Help. I lose connection after standy-by

Hello, I am Adriano, from Italy. Please, I have an iPad connected with D-link G624T (used as router). The connection is protected by password, with dynamic Ip and no Dhcp specifications. It runs everytime I switch on, but if it rests in stand-by and then I come back to it, very often it has lost the connection and I have to restart the router, or find again the connection... The same problem occurs with the notebook: after the standy-by, it writes "only local connection, no Internet". What can I do? Should I set a static Ip? Thank you very much.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
A static IP would probably help, since it sounds like the D-link is dropping the IP it has assigned while not in active use. In this case, renewing the lease, Settings > WiFi > Renew Lease, would not do much good...the IP address no longer exists to be renewed. A static address may help keep the link.
You can look at Settings > WiFi > your network name > IP and see what the address is, then when you reconnect, do the same and see what the new address is. That will show you that the address keeps changing and is the reason you must reconnect to the router.
Hope that helps explain what is going on.

  • HT1695 My phone sttruggles to connect to wifi & if it does connect it loses connection after a few moments

My phone sttruggles to connect to wifi & if it does connect it loses connection after a few moments, This has happened a few months ago and i had a replacement phone sent a couple of weeks later it happened to my husbands i phone 4s and now 4 months later im having the same problem!

  • Airport Express seems to lose connection after a while

My main wifi connection is through an Airport Extreme. The modem is connected to it. I also have in another room an airport express that I use as a bridge for my connection and also to use AirTunes.
Since a few weeks, the Airport Express seems to lose it's connexion after some use. It's always good in the morning, and after few hours, I realize I am no longer connected to the network. The airport light is always green, I see it in my disk utility, but I don't seem to be able to go online anymore. My solution at this point is to select my neighbor's network for few seconds, when I go back on my network, it works fine for an hour or so and I have to redo the process again.
The issue seems to be only with the Airport Express because when I'm in the other end of my house close to my Airport Extreme, I never have that problem.
Any idea what could be wrong with my Airport Express? Could it be a hardware problem? I just bought it 2 months ago. Should I go to exchange it?
    Thanks for any help.

My AirPort connection worked fine when I first set it up a couple of days ago; then it stopped working yesterday: it just gives me the blinking amber light.
Strangely, though, when I use Network Diagnostics in Safari, I get green lights against Airport, Airport Settings, Network Settings, and ISP, but red lights against Internet and Server.
How can ISP be working but not Internet and Server? Also, if I pull out the the cable going into the AirPort and plug it directly into the LAN port on the MacBook, it connects to the internet fine.
    Any comments/help appreciated.

  • My iPad loses connection after waking away from router even in the next room over.

I know it's just my iPad, as when other people with iPads are here (or even just with my iPhone), they still have their connection and mine is lost. Or when I go places, people will have their connection pretty far away from their router and my connection is lost. I have rebooted the iPad and nothing. My iPad screen cracked previously so I took it someplace to get it fixed, so I don't know if that has anything to deal with it? Help please!?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Daughter's new Mac laptop loses connection after about 15minutes on her apartment cable provider network.  Her roommates older Mac works ok as did my daughters olde MacBook what could Be causing the shutoff?

Daughters new macBook loses connectivity on wifi at her apartment after about 15 minutes but works fine on other wifi networks. Her roommates older MacBook works fine on wifi as did my daughters older MacBook.  what could Be the cause?---mmannaxx

Assuming this does not happen at a specific time of day but randomly when ever she connects, she may need to power cycle the modem/router, with the MBP off, after it reestablishes connection and IP addresses, then power up the MBP and reconnect.

  • Brother wi-fi printer loses connection after Mavericks installed.

My printer loses it's wi-fi connection after Mavericks upgrade. If I turn off the printer and then re-start, the connection is re-established for awhile.

I'm having the same issues with my Brother MFC-J6510DW. Worked well for a while but now won't connect to my air or iMac. I've reinstalled all of the latest driver several times now and even when I manually wake the printer up I can't get a connection. I've tried all of the above - DRIVING ME MAD!!!

  • Apple TV loses connection after sleeping

My Apple TV had virtually no problems with a connection when being used, but has this curious quirk of losing it's connection after an extended sleep period. It seems as if it sleeps for more than 8 hours, it will no longer be connected to my network. Viewing the settings for the Apple TV, it shows that my connection should be working and has full strength, but doing a test results in nothing happening. My options are restart or drop connection and input my network password again. This gets really annnoying, because almost everytime I want to use it, I have to do either of those things first.  Are there any internet settings I can chnage so that this stops happening?

Actually same goes for the iPhone after charging it when I sleep, next day, have to turn wifi on and off to get the connection to work properly.

