Help!  I imported aiff files!

I just got a brand new shiny Ipod nano and went to import my existing playlists in Itunes. However, all/most of my music in Itunes is in aiff format (I had to convert them from MP3s for editing in Final Cut Pro). I completely forgot they were all aiff files and imported about 100 songs onto my Ipod and they've taken up more than 3 gigs of my Ipod hard drive(because aiff files are so huge) I've gotten to work making duplicates of all my music in MP3 format, however, my question is, how do I replace the existing songs on my Ipod with MP3 versions of the same songs? Hmmmmm?
Let me know,
Sanks!
kt

Hey! Good news. I went through Itunes and converted all my songs back to mp3 (I kept the aiff copies as well, just in another place on my computer). The good news is, once I completed converting them all, and plugged in my Ipod, it automatically reconnected the files with the MP3 files. I didn't need to export and re-import everything.
Yay!
Thanks,

  • Soundtrack Pro import AIFF files Work Around

I saved my AIFF Apple audio files from the earlier version of Soundtrack Pro. I dragged an AIFF into Favorites in the Browser lower right side of UI, worked with it, and "Saved As" send to Desktop and it works.
It won't let you export, but you can bring it into Final Cut from the desktop, by Selecting File & Import.

The goal is to make the files accessible to an Avid Media Composer. Turns out that the only format the MC will import is 44.1K AIFF. It doesn't know what to do with Apple lossless. Maybe it can work with WAVs -- I didn't try that. (And you can't drag and drop to import...)
So what I'm doing is using Libra to point iTunes to a library on a firewire drive, and then importing the CDs as AIFFs. This seems to work.
I will then bring the firewire drive to my place of work and import the files into iTunes on the Mac there.
The only question I have now is whether I needed Libra. What happens when you tell iTunes to change the location of the library? Does it read in an existing library and index it, or do you have to re-import?
Thanks to both of you for your help--
    Steve

  • I can't import aiff files into itunes as mp3s

I am trying to add some aiff files from an external hard drive to my itunes library. My import settings have mp3 checked under the advanced preferences and I am using the File>add to library command. When the files show up in my itunes library, they are still aiff files. I can then convert them to mp3 under the advanced tab, but I shouldn't have to go through this extra step. Is there a way to change this?

No. If you add MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless, AIFF or WAV, iTunes will simply add them to the library.
In order to convert them, you have to do it after you add them to the library.

  • Can't import AIFF file

I'm trying to convert audio cassettes as per instructions in www.wap.org/journal/digitizingcassettes/default.html. Successfully used Audacity to record song and export an ".aiff" file. But can't get that file into iTunes 7.5 (or earlier version)! Tried dragging file onto iTunes icon, dragging it into open iTunes window, using iTunes->File->Import or Add to Library but nothing happens. Even changed its Info to open under iTunes vice Audacity, but it won't. I must be missing something very basic - have had no problems importing audio CDs (but they wouldn't be aiff).

The "but nothing happens" is normal iTunes behavior when it finds the file to be incompatible.
Can't say for sure, but one thing to check is your Audacity options under Edit > Preferences > File Format. Make sure you are using the most vanilla flavor of AIFF, namely 16 bit PCM. Then look under Quality and make sure you are using 44.1.
If you can't resolve the AIFF issue, consider using Audacity to create a high bit-rate (320) mp3 and import that into iTunes instead. It will sound every bit as good.

  • Unable to import .aiff files

I am attempting to drag and drop .aiff files into garage band, however without success. I even imported into iTunes first and the file plays fine, yet can not get the dragged file to appear in the track. It simply snaps back to the desktop or folder in the drive. I've tried renaming this to .aif but also no luck. Any ideas?

  • Help to import .dmp file to APEX

    Hi All,
I have a question about export and import .dmp file to APEX.
I'm working on a data mining application based on database 11g. I managed to export the data mining model to a .dmp file using oracle data miner (ODM). now I wanna to know how to import this dmp file to the online schema (for example the free apex hosting). I used DBMS_DATA_MINING.EXPORT_MODEL and DBMS_DATA_MINING.IMPORT_MODEL and it's work in my computer.
    thanks

    Hello <unknown user>,
In short : you can't import a dmp file into apex.oracle.com.
That's because you need the imp utility (and the corresponding roles/rights).
You can create sql scripts for the DML and DDL and upload and run those.

  • Help with importing .mov file from iphoto

I have a casio exilim ex-z1080 digital camera. I have imported the jpg and mov files into iphoto, but can't seem to get it to import into imovie. i read a similar post to mine but could not understand. can anyone help in lay person's terms?
how do i get imovie to recognize the file?

What do you think is the best program to do this? is it QuickTime?
You can use MPEG Streamclip (free), GarageBand (part of iLife), or QT Pro ($30). Each will allow you to convert to any of the iMovie '08 compatible compression formats. (Just avoid Apple Animation and Apple Video which import and edit but do not export properly.) For simplicity, I would normally use use MPEG and convert to DV. This work flow produces a file that can be handled by almost any video editor and, since the format is very standardized, leaves few settings for the use to enter. All you really ned do is select the "Export to DV" File menu option, select any of the compression pop-ups (default DV25 is okay), enter your standard (NTSC or PAL), and set your aspect ratio (either 4:3 or 16:9). It is also a good habit to resample the audio to 48 Khz for consistency. Other that that, you can generally ignore the other settings. (You can also make adjustments to volume, brightness, contrast, and saturation as part of the conversion, but this isn't necessary if you are going to edit in iMovie '08 anyway.) The nice thing about this application is that it sets the anamorphic flag as part of your conversion which iMovie '08 uses in conjunction with the project properties to properly preview (or pad for preview when aspect of project does not match aspect of source file) and to set proper export dimensions (padded or otherwise) for the project aspect ratio output.

