Help! I installed Yosemite yesterday, something went wrong.

I installed Yosemite yesterday, I noticed that after I installed it everytime I would open my Macbook Pro the screen would be black with the mouse's arrow. Right now I couldn't log in so I clicked on the Guest but it told me it needed to restart. So it went to the white screen with the dark apple and the black loading line at the bottom. It brought me to this screen were the safari was opened and it said it needed my Wifi information to use Safari but it doesn't have the down or top bar. No apps and on the apple side at the top left corner there's no switch user. The options are Startup Disk, Restart or Shut Down. I need help because I need my laptop for school work. I bought this laptop last year.

You can get apple support- see support page - direct call in number - where you can also schedule a call - by sending them a text of your problem -
You might want to make that appointment at the store just in case - so you have it -- you can always cancel if you get over the phone support from apple.
Another options would be to look at Apples authorized repair service partners to see if  one is close by - as one of them may be able to help you.

    Hi,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when trying to open CS2.

I tried installing windows and something went wrong and now it seems I have erased Mac OS too because when I turn it on, it says Insert bootable device. Now what should I do?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Press Option key on boot and select the OS X partition. If it isn't here, press Command and R keys on boot, open Disk Utility, erase the drive and install Lion or Mountain Lion

  • Installed New RAM, something went wrong after

OK, so my sister handed down her old iBook G4 to my other sister. After buying 1 GB for the old iBook, it stopped booting and just caught itself up in an endless loop or trying and failing to load the system. So we took out the memory and called it a day.
Then I took the same 1GB stick and tried to see if it would work in my Powerbook G4. At first it did, no problem, even showed up in the system profiler. Then a few minutes later, the system froze, as it sometimes does. I restarted and got back onto my desktop. Another freeze, this one after a shorter period of time. Eventually, it wouldn't even load the system.
So I took out the memory and put things back the way it was — but the problem persists! I can't load into OS X, and the computer shuts completely down after about 30 seconds of trying. I can get as far as the grey apple with spinning loop thing, but then it shuts down.
I've tried switching the placements of the memory, zapping the PRAM, and going with and without batteries. I don't know what else to do. Please don't tell me my Powerbook is dead, that would be highly inconvenient.

Forget the iBook for now. My Powerbook is a 1.5 Ghz G4, minted in Summer 2004. It came with 512 MB RAM, 60 GB HD, Superdrive, etc. I'm not sure what type of Ram it uses.
Right now I'm trying to reinstall the system based on a thread I read where another person is having a similar problem. I'm getting all sorts of bizarre error messages so I wonder if my HD has bad sectors or other faults.
I think I'll bang on it a bit more because it no longer seems to be a memory/power issue.

  • Help, I can't sign in to Visual Studio Community 2013 "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later."

Hi, can anyone help me further diagnose?
On Windows 7 64-bit, whenever I try to sign into Visual Studio Community 2013 I get a bunch of clicking sounds, and then  "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later."
    I installed the 2013 update 4 just recently (3/23)
I was getting this error back in February

    Hi HuggyPaul,
Thank you for posting in MSND forum.
    >>whenever I try to sign into Visual Studio Community 2013 I get a bunch of clicking sounds, and then  "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later."
Based on your issue, I suggest you could try to use an another microsoft live-in user account to sign in the Visual Studio Community 2013 to check if you can sign in the VS2013 Community with update 4.
Or you could try to use same user account to sing same version of VS2013 Communty with Update 4 on other machien and the check if you can sign in this VS 2013 Community with update 4.
(1)If you could sign in the VS2013 Community update4 by the another user account on your machien, I think that the issue maybe related to your user account.
(2)If you still could not sign in VS 2013 Community update 4, maybe you will need to repair or re-install this VS2013 Community with update 4.
In addition, please tell me what browser you use on your machine.
If your machien just insatall other browser such as chrome, please try to install the IE and then check this issue again.
From this error message, i find a similar thread about your issue, maybe it can help you.

  • Can't install widget browser - Adobe AIR, "Something went Wrong . . ."

I'm having trouble installing the widget browser as I get an error:
"Something went wrong trying to install this application.  Please install the latest version of Adobe AIR from
http://www.adobe.com/go/getair and then try again."  I've included a screen shot at bottom of this post.
I've downloaded the adobe air application and installed several times, but still get this same popup error
message when trying to install the Dreamweaver Widget Browser.
Here are some details of my system:
    OS: Vista Ultimate 64bit
    Browser: Firefox 3.6.3
    Dreamweaver CS5
    Adobe Flash 10 installed
    Adobe Download Manager installed
Adobe Air installed (per Control Panel -> Programs & Features)

Thank you for your replies and help.  I followed your instructions and found that I'm running the current version of AIR:
I couldn't find the version via your first instructions.  When I browsed and ran properties on folder 1.0, I was presented with Version folders with different dates, but could find nothing about the current version.
I followed your second set of instructions and was able to browse to the AIR folder and just run the application and browse for the file I downloaded.  It worked like a charm to visually show me the version, (first screen shot above).
I'm wondering if it's because I try to keep my C:Windows drive as bare as possible by installing all of my applications on another hard drive.  This version of AIR is running on my C drive, yet DW & Photoshop CS5 are running on my "E" drive where there is no folder called "Common Files" for AIR versions.
I've run the command line you had suggested as well in order to keep a log file.  I'll pass along the results when I try to install again.