  • Upgraded to lion now my wi-fi loses connection after sleep mode, it still shows as connected but does not go out to the internet. Please help

After I upgraded to lion I have been having constant issue with my wi-fi after sleep mode. I close the lid and when I reopen I open safari and cannot connect to the internet. Wi-fi is on and I am connected to my router, but it doesnt seem to be on the internet. Now how I resolve this issue is turn of the wi-fi and turning it back on, then i am back on the net. this is mos-def a bug i have never had that problem with snow leopard. Please assist or provide hot-fix

I have the same issue and have to cycle the wireless modem on the laptop. Doesn't matter if I'm on a preferred netowrk or no, or if I stay on the same network or move. I come out of sleep, I have to cycle the modem.
It's not life threatening, or anything, but it's a hassle. I didn't have the issue with Snow Leopard.

  • Windows Vista Mode - Loses connection after time

I notice when I am in Windows Mode via bootcamp that after a couple hours or so I will lose the internet connection and have to restart the Mac Pro to reconnect. Any reason this could be happening? I don't experience this in the OS X mode, which makes me think it is a Windows issue. I am plugged in directly to my Airport Extreme router by the way.

tried to use the airport utility to see if there is an firmware upgrade for the ap extreme ?
I have the old non oddly tall one too and never had anything along what you describe

this is a new problem all of a sudden, i lost connection before but rarely

  • Failover Cluster 2008 R2 - VM lose connectivity after live migration

    Hello,
I have a Failover Cluster with 3 server nodes running. I have 2 VMs running in one the the host without problems, but when I do a live migration of the VM to another host the VM lose network connectivity, for example if I leave a ping running, the ping command
has 2 response, and 3 packets lost, then 1 response again, then 4 packets lost again, and so on... If I live migrate the VM to the original host, everything goes OK again.
The same bihavior is for the 2 VMs, but I do a test with a new VM and with that new VM everything Works fine, I can live migrate it to every host.
    Any advice?
    Cristian L Ruiz

    Hi Cristian Ruiz,
What your current host nic settings now, from you description it seems you are using the incorrect network nic design. If you are using iSCSI storage it need use the dedicate
    network in cluster.
If your NIC teaming is iconfigured in switch independent + dynamic, please try to disable VMQ on VM Setting for narrow down the issue area.

    Hi!
    thank you for your reply!
Yes, We are using iSCSI storage, but it has its own NICs for that (2 independant NIcs just to connect the server with the storage) and they are configured to not use those NICs to cluster communication. The team configuration is just for the LAN connectivity.
The NIC teaming is configured using BACS4 software from a DELL server and in Smart Load Balancing and Failover (as you can see here
http://www.micronova.com.ar/cap01.jpg). The link you passed is for Windows Server 2012 and we are running Windows Server 2008 R2, BUT as you can see in the following capture the NICs has that feature disabled
    ( http://www.micronova.com.ar/cap02.jpg ).
One test that I'm thinking to do is to remove teaming configuration and test just with one independant NIC for LAN connection. But, I do not know if you think another choice.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cristian L Ruiz
Sorry, another choice I'm thinking too is to update the driver versión. But the server is in production and I need to take a downtime window for test that.

  • Brand New Macbook loses connection after a few seconds causing my other products using wifi (android & iPad) to lose connection too. Very Frustrating

    - Mac book is 3 days old
    - The Mac book would connect for about 10 seconds with the WiFi then it would disconnect
    - A prompt which states that another device is using the IP address which is in conflict with his Mac book
    - Both the iPad and Android Phone lose internet connection when the Mac book attempts to access the WiFi signal of the DSL-2642B
Am really confused on why it hasnt been connecting, will connect to internet on my android phone and girlfirends iphones WiFi hotspots when i activate them but as i said the Macbook may connect to my router for a few seconds once i have unplugged and replugged my router but drops out and causes my other devices to drop out. The other Devices (Ipad and Android Phone) will connect and stay connected to my router only until i try to connect the macbook, prompting all devices to drop out.
Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated

Find a location with a faster Internet connection. The slow connection message is telling you you have a slow connection or one that's too busy.

Same thing here... on my Titanium Powerbook. I am trying to figure out if it was after I updated to 10.4.4. No problem on my G5. I am going to try installing 10.4.4 again.

  • Envy 100 410a seems to lose connection after a few minutes.

When I first turn on the Envy, each of my devices (Mac Book Air, iPad, and iPhone) talk to it just fine.  But after a few minutes, each of these devices no longer can see the wireless printer.  So, I just turn the printer off and back on and then it works for a few moments until it loses contact again.
Our Windows 7 machine (which talks through the router to the printer) seems to be working just fine.
This was working swell until we installed the new router.

  • AX loses connection after being plugged into new modem

Our Internet connection had become real slow. (HN9000 Modem through HUGHES net satellite service).  Our provider did some diagnostics and determined we needed a new modem and our satelitte was out of alignment.  Hooked up the new modem. All was fine for about 2 days. Internet connection lost and yellow light appeared on the AX.  I have to unplug the modem and or the AX and then re establish the network connection and the AX connection. This has now been going on for about 3 weeks. I have made numerous calls to my provider and they claim it's the AX.  (version 802.11N).   The AX is only about 2 feet from my MAC.  I have a brand new ethernet cord. ALL connections are tight!   HELP??  (If I connect the modem directly to the MAC, No issues) Thank you

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
