HELP!! I'm missing about 30 songs and a book! They were just here!

I tried to backup my itouch yesterday and I think it deleted about 30+ songs and a book. They were all here yesterday...but now they are gone! I can prove I purchased them all through the purchase history on my itunes account. But they are gone from my itouch. All of my other songs seem to be in tact (about 128). Just these 30+ songs and the book. They just disappeared! Will apple let me get them back? About $40 worth of music!

Nope; that's the thing. I thought I synced up my itouch yesterday. But I went to listen to my audio book tonight it was gone. So I checked my itunes library and it wasn't there either. Then I also noticed a lot of my music wasn't there as well. So I checked my itouch a little more thoroughly and that too is missing music1 So something really bad must have happened. basically, I'm missing about 30+ songs and a book. for what its worth, I can prove I purchased everything based on my itunes purchase history. I guess I'm just wondering or hoping Apple will let me download again.

Just days ago, I downloaded and created folders for two batches of photos and now they are missing. They were not deleted by anyone, and even if they were, they were not found in my trash can. What happened? They were erased from my camera, so I am upset.

They were not deleted and even if they were, were not found in my trashcan. I have looked through every folder and they are not there. Is there a bug that can get into iPhoto to do this? Is there a program Apple offers to retrieve lost photos? Thank you.

How do you know they were not deleted? Is it possible that they were moved to the trash and the trash has been emptied, if not by you, perhaps by someone else?
In the best case, you mean they were not deleted from your camera. If so, it will be simple to merely download again from your camera after you have corrected any problem with your Mac or workflow.
If you have a way to be certain that your two folders were not deleted from your Mac, follow the directions provided by your Mac's Disk Utility to repair your Disk (not Disk Permissions.) On more than one occasion, disk repair has restored the visibility of missing folders I knew I had not deleted. If you have trouble with the process, post back which specific Mac OS version ( > About This Mac) you are using so we can offer specific help.
It is also possible that the missing folders might be saved somewhere you do not expect them to be.
It is also possible that they may merely be invisible and, thus, not showing in your Finder windows even after performing a Disk Repair.
Here are some more ideas you can consider:
Restart Mac and then look where you expect the folders to be. They may be visible there now.
If not, try a Spotlight search for the folder name(s) you used. Spotlight may give you a list of places to look. If you don't remember the folder name(s), try a search for the file type your camera uses for saved images. My cameras save "jpg" files, but yours may save other image file types.
You can also open a finder window and use the window's search oval to search. The method allows you to use the search "+" button to add invisible items via the "File Visibility" choice.

If you are using any version of Mac OS X, I doubt this statement can be true.
If you select your disk volume name (not the Media item) in the sidebar of your Mac's Disk Utility, you will see that the number of Folders and files on your disk is very large. For example,I keep my startup disk small and write most of my files to other disks. Even so, my startup disk contains more than 195,000 folders.
If you mean you used some software to search each folder, please post back the name of the app you are using.

I have not had the problem you describe, nor have I heard of such an iPhoto Bug.
I have used every version of iPhoto I have seen including the current new version: iPhoto '11 version 9.5 (902.7). You can find the version you are using by executing the iPhoto > About iPhoto menu command and post it back here.

I am not aware of any Apple apps that work specifically on photo files. If you know the pathname to the lost files, and if you are comfortable with Unix commands, you might be able to use your Mac's Terminal utility to retrieve at least some of your images. However, it will be MUCH simpler to merely download another copy from your camera.
You can search the Mac App Store for "unerase" to find several apps that can unerase files, including deleted photo files, in certain circumstances even after the trash has been emptied. To determine whether one or more of them may meet your needs, see their product info and reviews for specifics about each one.

