Help - I clicked "Don't Save"
Like an idiot, I closed Numbers, and when it asked if I wanted to save "Untitled 1", I clicked "Don't Save". As my mouse button released, I realized what I had done. Lost a fair bit of work.
Anyone know whether there might be temporary work files or backups anywhere? I read somewhere that TEMP_com.apple.iWork.Numbers files are stored, but can't find any of those. Also nothing promising in my Trash either.
Any help would be very much appreciated

I never met such a file and would be very surprised if such a file was created.
I watched the folder used by the system for temporary items and saw nothing appearing in it.
What is created for a feww time is the file Index.xml which is packed in Index.xml.gz
To get rid of this odd action in the future, Install my autosave tool available in my idisk:
<http://idisk.mac.com/koenigyvan-Public?view=web>
Download autoSave_iWork.zip
Unpack it , double click onto "autosave4iWork.applescript" then read and apply the given explanations.
Every ten minutes iWork's documents would be automatically saved and, if a document is open and never saved before, you will be asked where you want to save it.

I accidentally clicked don't save and lost all my changes
I accidentally clicked don't save on a pages doc and lost all changes... Everything I know says "tough luck", but I am helping a despondant colleague and thought I'd try the experts... thanks!
Tough luck is it I'm afraid.
Install ForeverSaveLite (free) on your Mac to prevent this in the future.

In Illustrator, I have a saved artwork, then I'm saving a copy as PDF, as usual.
After I keep the AI file open, making some modifications which I don't want to save, so I close the file and click "Don't Save".
Even though I clicked that, the file's modification time is changing.
(The modifications I made are not there, so it's not really saving but why the date is changing then?)
Please find the cause of it! Thank you!All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

I just accidentally 'Don't Save'd a Word document. CAn I get it back?
I just inadvertently "Don't Save"ed a Word document. It had not been Save-ed or Named at any point. CAn I get it back?
You are correct. Time Machine can't backup a file that is not saved. And in "bopdog"s question above, I agree that her chances of getting her Word file back are slim to none. Bopdog specified that s/he never saved the Word file at all. In my experience and testing, I have never seen a Microsoft Office program create an Auto-Recover file of an open, but unsaved file, except when a program crash has occurred. I have seen Excel create an Auto-Recover file of an open document that had never been saved, when Excel crashed. So your point is well taken, and is likely correct in bopdog's case.
However, Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 programs, do save files automatically. If you have not changed the preferences, Office will automatically save an open, previously-saved, file every 10 minutes to the file location of Microsoft Office Auto-Recover documents (by default: Users > usernamehomefolder > Library > Application Support > Microsoft > Office > Office 2011 AutoRecovery). And if you use Time Machine, it will back up the Auto-Recover files every hour.
There are numerous support and forum Q&As across the internet where posters have basically said "if you click 'Don't Save' you are doomed." And there are numerous Q&As that explain where to find MS Office Auto-Recover files, and others that suggest Time Machine as a way to recover files. My post was meant to point out the fact that the combination of Auto-Recover and Time Machine can often allow you to recover a file (with at least some of your otherwise lost work) when you accidentally click "Don't Save."
The reason for my enthusiasm in the post is that I had just recovered several hours of work using the method I described. Here's what happened in my specific case:
I was working on a Word document that had been saved previously.
I spent several hours over the course of a workday bouncing between the open Word document and multitasking with other programs and files.
In the evening I went back to work on the file for a while, then I got distracted.
I went to install some new software and when my Mac asked me to Restart, I blithely shut down all my programs.
When Word asked, I accidentally clicked "Don't Save" on the file that I had been working on off-and-on all day, without saving.
I shut down Word normally and restarted the computer.
I then re-opened the Word file (opened recent documents) and realized that hours and hours of work were gone!
I went to Auto-Recover and there was no Auto-Recover file for the Word document. That is the way Auto-Recover unfortunately works. If you say "Don't Save" it assumes you mean it, and it deletes the Auto-Recover file. You can't get it back.
However, Time Machine backed up the Auto-Recover file. It was still there in my last Time Machine backup. In my case I didn't lose one minute of my work, because the Word file had been sitting there open for hours, without me working on it, and Time Machine backed up the Auto-Recover file every hour.
So yes, you can recover a Word file that YOU did not (recently) save, even if you clicked "Don't Save," because Auto-Recover saves files automatically, and Time Machine backs up the Auto-Recover files. It may not work in every case, but it sure saved my butt a couple days ago. So forgive my enthusiasm, but I was pretty stoked to get a few hours of my life back, and wanted to share this with the Mac community. -