  • Restore iphone 4 to install the ios 5 but something went wrong while doing back up and whenever i connect the phone to itunes theres an error and the phone turn off after 1min

hi guys i just downloaded the ios 5 and while it was doing back up something went wrong and everything were stopped and shows me a message as an error msg and now whenever i connect my iphone 4(32g) to itunes after 1min it goes off and the battery full and the same thing happend again and again can u help me guys plz i only see connect to itunes on the screen no options even

by reset option do you mean the DFU restore? worked for me, have you tried that?
if not - hold the lock and home button until the power down bar comes up. then hold the lock button for ten seconds - next continue to hold the lock button and press the home button for ten seconds - next release the lock button and hold the home button for 10 seconds. this should be done with the phone tethered. If done right and your itunes is configured as such, the phone will reload the drivers and start up itunes, and then prompt for a restore/update.

  • Strange solution to "Something went wrong trying to install this application."

Basically the solution was to install
    AIR
Beta 3 then install the AIR 1.0, copy "Adobe AIR Application
Installer.exe", "Adobe AIR Application Installer.swf", and "Adobe
    AIR.dll" from the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
AIR\Versions\1.0 directory into the AIR beta 3 directory which I
    think was "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe AIR\Versions\1.0.6".
Then, I associated the .air file with the "airappinstaller.exe"
executable located in the AIR beta 3 directory. Amazingly, doing
this allowed me to install the AIR application without any
    problems.
The problem this addresses is getting the message "Something
went wrong trying to install this application." every time I tried
to install an AIR application. The exact error message is below. I
assumed that I was having problems because I had installed an AIR
beta in the past. I'm not for sure on that though. The AIR
installer log seemed normal. At least there were not any error
messages that I could see. The AIR application installer log did
not output any data for me. I followed the instructions from

  • Adobe Air on Mac: "Something Went Wrong Trying to Install This Application" Error

I have been reading several posts on this, but nowhere can I find a solution.  Within the past few weeks, I receive this error any time I try to install a new AIR application:
"Something Went Wrong Trying to Install This Application.  Please install the latest version of AIR from.."
Then it gives me the download link.  I've tried reinstalling, but that doesn't fixt the issue.  I'm using OS X 10.6.3- is there ANY way to solve this?

Hi Jason.  Can you post your install log here so we can take a look at what the problem may be?  To see the install log, Open "Console" to view logging.  Then copy and paste the log here.
In the meantime, try to uninstall AIR before reinstalling AIR to see if that fixes the problem.
    Thank you!

  • Something Went Wrong Trying to install...

I haven't every been able to get AIR to work on my laptop
since it was called Apollo, but I got a bunch of cool links to
stuff at MAX that I wanted to try out, so I uninstalled the AIR
Runtime I had, rebooted, installed AIR 1.5, and now all attempts to
install AIR applications com back with the dreaded "Something Went
Wrong Trying to install this application." error.
I'm running Vista Home Premium, and I did run into a problem
where the HKLM/Software/Classes/.air keys were locked, and after
wrestling with the Registry permissions, I managed to clean that
up, so the installer now seems to be creating and deleting those
keys properly. However, I'm still getting this "Something Went
    Wrong" error.
    I've created .airappinstall.log and .airinstall.log files in
my home directory, but the .airappinstall.log file remains empty.
The .airinstall.log file shows a successful install of the AIR
    runtime.
I've got several .air files that I've downloaded and saved to
my computer, and these seem to suffer the same problems as if I
were using the "Badge" installations online.
If I uninstall the AIR application, and then use a Badge
install to install both the application and the runtime, both
successfully install. However, any subsequent application installs
fail with the same "Something went wrong" message.

    Do you have Vista 64bit?
Does this look like your problem?

The details you're providing are very helpful, Maj_Dad. With airplane mode enabled,
there would be no message because that disables celluar data. I would recommend
tying that mode with WiFi to see if it still happens. It sounds like this issue
has something to do with one of the applications on the device.

  • Pls install latest version of Adobe AIR-something went wrong

When I try to open an episode in Photoshop CS5 Feature Tour () http://tv.adobe.com/watch/photoshop-cs5-feature-tour/terry-whites-favorite-things-about-cs 5-design-premium/) an AIR error message pops up saying:
Something went wrong trying to install this application. Please install the latest version of Adobe AIR from http://www.adobe.com/go/getair and then try again.
I have downloaded the program from that site, uninstalled AIR and reinstalled the downloaded version to no avail. It just keeps popping up. I click OK on the pop-up error message and the video plays just fine. But it is an annoying pop-up that just won't go away.
    What gives.
    Roxy

No, I bloody hate that feature of Vista and turned it off long ago!
I think you’re on the money with the permissions thing because the digging around on the net, which I read seems to points to that.
But as I say there is loads of conjuncture and advice but no solutions