  • Help please importing mpeg files to be edited with Final Cut Studio

Hey everyone, new to the video editing thing. I have a JVC GY-HM100U Pro HD camcorder and a MacBook Pro 5,1 with 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4 GB 1067 MHz DPR3, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M & NVIDIA GeForce 9600MGT running OSX 10.5.8. Have recorded footage in mpeg4 and want to now edit using Final Cut Pro 7. Have downloaded Quicktime Pro and am still getting a "the movie could not be opened when trying to import the mp4 file. The movie contains some invalid data" window when trying to open the mpeg4 file. I have also downloaded DivX, FF Player, & Handbrake if these help convert to another supported file format. Please help!

That camera is promoted on the JVC website as being Final Cut Pro compatible.
Have you tried to import the clips via Log & Transfer?
You might also want to read up on the [workflow for that type of camera|http://documentation.apple.com/en/finalcutpro/professionalformatsandwork flows/#chapter=6%26section=0].
    Have downloaded Quicktime Pro....
QuickTime Pro is installed automaticallly with Final Cut Studio. No need to buy it again.
I have also downloaded DivX, FF Player, & Handbrake...
That software is all pretty much useless for working with Final Cut Studio.
MPEG Streamclip is free and much better.

  • HELP! Imported audio files now randomly out of sync!

I cut a short film a while ago. It was shot on HDV. I used some in-camera audio (from the HDV tapes) but also, some audio files from my sound mixer, which I originally imported as WAV files and manually sunc them up. Everything was fine.
Later, I outgrew the original media drive and upgraded, copying all of my media to the new drive. When I did that, I noticed that all of the camera audio was fine, but all of the audio that had been imported from those WAV files was randomly out of sync -- meaning that some files were 1 sec early, some 16 frames late, etc.
When I broke the link and re-linked to the original drive, all was fine again. Now, however, doing that makes those original files out of sync also.
When I relink these files now, FCP ALWAYS finds a discrepency with them: They supposedly have a different "Media Start and End" and "Rate." Apparently, that's why they're being offset, but they're the EXACT same files that I started with, so what's up?!??
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. They represent A LOT of work to fix one by one.

This is what it says under FORMAT: 24-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
Incidentally, this is EXACTLY the same for both the files on the original drive (that play perfectly in sync) and the copied ones that are out of sync.
I realize that FCP likes AIFFs, but WAVs is what my sound guy gave me.
    Any other ideas?

  • Help with imported eps files from photoshop and illustrator using PANTONE

I am new to InDesign and running into some very frustrating issues. I am preparing a catalogue for print which was created in Quark XPress previously. I tried converting it initially but had all kinds of strange things happening with type re-wrapping. The printer advised to recreate in InDesign. FIne by me because I'll learn as I go along.
So I created a page in InDesign and place and eps file created in Illustrator using a spot Pantone color and a halftone created in Photoshop also using the same spot Pantone color. In InDesign the color swatch menu show both colors one as 228 C and the other as 228 C 1. How do I get just one definition for PMS228 coated that works across all three programs? Stuff like this pisses me off. Adobe should have one definition across all three.
    Help!!!

My best guess for the two definitions is that the CMYK values of the colours do not match, so InDesign treats them separately. You can merge them using the In Manager. Open the Swatches panel and select Ink Manager from the flyout menu. Select PANTONE 228C 1, go to the Ink Alais pop-up menu, and select PANTONE 228. Now InDesign will treat the two colours as one separation on output.
You should also take the time to open each graphic and resave as a native file. This means .psd for Photoshop and .ai for Illustrator. While there, see if you can make sure the colour names and definitions are consistent.

  • HELP! Importing BPAV files into iMovie

I shot some footage on a Sony HXCAM, and am trying to import it into iMovie HD6. The owner of the camera told me I'd probably have to convert the files from BPAV, but that there was a free downloadable converter from Sony that could do that. The only program like that I've been able to find requires me to have Final Cut, which I don't. Any advice?

    Any advice?
As that camera, and its file format, is incompatible with iMovie 6 (and possibly any other version of iMovie):
Either get Final Cut Pro, or
Exchange the camera for one that works with iMovie.

  • Need help-problem importing excel files

I am about to begin work on an annual report that will involve importing charts and tables from an Excel file. I am able to drag and drop the pie charts and bar graphs into Indesign. When I try to do the same with the tables, they don't come across. When I import the excel file using the "place" command in Indesign , the files comes through as text only. I need the chart design and formatting. Any ideas?

If this is going to press then you absolutely should bring those charts into Illustrator. At the very least you want to make sure to convert the RGB black text to real black.
As for the tables, when you place the Excel file, make sure that show options is selected in the place dialog box. Then choose the proper formatting for the table. If you already formatted everything in Excel, choose Formatted Table. I think you'll be fairly pleased.

  • Help on importing XDCAM files

I have Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and it won't import XDCAM EX files. It sees them, but when importing gives the error messege that it has no audio or video streams. I did install the plug-in from Apple (which is what allowed it to see them in the first place) but when importing it won't go. I have a MACBOOK PRO runnning Mavricks.

    Try these steps -
    1) Copy SxS card contents direct to hard drive, do not use Sony Utility or otherwise change files
    2) In Premiere, Import footage via Media Browser
Hope that does it for you
