Help! I lost my old projects when I upgraded to Yosemite.

Help! I lost my old projects, and old videos that were stored on imovie when I upgraded to Yosemite. It asked if I wanted to upgrade my projects, etc., but now they are not showing up even after I clicked that option!!! Please help! Thank you!

The steps below may help get your events and projects to appear in iMovie.
Verify that the latest iMovie update is installed.
Open the Mac App Store.
Click the Updates tab.
Click Update All or the Update button that appears next to iMovie.
After verifying that you have the latest version of iMovie, you can update your projects and events by following these steps.
In the Finder, click the Go menu and choose Home.
Open the Movies folder.
In the iMovie Projects and iMovie Events folders, you’ll find a file named “UpdatedtoiMovie10.” Move this file to the Trash from both folders.
Open iMovie.
Choose File > Update Projects and Events.
iMovie will update your projects and events. You can repeat these steps for projects and events stored on external drives.

The backups for your version are date-time stamped as the name and with an extension of .fcpproject. They look like this.
The original project is named CurrentVersion.fcpproject.
You need to replace the CurrentVersion with the backup file and rename it to be CurrentVersion.fcpproject.
With FCPX closed, I suggest you move the original to the Trash, but not empty it. Then promote your backup one level higher in the project folder hierarchy (to be at the same level that the original previously occupied. Then rename the backup.
Open up FCPX, which should now recognize your project.

Move the incompatible iPhoto version to the Trash, before you try to reinstall from the AppStore, but don't empty the Trash.

The main idea is to move the iPhoto app to the Trash, so Spotlight does not see it as installed, reload the AppStore Purchases tab with ⌘R, and then to try to download again from the App Store - from your Purchases tab, not from the main page, since you can neither buy iPhoto nor update it, but you can reinstall, if your AppleID is associated with it.

You need to provide more details about what happened. But, here is something you can check.
When you run Photo and it converts your library, it doesn't delete the iPhoto library. Look in your Pictures folder - you should see two libraries:
iPhoto Library.migratedphotolibrary (this is the original iPhoto library)
Photos Library.photoslibrary (this is the new Photos library)
You should still be able to open the original iPhoto library. The iPhoto application was not deleted from your computer. (It was probably removed from your Dock if you had an icon there.) Look in the Applications folder, find iPhoto, and run it. It should show your original library with all your original images.
It is always a good idea to back up your photos (and the iPhoto library) before trying these migrations. Problems do occur...

last thing you can try would be go to settings, general, settings, reset all settings
if that does not work, a factory restore will be needed...

When I upgrade to yosemite, when I have to send and receive mail is very slow. Mails take a long time to be send and receive, and the mail boxes disconnect frequently. I am using the yosemite mail server and don't have this issue with user with Maverick.

So let me see if I understood it right... In Mavericks you didn't had this issue, this only happens in Yosemite and you are using Apple Mail, not another mail client. Have you tried in System Preferences > Internet Accounts unchecking and rechecking the email checkbox on your account?? If that doesn't works try deleting and adding your account.

Question of usage of old software when you upgrade

Good day to all.
Just new here so please be gentle. Do any of you still retain the older version of adobe when you upgrade to the latest software? Like for example CS4 and having CS5.5 on your PC? Since you have license, are we allowed to use both or directly use the newer version and discard the old one? Just want to know what to do on these kind of situation.

This question is better asked in the Creative Suites forums. But yes, it is absolutely normal to retain the previous versions. In fact, almost essential for some products. For instance, as an InDesign user, I have CS3, CS4, CS5, and CS5.5 all installed on our machines, because the newer versions cannot write to older version files.
The installer will not delete older versions. It's entirely your call. And I would suggest you not do so.
The EULA has some language suggesting that this usage is limited to a transition period, whose time period is undefined. In practice, no one is concerned about such things -- we're just worried about dealing with older documents when they arrive.

If you are saying that you lost support for your video camera under Lion then I would say it's very unlikey the maker of the video camera will support it under Mountain Lion.

I somehow lost my iMovie app when I upgraded to Snow Leopard

I bought my MBP in late 2008. Leopard was installed on it, and it came with iMovie. When I upgraded to Snow Leopard, I can't seem to find iMovie.
So after spending $26 to upgrade to Snow Leopard, do I have to spend $75 to buy iLife to get iMovie?

I can't open iTunes when I upgraded to Yosemite

I have a 2008 mac book pro. I recently upgraded to Yosemite and now I can't seem to open iTunes. In the app store under 'Updates' it says I have downloaded iTunes 12.0.1 on Oct. 18.14. But when I go to iTunes in the applications folder it says I have 12.0.1.26 on Oct.19.14. I did download the iTunes update before I downloaded Yosemite. I was thinking that I needed to uninstall iTunes. I used the 'sharing and permissions' method, but it didn't work. Help!

HELP. -- Lost all uploaded songs when I reinstalled iTunes

Had to have new hard drive installed on PC. When I reinstalled iTunes on the PC all my music that was uploaded on my iPad was deleted . Sync all devices was turned off what else needs to be turned off? I am hoping the tunes are on still on my old lap top.but am afraid to turn it on until I figure out what went wrong. I also have most of them on an android phone. How can I load them back on the PC and iPad from laptop or phone. I also thought my songs were backed-up in icloud but apparently not. Only songs I have are the ones I purchased from the store.

Media (music, fillms, tv shows) can only downloaded once, which is why you are advised to make and maintain backups - are you sure that re-installing iTunes has removed your content, and it's not just that you havn't told iTunes where your content is ?

Audio lost on idvd project when burned

I am making an idvd slideshow with pictures from i photo as well as mpeg4 quicktime files i have no volume on the mpeg 4 files becuase i chose it that way since it is a recorded video of a soundless movie reel. I took several songs and imported them to garage band so i could match the songs to certain areas in my slideshow slideshow.i cut some short and spliced them together then i shared the song to itunes. then from itunes i put the song which was really a group of spliced songs into my it took about a week of work but i finaly got it working i preview the slideshow and it works fine. when i burn it all the sound is great in the beginning but towards the end there is no sound at all i don't know what to do please respond this video needs to be finished soon!!!

I recommend that you reduce the number of slides to 99. Since each slide is treated as a separate chapter, your DVD player will drop the audio on the 100th slide.
