HELP! I'm losing my mind - Audigy 2 ZS digital coax output to receiver

I've very close to throwing my Vista media center PC out the window trying to get my Audigy 2 ZS to output a digital signal to my home theater amp/receiver. I've read as much as I can find on the subject and, as far as I understand it, the digital out 3.5mm mini jack on the back of the ZS is actually a multi speaker output designed for connection to Creative speakers, but to output a digital signal to my amp I need to plug in a 3.5mm mini jack to RCA connector then connect my digital coax cable to it and the other end to the amp, so I bought this little guy to connect to the ZS and my RCA coax cable: http://www.rakuten.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=263718980
Then I went to Vista's Sound-Playback settings and disabled the onboard sound (which was working perfectly thru the amp via its SPDIF digital optical output) and made the "SDPIF Out Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS (WDM)" the default device. I had already installed Daniel's excellent driver/software pack 5 for it so I have the latest drivers and control software. Then I went to the Creative Audio Console and selected "SPDIF Passthrough (Dolby Digital / DTS Digital Out)". Then I did a reboot for good measure.
In the meantime I set my amp to the Digital Coax 1 input into which I'd plugged the coax cable from the ZS's digital out port. When I rebooted and played music I get the green bars flashing next to SPDIF Out in the Playback tab of Vista's Sound settings indicating that the sound card is outputting an SPDIF signal, but don't hear anything out of the amp. Interestingly if I change the "Digital Output (PCM) Sample Rate Setting" to 96Khz in the Creative Audio Console my amp recognizes the change and flashes 96Khz which makes me think there is at least some information coming down that coax (I then switched it back to 48Khz).
The most annoying thing about all this is that my crappy onboard mobo sound has a digital optical output which connects directly to the amp and just works immediately without any messing around - when my amp receives a DTS or Dolby signal it says it's receiving that type of signal and pushes it out to my 5.1 speakers nicely. And this ZS card is supposed to be an upgrade to give me more functionality but I can't get a peep out of it (digitally), although the analog speaker outputs do work on the ZS so it's not a completely faulty card and actually makes me think I'm probably just missing something very basic.
I'd be very grateful for any suggestions/ideas before my media center ends up as a new modern art feature in my yard.
Cheers
Simon

Generally i found this thread because i've also got troubles with coax output my problem is in choppy sound with scratches and clipping in Windows 7, when i try to play Dolby Digital or DTS audio in movies or even test sounds from speaker control panel. In win xp all works fine - and in win7 only pcm stereo can normaly being output.
I try with different drivers (official and from daniel) and nothing helps...
yep...bios of my motherboard was configured to lower CPU ratio and voltage when idle (C1E option). I turn this option off and all works fine now)

  • Passing values by reference to a graph seems to be not working... help, I'm losing my mind! ;)

    I'm bordering on psychosis now.
    Grr..
I'm trying to pass an array to a waveform graph by reference. The array is an array of I16 data.
I have verified that the data in question is correct, and when viewed view probe (RIGHT before going into the property node, mind you) it is something like:
    2048
    2053
    2066
However, when you look at the front panel it's totally different. Turning on Autoscale Y and looking at the data showed that instead it was displaying:
    -1024 2048 0 0 (two other numbers) (two other numbers) 0 0 (etc.)
I imagine that it is some sort of typecasting problem, but I cannot figure it out.
I note that the word "value" on
the property node is Orange, indicating that it is writing a DBL. I had the Refnum Control include data type, but even so, it appears Orange.
The Waveform Graph itself was of type DBL. I never changed it, but in the main program, I did wire an I16 value to it, which SEEMED to change the Graph to type I16. Is there a more rigorous way of changing a Waveform Graph's data type. (This could be the problem)
I'll attach the front panel with the sub-vi in question. Please help or I may explode.

  • Please help, i am losing my mind with the highlighting on my project

when i view my project in iDVD, it looks fine, but when i burn a copy and try to watch it on my tv, the highlighting for the buttons isn't working properly. the highlighted text does not line up with the button and you can see 2 overlapping words in 2 different colors. this happens regardless if i use the T for text or the button for any particular theme. when the button is highlighted, the cursor/highlighted word looks like a mess...

Hello, I had similar problem when some of my chapters cant be clicked on, my problem was the way I was spacing the chapters on a page, sometimes when they are close to each other, it would not be able to highlight at all. Maybe they way you spaced your chapters. I dont know if that will help at all, but it just my thought.

