Help! I dont want to lose my music!

I received my Ipod as a gift from my roommate years ago. She had a Mac so we formatted it on her computer. Now I no longer live with her and I just bought a PC because it was half the price of a Mac book. Itunes on my PC is telling me that windows will not recognize an Ipod formatted to MAC and I have to restore. How can I save my music? If I restore won't I lose all of the content on it? How can I get my PC to recognize my Ipod without losing over 5000 songs?!?!?!

Do you not have a backup copy of your music?
If this is your room mates music, then you shouldn't have it anyway.

    You're using a Mac computer?
You are always at risk of losing your music.  If you are worried about it now too it means you don't have a backup.  Get one. Soon.

  • Need help bad. Installed new HD and I dont want to lose my music on ipod

Can someone please help I had a HD crash and had to install a new HD. but when I plug my ipod into my computer it is telling me I have to reformat. I have allot of songs I purchsed and I dont want to lose them.
Is there a way to transfer playlists and songs with out formatting?
    Please help
    Thank you

    Check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • HT1386 i dont want to lose my music already on my phone and want to sync with my computer

want to kep my music on my phone or at least import to my itunes library. When i want to update my phone it is telling me i will lose all my data and replace it with what i have in my itunes library ?

That's because your phone was previously synced to a different computer. If all of the music was purchased from the iTunes store you can connect the phone to iTunes and choose "Transfer Purchases" from the file menu in iTunes to copy them to your computer. Then when you sync you won't lose anything.

  • Restoring iPhone 4 - help I dont want to lose my photos!

iTunes is telling me my phone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored.
I havent sync'd my phone in ages to iTunes so am worried if I restore it I will lose all my photos, data etc.
    Is there anyway around this??

Ok there are a couple of other resources out there that can help you get out of the recovery loop problem. They are a bit outdated but I suggest trying IREB. If neither IREB, Tiny Umbrella or Rec Boot do the job for you, there might be some type of corruption in your configuration files. Unfortunately, you would have to restore your iphone . I'll post the link for IREB below, Good Luck and let us know how it works out for you.
    http://ih8sn0w.com/index.php/products/view/ireb.snow
Once you download it and open IREB, you want to go the next tab and click on Recovery Mode Loop FIxer
Then Click on set auto boot true/recovery loops

  • I just authorized this computer but am afraid to synch my phone to it because i dont want to lose my music. is it safe?

I just deauthorized all other computer and authorized this one. When I try to synch my music it says it will delete all my music and replace it with stuff from my itunes library. This computer doesnt have anything in the library. is it safe to synch my phone?

yes.  The iPhone will synch with ONE iTunes library at a time.  When you synch yoiur phone to a new computer, all iTunes data will be wiped from your phone and will be replaced with what's on the new computer.  This has nothing to do with the computer being authorized or not.
You need to move your iTunes media from your old computer to the one to which you want to synch.

  • HT4972 how can i put all my music on my computer before i update my i pod cuz i dont want to lose my music

how to save music b for updating my i pod

You can copy purchases from Apple from the iPod to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. For music purchased from other stores and/or copied from CDs, then if you haven't already got it on your computer and/or on a backup then you will need to find a third-party program for your computer that can copy them off the iPod (iTunes won't copy them).

  • Hi i dont want to lose my music amd videos in synchronization

    I don't blame you.

  • Help?? new computer and new itunes. dont want to lose information

We have 2 iphones with Sprint service - which means no SIM card.  We just purchased a new computer.  I downloaded itunes to the new computer since it was not pre-installed.  I transfered the info from our old computer to the new one using an easy transfer cable.  Our music is now in the new itunes, though not all of the playlists transfered, which is no problem.  When I plug the iphone into the new computer, a message appears that all data will be erased from the phone if I continue.  I dont want to lose the contacts, apps, etc by going forward.  The music can be reselected so that is not an issue but the contacts and other info would be a nightmare if lost.  Sprint doesn't have SIM cards, so that isn't an option to save contacts.
It was also a nightmare having 2 iphones connecting to the same itunes, so I would like to have 1 iphone to the new computer and the other iphone to our laptop.  When I connect the iphone to the laptop, I get the same message.
Also, there were purchased music on both iphones - will I lose those purchases?
    Thanks for any help!!

Did you not copy your contacts from the old comtuer to the new one?  You should copy everything from the old computer.
BTW iphone stores nothing at all on the SIM card, so that would not matter anyway.
You need to transfer anything purchased on the iphone to your comptuer:  File>Transfer Purchases

  • My ipod touch is disabled for 22 million minutes and I want to fix it but I dont want to lose my pictures and everything else. Help please

my ipod touch is disabled for 22 million minutes and I want to fix it but I dont want to lose my pictures and everything else. Help please I dont remember the last time I updated it. Idk I think its been a year in an half since I known about it being disabled. What do I do? Im scared to restore it because I dont want to lose my stuff.

You have to restore and thus erase your iPod. that is how it works.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

i have two iphone wich are protected by two different password ! but when i woke up today ! i'v found that my two iphone ( iphone 5 et iphone 4 ) refuse my passwords of 4 numbers i have important data and i dont want to lose please help me ! thank you !

If you forgot (or don't know) your passcode, restore the device from backup on the last computer it was synced with when the passcode was turned on... this will remove the passcode. If you do not have access to the last computer it was synced with, or you don't have a backup, you will have to force it into recovery mode & restore as a new device.