Try the following:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup

That is becuase Pages 5.1 has numerous unnounced surprises for the unwary user. Among the surprises:
- it strips out images from headers and footers without warning
- it strips out bookmarks without wanring (yes, all those bookamrks you laboriously put into a document: poof! Gone.)
- it strips out alternating left/right margins, without warning.
There are many more suprises, as you'll see from glancing through these discussions. They fall into two main categories: things that are present in version 4.3 but that are missing in 5.1, things like
-mail merge
-meaningful Applescript/Services support
-non-contiguous text selection
-ability to set defaul zoom
-ability to see comments while editing
-ability to print comments
-ability to read RTF files
-ability to drag in hyperlinked ted from a browser
These about about 90 other features are gone.
Then there are the bugs. Hyperlinks do not reliably export to a PDF file any longer. There have been multiple problems with printing report. Some fonts place stray characters in the headers. Many reports of the program crashing, courrupting files, etc.
Fortunately for you, the previous version of Pages is still on your system. Export any documents you may have created or edited with Pages 5.1 (another great surprise: files created with version 5.1 cannot be read by any previous version of Pages: not just 4.3 but even 5.01!). Then trash 5.1 and use 4.3 until (unless?) it is stable and has a reasonably robust feature set.

You can go to Settings/iCloud and delete the account, then create a new iCloud account. You can still use the same account for the app store though.

Go to www.ecamm.com and d/l PhoneView.
To prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - hold down the 'option' and the 'command' keys when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - key the keys down until the iPod/iPhone is listed under the Devices list in iTunes - this will prevent a sync from taking place.
With PhoneView you can take the content from the device to the iTunes library.

besides, LION is still sortof not quite has a bit beta around the edges and not ready for business production work or workstations.
I thnk they have always come out 6 months too soon and when 10.3.2 or later, .4.3+ etc and same here 10.7.2 maybe or more like .3 as well.

Backing Up My Songs and Audio Books AND Updating to 3.1.2

1. My Touch is set for manual management of my songs and audiobooks and a few podcasts. What's on the Touch is not exactly what is in my Music Folder on my MacBook Pro which is the "home" computer. Most of my songs on the Touch are not from the iTunes store, but from my CD collection. How can I back up what is on the Touch? I've been told a third party software is necessary. I've also heard I can drag my data to the desktop of my MacBook Pro then burn it to CDs but not DVDs. That would take forever. This is all very awkward and unsophisticated in my opinion. I would think Apple could do better.
2. Last night I wanted to update my Touch to 3.1.2. I started the update but aborted it when I read in the update infor panes that my Touch would be reset to Default as a result of this updating process. I interpreted that to mean I was going to suddenly lose all of my music library, audiobooks and podcasts on the Touch. So, I aborted the update. Was I right? Will I lose my songs, etc. when doing this update? If so, all the more reason to know how to backup what is on the Touch and reinstall it after the update.

I'm not sure why you are worried about this. You might want to spend a few minutes with the manual so you get a better understanding of the relationship between iTunes and your iPod. It is anything but awkward and unsophisticated as you say.
1. Are you running Time Machine? - if you are, your library is backed up. However, if you want an additional backup, use an external hard drive and copy your library to it or burn it to a DVD. If you sync your touch regularly, there is absolutely no reason to copy the contents from the touch (software required - Google "Pod to Mac") to a backup drive.
2. The update process wipes your iPod, installs the new firmware, restores your previous data, and re-syncs your library. In other words, you have the same iPod with a new version of firmware. Everything is where you expect it, nothing is lost. You basically don't have to do anything except start the process.

I downloaded some songs, and it says they downloaded, but the song cuts off half way through. What do i do?

All you need to do is go to the iTunes store, and then go to purchased in the right side of iTunes store. It is under the quick links. Then you will be able to download the past purchases there.

the songs and books should be attached to your AppleID.
If you have the songs and books in a device have them transfer purchases while connected to the new pc.
Or on the new pc, log into iTunes and go to the Purchased area (havent gotten to see where its at in iTunes 11 yet, but in iTunes 10.x its under Quick Links) and they should be there.
If not, make sure you don't have multiple AppleID's.