  • HELP!!!!!!!!!!! I AM LOSING MY MIND WITH MAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can someone please help me!!!!!! I have been using mail for 8 months, then all of a sudden I started to get this error "The SMTP server “plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com” rejected the password for user “[email protected]” I have check all passwords, and settings.. still won't accept it.. I am not sure what I am doing wrong or miss.. won't send and now I am not receving my mail from Gmail either, and I just set it up// losing my mind.. not sure what to do... and the people at the Apple store here not fully understanding as.. German is their first language....HELP ME!!!!!

    I would do the following:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Try removing the com.apple.mail.plist file from your /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Don't delete it but rather put it somewhere else such as your Desktop. Make a backup of your /Home/Library/Mail/ folder just in case.
Then reconfigure Mail. Your accounts should still be there so nothing you have stored on the computer should be lost.

  • SWF Banner works in Live View not in Any Browser? Losing my mind...

    Hello,
I'm not a pro but have some web building experience. I'm currently building a website for myself in Dreamweaver CS5. I made a simple flash banner where pictures fade in and out. I placed it into my template and it works fine in Live View but not in Chrome, Firefox or IE.
It has gotten to the point where I am losing my mind.
I create a new HTML doc. Drag and drop ANY swf file. Saved Swf files as flash 8 and flash 9 even. Updated my flash last night for my browsers. Again... See it fine in Live View and not in the browsers i've mentioned.
The browsers (except chrome which displays nothing) show this message.
Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.
Even after flash updates and using a swf file saved as an older veriosn of flash (tried 9,8 and 5 for a laugh).
Here is the html code (all generated by Dreamweaver). I am totally baffled and have spent HOURS scrying the internet to no avail. I even tried this in a trial version of Dreamweaver CS6 but had the same reslut. Please help me. What's going on?

  • Something is driving me insanely crazy. I am losing my mind.

    My website is: Tangoislands.com
and if you visit this page you will see every island you mouse over brings a dropdown menu.
I designed this page on dreamweaver cs3. Now i own cs5 and I am not able to find that window where I was able to create all that dropdown menu items.
    Where is it?
Is it replaced with something else?
when i am upgraded to cs5, am i not able to re-edit all that menu items?
I am losing my mind. Please help me.

MM Rollover Menus are history.  Thank goodness, too, because they were  the worst menu  ever. For the whole sordid story, see below:
    http://losingfight.com/blog/2006/08/11/the-sordid-tale-of-mm_menufw_menujs/
Adobe had the good sense to replace them several years ago with Spry Menus.  Or you could simply re-build your island menu with CSS Rollovers.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Digital Coax Help

I have an Audigy 2 ZS on my computer and I'm trying to use the digital out to hook it up to my AV Reciever. I bought an digital coax cable and put it in the digital out slot but I hear no sound and I have it set up to be using the Digital connection. I've read through the help on here but can't figure out what I need to use digital coax. People say that it is possible so how do I use it's@
    76.25.85.

    !] Other thought
I have a Multi-Ch In on my reci'ver, so if i bought 3. 3.5mm minijack to L/R RCA cables, can i just use the analog output and set that straight to the Multi-Ch In of my reciever? If i did that how would I connect the Subwoofer/Center speaker (as in which one is L and which is R of the split)

  • Audigy 2ZS Digital

Just would like a confirmation on this...
If you connect the Audigy 2ZS digital out to a standard stereo reciever (sony) digital coax in it will not damage the reciever?
Sounds silly but I know the digital out is meant for connection to propietary creative lab speakers, and I have read that connecting it to other devices can damage them.
Also I should use a regular small "headphone" jack to connect to the digital out on the audigy 2ZS? This should be a mono cable also?
    Please help.. thanks!!!
If you can link to the cable/adaptor I would need that would be great!Message Edited by asharabi98 on 05-29-2006 :23 AM

Any stereo cable with jack on one end and RCA conenctors at the other is fine. It will not damage the receiver. Something like this (use one of the RCA only - I think is the white one for front speakers):
    <IMG src="http://us.st.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/trianglecables-site_900_56428">
Read the FAQ about digital connection and be prepared to have only stereo sound in games because Creative soundcards cannot send surround sound from games over digital connection.

