Help! I forgot "encrypt iphone backup" password

Could anyone tell me what can i do as i forgot the password of "encrypt iphone backup" i have deleted the old itune and dl a new one, but it doesnot work! My iphone cannot synchonize with itune now! Help!
Thx a lot

If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password you can continue to do backups and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync. If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you will have to do a full software restore and when prompted by iTunes to select the backup to restore from, choose Set up as a new device. But first, delete all iPhone backups listed under iTunes>Preferences>Devices.

    Dear Madam/ Sir.

You must first buy Snow Leopard from Apple: 800-MY-APPLE (in the US)
Make sure your system meets Snow Leopard's requirements:
Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" System Requirements
To install Snow Leopard for the first time, you must have a Mac with:
    An Intel processor
An internal or external DVD drive, or DVD or CD Sharing
At least 1 GB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended)
A built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
At least 5 GB of disk space available, or 7 GB of disk space if you install the developer tools

  • HT201269 how do I get the encrypt iPhone backup password? I'm trying to restore my phone and its asking me enter the password to to unlock your iPhone backup

how do i get the encrypt iphone backup password??

    Tips here:

If the backup you're trying to restore from is encrypted, you will not be able to use that backup if you can't remember the encrypted backup passcode.
If on a Mac, & you elected to save the passcode to your Keychain, you can recover the passcode from your Keychain. Otherwise, your backup data is unrecoverable.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups, & restore your phone as a new device. Your data will be unrecoverable.
You delete your existing backups here: iTunes>Preferences>Devices.

  • I forgot my encrypt iPhone backup password

I lost my password to the encrypt iPhone backup. How do I reset it? I don't need to restore my phone, but I would like to be able to access my future backups in case something happens to my iPhone 4s. How do I reset it and if I can't reset it, what do I do next to make sure all my data is saved?

    Hello AjaxTheCat,
After reviewing your post, it sounds like the other possible passwords listed in the previous article did not work.  I would recommend that you read this article.
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support
If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you won't be able to restore from backup, and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and choose set up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

What happened to your phone that you are trying to restore to a backup that is encrypted? If you have your contacts in iCloud, you can just turn iCloud back on when you get the phone working, if it isn't, and that will bring your contacts back. You won't need to do a restore from an iCloud backup if you were not doing an iCloud backup anyway. If you log into www.icloud.com and look at contacts, what do you see there?

  • I forgot my encrypted ipad backup password

I forgot my encrypted ipad backup password in itunes - ok but I know my ipad pass so I figured I'd just go to prefs >> devices, delete the old backup, and then just redo a whole backup and set a new pass. Should be simple, right? Nope! Stupid itunes keeps asking me for my **** old backup password... I don't know what it is, I just want to make that go away and have it do an entirely new backup! How do I do that?

You must restore the iPad as a new device, there is no way around it. If you delete the old backup and try to backup again, the backup will still be encrypted.
If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore, choose set up as a new device.

  • HT203271 forgot iphone backup password how to recover

how to recover password or reset to recover backup

Without the backup passcode the only option is to restore the phone and set it up as New. You get unlimited guesses for the passcode, so you might try a bunch of passcodes that you have used in the past. And to speed up the process just uncheck "encrypt backup" in iTunes and you will be prompted immediately for the passcode.
Elcomsoft makes an iPhone backup password cracker that will work if you are not in the habit of using strong passwords. It is targeted for law enforcement use, and priced accordingly. However, they have a trial version that will give you the first 2 characters.

  • Lost "Encrypt iPhone Backup PW and can not Restore iPhone from iTunes?

Late LATE night attempt to Reset iPhone via USB connection to iTunes ened up insread with me Erasing All Content and Settings from iPhone directly after encrypted back up of phone to Macbook then attempting Restore from Macbook to iPhone. Lost most of my iPhone contacts and still cannot remember or find copy of pw for encrypted backup UNLESS that is because my Macbook is now encrypted with FileVault. I put a copy of the password for encrypting iPhone Backup in my 1password app and am positive it is good is only being rejected because Macbook in now encrypted. All I want is my iPhone contacts. So I am de-encrypting my Macbook now. Kind of in a pickle when you loose the only copy of you resonal contacts. Can anyone help sort this mess out? My level of computer competence is really lacking.
If they would just stop spying so much these things (encryptions, FileVault etc)  would not be nessaccary.

The syncing is happening through the cell network not the wifi so it didn't help to turn off the router.  Here's what I ended up doing that finally worked:
I restored the backup.  Before I could use the phone, it takes me through a few steps.  On the icloud step, I actually skipped it, so I didn't enter my password.  At that point the phone was usable again so I went to settings>icloud and turned off Contacts.  I double checked and my contacts were still on my phone.  THen I went to settings>icloud and entered my password and the turned contacts back on.  At that point it asked me if I wanted the contacts merged and I said yes.  A few minutes later my contacts were still on my phone and I checked my icloud account online and the contacts had been syced there as well.  Finally!  It worked!

  • HT1766 I don't know my iphone backup password and my contacts disappeared

My contacts disappear and I don't know my iphone backup password. How can I recover them?

Actually, there are two ways to recover lost contatcs of iPhone, one is from the iTunes backup files, another one is recover them directly from the iPhone with the help of iPhone Contacts Recovery software, since you are wondering about the way without the using of iTunes backup, you can choose a kind of iPhone Contacts Recovery software to recover your contacts in a few steps and it is very easy and fast, you can have a try!

  • Encrypted iPhone backup checked - will manual still back it up?

I am trying to backup my iPhone because I believe I will be getting mine replaced.
However, I have the 'Encrypt iPhone backup' checkbox checked, and iTunes is not accepting my password. Now I cannot uncheck it, and the password does not work.
If i select 'Back Up Now' under Manual Back Up and Restore, will I be able to use that backup without the password once I get a new iPhone? Or is my only option to back up my iPhone in the cloud and get it back afterwards?
    Thanks,
    -J
