HELP: I have greenish dots outlining texture of desktop

Just received my Mac Pro back from Apple repair. I plug it in and see greenish dots and mini lines outlining and words on my desktop. This includes the texture of photo's. I saved a photo of my desktop and it's present in the photo. I cannot capture video on FCP as the lines-dots will be present in the video or photo's. I unplugged all electronics in home except computer to see if it was interference.. it wasn't... Any advice is appreciated. I have a video project in FCP that I cannot start with his problem. Joe.. did you resolve this?I have a similar issue on my ACD 30inch, ATI4870 radeon. I thinks its a software issue. no issue at 10.5.x .. it's been with me since 10.6.x

How come my links have a red-dotted outline when I preview?

My links work fine and I took off the blue outline of my image links. When I hover over them, they look fine- but when I actually click on them, they all have this small red to blue dotted outline that flashes just when you click on it. It's pretty annoying. How can I get rid of that? thanks in advance!

Focus is beneficial from a web accessibility standpoint. For people who don't have a mouse connected to their web device, this permits visitor to see which link they're on. Tab through your links to see why this is a good thing.

Stroke - How Do I design a dotted outline around a shape?

Im using photoshop CS3 on a PC and am working on a photo where I have filled in people's faces and now need a dotted outline.

If your shape is a Path, you can stroke it: Make sure the path is active, and select a hard brush with the Paintbrush or Pencil tool. In the Brush palette, set the spacing to 500% or so.
With the Paintbrush or Pencil active, press Enter and your path will be stroked with the brush. You can also do this from the Paths palette menu.
Using more features of the brush palette, you can do the stroke with an oblong or rectangular brush so that the direction of the brush will rotate to follow the direction of the path, giving you a dashed, rather than dotted, line.

Why do songs that I just had on my iPhone have a dotted circle next to them and won't sync to my phone?

I recently downloaded about 20 new songs and put them into iTunes. I synced my iPhone with iTunes, but suddenly unchecked songs started syncing to my iPhone and the songs i had downloaded would not. I looked into it and under "on my phone," the songs had dotted circles to the left of them. I restarted the phone, i restarted the computer, and finally i cleared the phone and restored it to the back-up. After restoring it didn't work, I unsynced all of my music from the phone and tried to resync all of the checked songs onto it but ALL of the songs i previously had on the phone have the dotted circle next to them. I am so incredibly frustrated and have no idea why this is happening. Why it 1) downloads unchecked songs, 2) has dotted circles next to all of my songs, and 3) won't sync any music I have checked as they are all now marked with the dotted circles. Please help! How do i fix this?

I had this issue on my iphone 4, and two songs listed on the iPhone in iTunes had the dotted circle. I researched it, and I found a hundred different answers. Some were complicated like uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. All I did was this... In iTunes under Music, I simply unchecked Sync Music, and I deleted all music from my iPhone. I then checked Sync Music, chose all the songs I wanted. No songs in iTunes had dotted circles, and all songs on my iPhone played.

• Open/close all layer groups (folders) at the current level of hierarchy: Cmd-click the arrow next to the group - This is handy when you want to open/close, say, all the top-level groups without disturbing the open/closed state of any groups nested within them.
• Open/close all layer groups nested within the current one: Opt-click the arrow next to the group - This is nice when you want to open/shut a bunch of nested groups, without affecting any that lie outside the target group.
• Open/close all layer groups, period: Cmd-Opt-click the arrow next to a group So, to keep things simple: when in doubt, Cmd-Opt-click a group’s arrow and you’ll collapse/expand all groups.
* On Windows please substitutes Ctrl for Cmd and Alt for Opt. .

Please help -- SHADOWS APPEAR as BLACK OUTLINES when I EXPORT to PDF

Hi all,
I have designed a product catalog in InDesign. I retouched product in PS and dropped an "outer glow" and "drop shadow" Layer Style onto the products and saved them with a transparent background in a .PSD format. The files were then Placed into the InDesign document.
The pages print just as they appear when I print from InDesign, however, I would like to be able to email this document out to retailers, but when I Export as a PDF, the images with shadows appear as if they are stroked with a sloppy/irregular black line in place of the shadows...
Please help me resolve.
Could it be due to the compression?
Thoughts? Alternatives?

