Help! I deleted iChat!!!

Ok, i just got this macbook, and it came with ichat, great. I'm not sure what version it was or anything. I accidentally deleted the program. I thought it was just a shortcut, but it wasnt and now i cant find it anywhere on my comp. Ive tried downloading it from apple again, but it says its just an update installer, and it wont install. SOMEONE ******* HELP ME.

Once Pacifist has the install Package open use the search function.
The relevant folder packages will be in the same spot/list as the folder is on the Harddrive.
So InstantMessage.framework goes in /System/Library/Frameworks so this is where it will appear in the list (along with all the other things that go in Frameworks)
The other VideoConference.framework go in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks

Although the folder/install packages are laid out different the process of going through the folder/packages is similar and may prove useful to you.
iChat 2.0 puts the folders in different places - well one of them anyway - so you can't follow the instructions per se

I accidentally deleted ichat

YES! i know i am an idiot and i feel like one right now. I deleted ichat and emptied my trash because i wanted to re-install it. I was having some problems with my videochat because i couldn't hear my friend so i thought i would re-download it from the apple site. But, as i recently found out, it is not here. I read some posts about using the installation disk but i checked the box that i received my Macbook pro 13' inch in and there was no disk. I might have lost it but i don't think so. Could somebody PLEASE help me?

You need your install disk's, or a visit to an Apple store to see if they are kind enough to install it for you.

Deleted ichat av how do i get it back?

i have recently bought a macbook and when i downloaded mercury messenger the guys at the apple store said i needed to delete the msnger that comes with the office pack etc, however i deleted ichat by mistake and it is not in my rubbish or anywhere! can i download it or retrieve it anywhere?

Your email provider may have changed certain settings to do with deleting from server when deleting from client so that it no longer works. Are you using pop or imap? If pop then recreate the account using imap.

Can you help me delete photo library & duplicate photo library

I don't know what I did, but I somehow copied 44 of my daughter's music images into my photo library and then created a duplicate with 43 images. These 87 images are taking up room and there is no obvious way to delete them.
Here's what happens when I touch camera roll it brings me to the photo library -- where 43 out of 44 images are hers:
I click edit and the only options are share via email, faceboook, twitter, etc. or add to which leads to create a new album. I don't want to do any of this. I just want to delete them to make room.
The same options apply for the Duplicate album as well.
Can you help me delete the photo library and the duplicate library on my phone? I only want to keep one video in the camera roll and all of the rest of the images can go.

Thanks for your response. I think you just isolated my issue -- I was trying to upload music and somehow wound up syncing my daughter's photos to my iphone. I don't know how to delete them because not all of the album/folders are appearing there. Do you have any suggestions on how to find them?

Hi,
It was never completely clear whether it was just hidden or whether Apple ran a download page for iChat 6.
As the Download for Messages Beta was separate and "Deleted" iChat it would seem it would be another download for iChat 6.
iMessages will not function as it is only an Account type within Messages and iChat 6 does not have it.
Therefore messages on the iPhone will not sync to the Mac. (until you get Mountain Lion and Messages in that OS X version).
Mountain Lion and it's full version of Messages will not sync the iMessages that have happened in between the 14th December 2012 (end date of Messages beta) and the Install of Mountain Lion if you decide on that route.

It gave me plenty of hits, but be a little careful. I would suggest using the free trial of one of the paid products. As I have never used one, I cnnot recommand any.
And remeber: every time you write something on that flash drive, you risk overwriting your lost file, thus decreasing your chances of recovering it.

Help! deleted file on dropbox can i recover it on time machine?

Help I deleted my senior project! So i was responsible and synced my project with drobox and "regularly' backed up my computer. Well, after I turned it in I needed some space in my drobox and deleted my synced folder which deleted it off my computer. I backed up my computer the day after and I guess I didnt realize that I had deleted this IMPORTANT folder for awhile... So its 3 months from when I did that so too late to recover the lost files from dropbox. Is there a way I can recover the folder from time machine? The last backup was way too old before I deleted the file and I only have a backup from the day AFTER I deleted it. Please help!

I have a script to export all the "indesign files" found inside the folder... and then remove all the indesign files...
Instead, Can i have a help to delete....
the indesign file after exporting to IDML and then
continue opening the next indesign file, exporting to IDML and deleting it...

This has two methods but for iChat 3 and 4 you also need to download the Last Combo Installer that matches your OS level See the link at the bottom of the User Tip.
You HAVE to do this bit. Software Update keeps receipts of what has been updated and you ned to update iChat from the Install Disk level.
iChat 5 will not need this step until it is updated (there was no update in 10.6.1 for iChat)

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