  • Audigy 2 on Yamaha RX V620RDS Receiver System

    Hi,
Just went into upgrading my sound system. I bought Yamaha Receiver V620RDS (2x30W) and 2 Speakers (60W each). I connected it to the Central output on the Audigy and connected it to the receiver. And then the problems started. When Receiver is volumed at high and computer low, the speakers have a background noise. Like it is over powered. But the sound it self is good.
Then I lowered the receiver volume and increased the computer main volume and then the background noise was cleared BUT then since I had to increase the computer main volume, now when there is too much sound coming from the computer, the sounds gets clicks and pops.
So in any way I need to keep the Receivers volume lower so I dont get the background overpower noise and on the other hand then keep the computer main volume higher BUT then with clicks and pops.
Seems Im in a no way out situation. Does anybody have any solution for this? Help would be much appreciated. I payed quite a few $ for the whole system so would just like to have it in working condition.
I experimented with Digital out but in best case it gave me some weird noise sound. On the receiver speakers.
Its a shame that Audigy 2 doesnt have a clean line out.
Please help me.... getting desperate little by little.
    Thanks,

    Stellarlight,
Please keep your language clean in the forum.
If your receiver have 6 channel RCA input, you could get a /8 inch Stereo minijack to dual RCA cable to connect the sound card to the receiver. Something like this

  • Audigy 2 ZS spdif output prob

I've recently installed an Audigy 2 ZS into my new PC. I can get sound out through headphones - from CD and DVD. I've connected the spdif out jack to my surround sound decoder - this all worked fine on my old PC with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card. Now on the new PC with the Audigy, I can't get any sound out of the spdif connection. I've set PowerDVD to spdif output and the card setting to spdif passthru as per the instruction in this forum but still nothing.
What can I expect to get out of the spdif connection ? From what I've read, it's clear that I should be able to get Dolby Digital and that I can't get sound from games. What about CDs and mp3s etc . ?
Thanks in advance for help / info / suggestion ...

    More details :
"Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device" is checked</LI>
"Use SPDIF" is selected in PowerDVD</LI>
"SPDIF Passthru" is selected in Creative Audio Console</LI>
From what I've read on this forum, that ought to do the trick. I've got a stereo minijack to left-right RCA and have tried both sides. No signal that my pre-amp can recognise.
    Help !?

  • Audigy 4, digital out would not work, now external box does not power

I recently purchased a audigy 4 sound card. At first it was almost as if there was a loose wire somewhere. Sometimes the external break out box would power up and sometimes it would not. There was no loose wire and it now no longer powers up at all. The only thing that was worse than the intermittent power up was the digital out on the box. First of all I was told that you could use the spidf out on the box to a receivers digital in, this never worked now matter what settings I tried. I was then told to try the mini out. So I went and bought a mono mini out, that was a joke, didn't fit right rarely worked. I then went and bought a mini stereo plug to RCA out, that fit right and worked a few times, It no longer works at all.
I had the settings set up correctly with the spidif passthrough.
Has anyone else had any problems getting the digital out to work with a receiver?
The analog works fine, but just like the audigy mp3 the bass output for my sub is weak and almost nonexistent. I have a nice hifi/ht system I am trying to get this card to work with.

    hello there!
i have the same problem - when i use the equalizer i can save a preset without problems,
but if i reboot the pc i first have to open the equalizers window to make the equalizer work. without having opened the equalizer window it seems to be not activated.
does anybody have an idea how to fix that problem?

  • SB Audigy (24bit) & Digital

    Hi
Will be very grateful if someone can advise, whether the SB Audigy (st Gen Audigy) can work with the Internal Digital I/O card the is used for the SB Li've Series.
    Regards,
    Knite00

Alright, well, what about if I buy the digital IO adapter (the one that has digital coax and optical on it)...will i be able to hook a digital audio cable from my TV to the adapter and the adapter hooks in the my sound card. Will i be able to hear sound from the TV through the speakers hooked into my computer?

  • Just need 1/8 inch to RCA for digital coax out with audigy se right?

DJust need /8 inch to RCA for digital coax out with audigy se right? Hi there,
I need a low profile soundcard that can deli'ver digital 5. through either coax or optical, looks like the audigy se will do just that. I have a yamaha receiver with DTS, DD, etc with a coax input that I want to use. I want to confirm that all I really need is a cable that has an /8 inch plug for the blue digital out on the soundcard with an RCA end for my receiver.... sounds simple enough to me but I want to make sure. I know I can get the digital I/O module but don't see a point if I just need the cable I mentioned.
    Thanks.

Let's take Battlefield 242 for example. The game will not allow me to specify hardware sound.
That would be because that card DOES NOT have any hardware on it, it is a totally software dri'ven card.
And yes your old Li've card is much better than the Audigy SE. The Audigy SE is nothing more than a re-named SB Li've 24 bit, which is also a software based card (same applies to the X-Fi Xtreme Audio, a POS card that should have never been given the X-Fi name).
