HELP!!!! i duplicated all of my albums in iTunes by importing it twice.

Is there a free app that will clean up all of my duplicated songs in iTunes? I was trying to put just the new music files from windows media player and imported the whole library again by accident. Yikes!!! Still dont know how to do just new files but untill i figure that out, I dont want to sync my iPod and double things there too. some things of coarse are not doubled but its alot to go thru one by one. Anybody know the answer to my problem?

Have a look at Teridon's iTunes Scripts, Robert has a script in there for dealing with duplicates which might be of some help: Teridon's iTunes for Windows Scripts
Just note: The duplicate eliminator in Robert's scripts package only works for these two kinds of duplicates:
1) Multiple copies of the exact same file (e.g. "Song.mp3" and "Song 1.mp3", where "Song 1.mp3" is simply a copy of Song.mp3
2) Multiple entries in the iTunes Library for the exact same file.
The script does nothing for duplicates that are the same song, but different files (e.g. encoded by someone else, has different artwork or other tags, etc.)
There are also some third party programs out there, like "Dupe Eliminator" (not free however)) that might help in more complicated cases. If you do a quick web search I'm sure you'll find more (possibly free): Dupe Eliminator

Try the Songs option from the drop down list control near the top right. Use the same control to turn off Show Artwork if needed/desired.

HELP!! all of my songs on itunes are gone!!

so the other day i opened up my itunes, and all of the songs, all 2300 of them are gone. now this is weird, because i looked on my itunes store bought history, and all the songs are still on there. do you know how to get them back on my itunes?!

Music files duplicated in Finder once played on iTunes after imported

Whenever I now import songs, albums, etc. to my mac locally they don't show up in itunes until I double click on them directly in finder to make them play in iTunes. However, after they start playing in iTunes a duplicate file is created doubling the file size of the original file I had clicked on. Any suggestions on how to delete the duplicates without me having to search and delete them one by one?

How are you "importing" songs? If simply copying files to somewhere on the Mac they won't be added to iTunes until you do it by dragging them to iTunes or double clicking on them to play them.
If you have iTunes' preferences set to add a copy of music to your media folder when adding an item it will copy an item from wherever it is located and put a copy in your media folder. Most people want iTunes to organize their music for them, but you can also unset that option in iTunes' preferences.

I never laughed in all my life. Here I was, inserting the cd Dance with Me, thinking it's not going to copy the whole thing. yeah, right.
Sure, it prompted me, Do I want to replace the songs, so of course I said "no, don't replace the songs". and guess what it did. It copied the whole cd (at least I got my two songs).
I went into the itunes library, and sure enough, all the songs were there twice. So what did my intelligent brain think of? I just unchecked the doubled songs and stuck my ipod into my computer and it synched up and I got what I wanted.
Now what did I do wrong when it prompted me. I clicked on "don't replace" and it replaced them anyway.
Am I dumb? or is itunes stupid?

A month ago I had 3gs with 4.1 OS version and I synced all my photo albums from my old laptop as I have planned to sell it off.
I sold my old laptop and accidentally kids at my home have pressed reset button and my phone got locked, now I got my phone permanently unlocked with a vendor and updated my OS to 6.1.3 version, thinking that my photo can synced again when I connect to Itunes, I bought my new laptop installed Itunes authorised it, it was able to restore my camera roll pics but not my album.
Please help me in restoring my lost album.

I'm sorry, but unless you hace a backup of your pics somewhere, they are gone. Photos synced to your phone are not part of an iPhone backup, & the photo sync is one-way: Computer to Phone. When you synced to a different computer, these photos were erased from your phone...by design, iPhone syncs iTunes content with one computer at a time.
Sorry, there is no way to recover this data.

After having experienced similar problems and having it back to work, I have a few suggestions:
- Try to find out if the syncing stops at a particular track or song. That might - out of the blue - have gotten corrupted in one way or another. Since that song will not be on the iPod, iTunes will try over and over to put it on and crash in one way or another;
- reformat the iPod as described in the iTunes 9 crash-thread. It takes time (at first it seems to do nothing, but that is because the green bar is moving with very small steps);

In trying to put a photo icon in my dock, I lost all my photo albums and can't get them back. Please help.

I tried to put a photo icon on my desktip dock. In doing so, I have lost all my photos file, every album, every photo. Can anyone help me retrieve them in their album form?

Itunes has duplicated all the songs of my library; how can you get rid of duplicates the quickest way possible knowing that I can't use
the suggestion to delete albums as they are the songs and not the albums which have been duplicated.

The script still works as intended whether you can pre-filter for duplicates or not. As of right now there may be an issue with some of my scripts if the library is displaying available iCloud purchases. Untick Edit > Preferences > Store > Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases if the script bombs complaining of missing object properites.

HELP! Recovered iphotolibrary lost ALL events and albums?!

Without a clear reason and absolutely no warning, iPhoto (on my brand new MacBookPro with all current updates etc.) suddenly showed '0' photos in my <80t photo library. After the itinial panic I was able to 'recover' the photos with 'recover library' option by Option+open. To my shock the entire photo library has been 'recovered' in a single 'recovered photos' event. Total catastrophe.. Could someone please have an idea how to get iPhoto to find the previous event and album hierarch? Grateful for ANY tips out there. Thank you!!

You can try rebuild with iPhoto Library Manager
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
If that doesn't help then there is no fix, I'm afraid.

Help, LR5 - FB can't find all existing FB albums

When trying to make new collections to publish to facebook, LR5 is not showing all my Facebook albums in the existing albums section. I can publish with no troubles to the albums being shown and can make a new album with out trouble but can't seem to find a way to access my existing albums not being shown. My main user page for facebook has nearly 50 albums and LR5 is only showing me 21 pre-existing albums for this setting, but when I select Non-User pre-existing albums it shows me all of my albums between both my Facebook "Pages". The missing albums do not have different privacy settings and are not any newer to facebook than some being shown as well as they were all made pre LR5 being installed on my computer. Please help me find these missing albums. TIA

I am not seeing the 2,550. My id was an old email address that I no longer have because we changed service providers. I uploaded so many photos late last winter/early spring and know I could access them then. I used <<personal information deleted>> (current) which one has the 2,550? Albums is a way or sorting photos. Photos aren't moved from the Camera roll. The Camera Roll consists of all the photos on the phone. If you delete from Camera Roll they are deleted everywhere but Photo Stream.
Are you using Photo Stream? Your photos, providing they wer recent should still be in Photo Stream. If you have Photo Stream set up on your computer they should all be there.

Does the track play correctly in Quicktime Player? If it does then it is an iTunes issue. If it doesn't then it is possible the file was not completely downloaded, or is corrupt.