How can I save my adjusments without clicking Done?
In ACR,
How can I save my adjusments without clicking Done?Do you mean you are wanting to save your adjustments file-by-file as you work on them without exiting ACR via Done and then having to go back into ACR from Bridge, each time? I don’t know as you can that. For Cancel to undo all adjustments for the batch of images, there can’t be something else that saves the adjustments incrementally for individual images. Of course you’re in trouble if you accidentally hit Cancel after doing a batch of edits and lose everything.
The Bridge/ACR workflow was developed many years ago and is pretty simple-minded.
An alternative would be using Lightroom that remembers each adjustment as you do it and stores it in a permanent history so the adjustments are saved immediately but also can be undone, last-to-first, at any point in the future, for a particular image. -
When I am in Month view and double click to create a new event, then edit the name and duration of such and click done, most times it does not save it or it appears to save it, the name changes but when i click away, it reverts to a blank New Event. Sometimes it will save the event as edited but then it will also create a blank New Event on that same day that I then cannot delete.
I do synch with my iPad through iTunes BUT I have not synched for over a month now and this is happening with new events I am creating since the last synch.
Any suggestions most appreciated.Hello Mujno,
To fix this issue, you need to determine how you are navigating between pages. Are you navigating between multiple pages within a page (like html iframe) or navigating from one page window to another. The Frame control helps keep track of
the page navigations.
Here's what you can try per scenario:
1) Navigating between pages within a page
- You would have to include a frame control on all pages that use your reusable class. The frame control would be a container for any page that you want to navigate and display the content. I doubt this is what you are doing but figured it's worth mentioning.
- You can use the "this.Frame.Navigate(.....)" after including the frame control on the page. Note that "Frame" is the name of the frame object.
2) Navigating from one page window to another
- You can navigate to another page from your reusable class by instantiating a new frame from the current window.
Frame rootFrame = Window.Current.Content as Frame;
rootFrame.Navigate(typeof(Object), Object);
Let me know if this helps.

Since I have Yosemite on my iMac I can't view PDF files in Safari anymore. It keeps telling me to upgrade my Adobe Reader, but it is the latest version. Please help? I don't have this problem on my Macbook that does not have Yosemite installed.
Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
Allow Plug-ins
Then click
Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari. -

how do I verify my apple id? I can't sign in to it in mail and I can't make a new one because it just will not process I'm trying to set up iCloud between iPad and iPhone and having ALOT of difficulty pleAse help need it done by later on today!!!!!
In order to use your Apple ID to create an iCloud account, the primary email address associated with the ID must first be verified. To do this, Apple will send a verification email to your account and you must respond to the email by clicking the Verify Now link. Make sure you are check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox. If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

I accidentally clicked 'don't trust my computer' on my iphone 5, it was a total accident as I wanted to click'trust my computer'. What can I do 2 gt tht message pop up back? I tried resetting my phone n turning it on and off. My PC is windows7. Please help mee people n apple . Thanks
Hi Rebekah...
This problem seemed to have worked itself out... Somewhere amongst these solutions...
1. Reinstall iTunes
2. Restart computer
3. Restart iDevice
It didn't at first, and I thought to myself... "Oh great, another problem which Apple doesn't acknowledge as existing", but don't worry. Give it a couple of restarts, and if all else fails... Create a new Windows Logon and try from there.
It just happens I was in the middle of reformatting my PC and resinstalling Windows 7, so it wasn't so much an issue when I wiped as it worked when I tried it on a fresh system.
Hope something helps... -
Using Firefox 19.02
When I receive an email with an Excel, Word, or PDF file attachment, and I click download, firefox opens up the associated program for all my users, however when you click on file>save-as you are not presented with the dialog box to perform a save.
Excel and Word, no fix at all. Other than different browser or to click download, right click and go to folder, and then copy it out of there to another folder and open it.
Help, what is going on here????

COMMAND BUTTON NEEDS TO BE CLICKED TWICE TO SAVE VALUES
Hello,
I have a problem that I'm pretty much spent hours trying to fix but failed to do so.
I have a jsf page with a datatable bound to a component.
I have updatable fields inside the table and a button below to save changes to the table.
When I make a change the first time, and then hit the button, i get the action, and I save the value with no problems.
However if right after it re-renders, I make another change in the table , and save button again it won't invoke the backing bean save method.
The setter for the datatable binding property does get invoked however, it disregards the changes i just made to the table.....
If i make changes for the third time...and hit save...it works...
All my backing beans are request scope
any clues???? i appreciate your help!!

When I click the Close Window button, the Confirm close dialog window closes . . . but there is another one right behind it. I have to click the Close Window button again, and only then does the Firefox browser window close.
A couple of factors are involved:
1. I have "Warm me when I have multiple tabs" set to on.
2. Two or more tabs must be open in the Firefox window
3. I have at least two Firefox browser windows already open (not sure about this one, yet)
I thought before that it was necessary to have a dialogue box from a different program open, but this is not necessary for the bug to appear.
Thank you for your help!
