Help, i dont want to loose all my music on my ipod

heres what happend. i was reinstalling windows and i put all my (12gb) worth of music on my ipod.. i just copy and pasted it onto the ipod. i basically deleted everything off of it and used it as a external hard drive... i then went ahead and reinstalled windows.. now when i connect it to my pc, i go to my computer and the ipod comes up as "Removable Disk (E:)" and when i double click on it it says "The disk in drive (E:) is not formatted, do you want to format it now"... i cant even access the inside and copy paste all my music back onto my pc. i installed itunes and when i connect the ipod this pops up "ipod seems to be corrupt, it needs to be reset to factory settings before use" (something to that effect).. it just lists Name: IPod, Capacity: n/a, Software version... and when i click "restore" it says everything will be wiped off the ipod (all my 12gb of music)... can someone help me get the files off the ipod...
thanks i hope you all understood what i said.

I don't remember if Restore deletes the files stored directly on the iPod's drive (not part of the hidden iTunes directories). However, if you are already at the "connect to power adapter" step, Restore has already done most of its work. The last step just re-initializes the iPod's internal software. So you should just complete the Restore and see if those files are still there.

My exwife took the ITunes acount! i need to open a new one but i dont want to loose all my apps

Sorry, but the apps are tied to the former iTunes Store account, and if your ex wife was granted ownership, you no longer have a legal right to the apps and will have to purchase them again through your own new iTunes Store account.

Maybe a data recovery company can help. Otherwise you will have to erase the iPod tn order to regain use of the iPod. You can also restore from your last backup. The Disbled is a good security feature.
    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Thank you deggie to answer me . You know, I don't know much of computers and of technology but when I bought that ipod back when  they came out 2005 I was able to download music from my CDs and from Youtube to itunes then transfer to my ipod and back and forth to itunes .  Then if I had changed of computer I was able to transfer to that new computer. Why I'm not able to do it ? There is a program(Sharepod) that allow to do that but it cost $35.00 but I thought that was free or it is because that now I have to buy from itunes only?

  • HT1386 I have a 3GS iphone. I have a message instructing me to restore its                         original setting.  Will I loose all my music on my ipod if I do this?

I have a message instructing me to restore original settings.  If I do this will I loose all my music on the ipod?

What exactly does the message you're getting say? Where are you seeing it?
If the phone is in recovery mode, everything on the phone is already gone.
Your music should already be in the iTunes library on your computer.

You must restore it, losing anything you have failed to backup or store on your computer or cloud service.

  • Please HELP!! I've lost all my music on my IPOD.

Here is a brief history of what happened. I bought a new PC (Windows Vista) and downloaded itunes. HOwever my music only appeared while my IPOD was connected. So I wanted to see if the music was stored on my old compter and it wasn't. So by connecting my IPOD to my new computer again, on the Summary page i clicked that itunes automaticly opens when my ipod is connected. Afterwards a message appeared asking if i wanted these changes applied - i said yes - then all my music on my ipod and itunes erased. Is there any way I can get this back - is it stored somewhere? Unfortuanately i didn't back up as Im only realizing that I could as I go searching for support! The name of the IPOD appearing on itunes has also now changed. What can I do??? PLEASE help.

I have a similar problem - purchased a new laptop as my old one was damaged.
    I have a n ipod classic with 6500 songs/videos/photos.
finally downloaded itunes onto it and when ipod plugged into usb then my ipod is recognised and all the material appears in my folder, but not in the itunes folder, this is ok as it still plays on the computer while the ipod is connected, all was well for a couple of weeks and i've downloaded and copied other music onto it successfully. yesterday i disconnected the ipod to play in the car and all the material had disappeared! as it's not backed up i thought i must have deleted it somehow and panicked as you do!
when i plug the ipod back in, the material magically reappears in my music folder, but as soon as it's disconnected it's gone from the ipod.
anyone tell me how i get it back on to the ipod?

  • Is there a way to sync my music from my ipod to a computer without deleting it, the original computer i had it on crashed and i really dont want to lose all my music

My computer that i had my itunes crashed and i wanted to know if there was a way to transfer my music from my ipod to a new computer without completely having to resync every cd. I already have the purchased music transfered.

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup cppy to put everything back.

  • I just got a new computer and I want to transfer all the music from my ipod classic onto my computer.

I just got a new computer and want my entire library on my ipod classic to be transferred to my computer.  I transferred as many files as I could from my old computer through my external hard drive, but many of my cds didn't transfer.  When I hook up my ipod, I see it's entire contents.  My question is, does a sync only work from the computer to the ipod, or if I sync my ipod will the songs on it be synced to my computer along with all the playlists?  My biggest worry is if I sync it, it will go back to the factory settings or I lose all my music.  I appreciate any help.

    Yes...
    For iTunes purchases...
Launch iTunes on the new computer. From the iTunes menu bar click Store > Authorize This Computer
Now from the menu bar click File > Transfer Purchases from...

  • HT1937 I tried to update to the newest version for my iphone and for some reason I am getting a restore the iphone on my phone and computer. Why is this happening, I dont want to loose all my info and have to put it back in.

Help Please!! my computer won't finish my update for my iphone and it says it needs to restore my iphone. I don't know why it is doing this? If I restore the phone with itunes it will wipe out all my media and contacts and I don't want to do that. But I can't use my phone it just shows a pic of a usb port plug in to a itunes note. Can anyone answer how I can get the iphone back to normal because I can't even use it.

Monday I ended up on the phone with Apple Support just to be sure I was doing the right thing and to check my back up info so I could be sure I didn't loose important data. They were very nice and helped me finish the process. When I told the tech that I couldn't download the new update and install from my iphone that is when I went to the computer and that's when I got this recovery mode thing on my phone. He told me there must have been a problem and that is why he thinks I couldn't down load it from the phone. I had to go to ITunes on my computer. Once we did the recovery we were able to check that I had a back up from the day before, so I didn't loose anything. He stayed with me til the process finished. I also found out I can prevent the auto sync for the future by setting the directions on that.
I am good now and my phone is operating fine, with the new update. Thank you all who commented back to me.

You can't merge account together but you can transfer your UK account into a Canadian one. You won't loose any previous purhcases by chnaging countries.