I'm sorry for the delayed reply.
Here is the catalog I designed. If you flip through it, you will see that some of the t-shirts have this black outline in place of the "outer glow effect"
I am using CS3.
My workflow was this:
Brought photo into PS > masked out background > deleted selected to Transparent background > Placed graphic in new layer over Tshirt image > Saved file as TIFF > Placed TIFF into InDesign document > Export InDesign document to PDF

Why does my mail have blue dots and won't open? My Internet is okay.

My Internet seems to be working fine. I have blue dots in front of each mail message and the messages won't send. Help.

If you can't open the messages or send emails, you can try quitting the mail app completely as well.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Tap the screen above the task bar.
Then go back and try mail again.

My pictures and events in iphoto are not showing but are represented by a dotted outline. What did I do and how can I get the images back?

I have a couple thousand pictures in iphoto divided into several folders. While working with them the images disappeared and are only represented by dotted outlines where the picture was. Events are also represented this way. When the cursor is run across them the photo will appear briefly, but will not pull up. I am not able to view them for long. What is causing this and how do I fix it?
Any ideas?

Going forward when you have iPhoto problems you will probably get a faster response by posting in the iPhoto forum. I would recommend Rebuilding the iPhoto library.

Spry Tabbed Panel - Dotted outline around selected tab

Hello there,
I noticed in Spry Tabbed Panels, once a tab is selected,
there is a dotted outline around the selected tab (the 'focus').
How do I hide it? I've seen a similar set up using JQuery which has
the dotted outline automatically disappear after a tab is selected.
I've set up a demo at my personal website to illustrate what I'm
getting at.

Your solution got rid of the dotted focus outline. However
the problem persists in Internet Explorer. I read at the following

for all <a> element in the HTML file and disables the focus.
But in the case of the Spry Tabbed Panel, the <a> is actually

Please understand I am a frustrated customer like you, , but the availability of movies that have been shown before is dependant on licencing from the rights owners. Sky quite rightly have to pay the film studios for the ability to show to Sky's customers. As I understand it they purchase the right for a period of time, hence when the right expires then it has to be removed. The costing of the movies does reflect on the anticipated popularity of the programme, hence an older less popular movie might seem expensive but if not many people watch and pay that would be right. The apparent silliness of having movies in the store and on demand, allows those people who do not have a movie subscription to rent the movie on a one off basis. I agree that Sky seem to be licencing some programmes for shorter periods and it really upsets me when movies appear in buy and keep but not available to rent only. I recently queried Sky about Fortitude being available in OnDemand until 2022!, then of course found out that Sky owns the rights of the series. I can only say be careful if you are a movies subscriber and wish to watch a movie, not to select the Sky Store version if it is available in the Movies on Demand section. I recently wanted to watch a film that I found in Sky store at a cost, and just to be sure I searched for it and found it was to be shown on Channel 4 in a few days. I don't think we'll ever understand how such decision are made as to how long they licence movies for and how the charging model works with the film studios. Logically you would think that a smallish fee to have available indefinately and to pay the studio fee based on the number of rentals would be better, but that might be difficult to administer and Sky would have to have extra server storage fees, which they outsource. Stacks dotted outlines

Since upgrading from 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard 10.6.2 stacks sometimes have a delay in loading.
When I click on the stacks on the dock the they opens fine but oftentimes there are blacks with a white dotted outline for a second or two before loading their icons.
this happen even if a don't make any change to the stack in beetween.. ie it can open fine (without delays) for let's say 5 times then at the sixt time i have the dalay, and the 8 times good and 1 bad
and so on

Apple responded to me saying that
"Engineering has determined that this issue behaves as intended based on the following information:
This is correct behavior. Rather than waiting until all icons have loaded, leading to slow response time, they are loaded on demand. The white outline (which is also used in the Finder for the same purpose) indicates that the icon is in the process of loading."
honestly i don't see it as an improvement, i never had lazy preview problems before Snow leopard, an can't get used to this new way..

IPhoto6 - after a full reistall of Snow Leopard, iphoto does not display thumbnails. I've restored from time machine, rebuilt the library and run through the rebuild thumbnails function with no success. The files are there, I just get a dotted outline.

Try the following:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Hey, I had the exact same problem with my transferring a new album my friend bought on my Mac, to my iphone... It took me two days to figure it out, but it could be either of 2 things:
1. You don't have the "manually manage music and videos" box checked. If you check it, then try to click and drag it over to your music on your device, it should then sync (on iTunes 11) This was my problem, and I checked that box, and it transferred and downloaded instantly
2. You don't have enough memory space on your device to put the playlist on. This was the problem for a lot of other people, not me, but they said it worked once they cleared some space on their device.
