Help!! I'm new to all this ipod stuff......

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to search itunes for The Beatles & Led Zepplin. Why can't I find them? All I get are songs by tribute bands. Am I going crazy or are these artists not on itunes? Sorry if this has been answered before.

The reason why the beatles are not on itunes is because of a law suite that took place a while ago
If you notice apple use the apple as their logo as well as the beatles record label (apple records)
It was agreed that apple would be able to use the apple logo if it was not involved in the sale of music
as you know apple then launched the ipod and itunes and went from computers into the music world thus breaking the gentlemans agreement with the apple records
this is prob the reason why you cant find these bands on itunes
as for led zep they are on atlantic records and prob have refused the agreement to sell on itunes as they prob have their own online store so i recommend checking out the atlantic records website in order to download and buy led zep stuff

Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Check the mute switch on the side above the volume rocker. If the red dot shows, the phone is muted. You'll still be able to play the ringtones to select one.
I find that the switch can be thrown to "mute" by accident when I put my iPhone in my belt holster.

No, it doesn't have claim code. Only printers with ePrint enable/ready have claim codes.

New to all this - questions about my setup

I have recently been loaned an airport express to play with. My imac connects wirelessly to a netgear router. I have added the airport express as a client (I think). It works fine for streaming music to my hifi in the kitchen, but if I move the airport express to another room and connect it to the hifi there the music streams for a few seconds, silence for a few seconds, music a few seconds etc.
I have 2 questions:
1. Is this likely to be just due to a worse signal in the second room. (The distance to the router is very similar although the AE is plugged in behind a cabinet)
2. Presumably my imac is sending music to the router and then to the airport express. Would this be improved by connecting the imac to the router by ethernet, or can the imac talk directly to the airport express and bypass the router.
I hope the above is clear - I am a bit puzzled by all this. Thanks for any suggestions.

Yes but then your AirPort Express (AX) would be creating a separate wireless network and your iMac would have to decide which network to connect to (Internet or stream music).

What is the story with all this mac stuff

Recently bought a imac and was happy out at the start. I was on adobe prem ele 7 before on the pc. Before i go any further I am loving FCE 4 !!\
Ok here it is first off having to export movies out of imovie so annoying it just takes so long why you cant burn a dvd straight out of imovie like in adobe prem ele i just don't know. Then there is all the setting s in imovie import and export options yet in adobe prem ele i used to import my media staright in and adobe reconised it and put it out there with no hassel and the quality was really good now I am getting slightly fizzy looking video in imovie ( which i thought i had sorted with the great help from f shippey ) I get this fuzzy look in my video when i export via quicktime.
When i play it on my desktop in quicktime along side the same clip from finder in quicktime there is a definate loss of quality in my clips from imovie.....
Ok so I got side tracked there a bit back to idvd I burnt a 50minute project with titles e.tc on to verbatim dvd-r at 1x and 4 x speed and when i played them back onto my dvd player they stick half way through for a couple of secs and then play on, this is crazy and its not the first time i'm so annoyed with idvd and i don't think its up to the job at all. I never had one dvd stick in adobe and thats built into the premier ele software , i edited over 60 videobooth wedding dvds on the pc last year and never had one sent back for sticking... The FIRST one i do on the mac and it gets sent back to me for sticking so i run through some tests myself and everyone stutters/ sticks ... this is not good enough and i am wandering if anyone has any ideas or if they have experienced anything simular?
I have spent over 3500 euro on my mac and software printer etc and I am not happy with this..... and ps toast titanium 10 pro has been ordered so will check that out.

The copy you got with your computer was a trial version. Registering it allowed you to use it for a given period of time. After that if you want to keep using the software, you have to buy it. This is not a new concept.

If I have my own dvd's and i want them on my ipod how in the world do i get them on there without paying for some kind of software, or is there any way to do that. if some could help I would greatly appreciate it alot. cause man my head hurts from trying to go so many ways.

Help with adding new song to 2007 iPod shuffle

I have an iPod shuffle from 2007 and just recently went to add new songs to it. Itunes program keeps telling me I have to erase everything and reload w/ new playlist I've added?? Confused, don't remember it working like this last year when I added songs. Any help??

With the 1st and 2nd gen iPod shuffle, it can only be associated with one iTunes library at a time. That has always been the design. It is basically like a mobile playlist for iTunes the library. The 3rd and 4th gen shuffles work more like the "bigger" iPods that have a screen, which is different from the very simple 1st and 2nd gen.
If you previously used this shuffle with a different iTunes library, iTunes is asking if you want to associate the shuffle with the iTunes library you are now using.

Somehow, in trying to reorganize my I-Tunes library, I screwed things up. I-tunes will no longer play an entire album w/o stopping after each song. Thanks for any help you can give - I am very new to this. -B

Have the tracks become unchecked? iTunes will skip unchecked tracks, so if they're all unchecked, iTunes will play one and then stop. If this is indeed the case, re-checkmark the tracks - command-click on any checkbox will select or unselect them all - and you should then have continuous playback. Hope this helps.

Okay so the sad face came up on my ipod so i went to this website and put it in disk mode...and connected it to my computer..first off the computer didnt reconize it and secondly it wont come out of disk mode..how do i fix this? 1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
6. Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
For Window computer
Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
In case you do not manage to do a “Format” on a window computer, try to use some 3rd party disk utility software, e.g.“Partition Magic”.
C. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
Tips
a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iPod updater.
b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”

A. Diagnostic mode solution
If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service.
B. Format your iPod with a start disk
I have not tried this solution myself, I heard that there were few successful cases that the users managed to get their iPod (you must put your iPod in disk mode before connecting with a computer) mounted by the computer, which was booted by a system startup disk. For Mac, you can use the Disk Utility (on the Tiger OS system disk), for PC user, you can use the window OS system disk. Try to find a way to reformat your iPod, again it does not matter which format (FAT32, NTFS or HFS+) you choose, the key is to erase the corrupted system files on the iPod. Then eject your iPod and do a Reset to switch out from Disk Mode. Reboot your computer at the normal way, connect your iPod back with it, open the iPod updater, and hopefully your iPod will appear there for the Restore.
If none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired.

1. . Disconnecting the Hard Drive and battery inside the iPod – Warning !! Your iPod warranty will be waived once you open the iPod.
In Hong Kong there are some electronic shops offering an iPod service for Sad iPod, the first thing they do is to open up the iPod’s case and disconnecting the battery and the Hard Drive from the main board of the iPod. Wait for 5-10 minutes and reconnecting them back. The reason behind which I can think of is to do a fully reset of a processor of the iPod. In case you want do it itself and you believe that you are good on fixing the electronics devices and have experience to deal with small bits of electronic parts, then you can read the following of how to open the iPod case for battery replacement (with pictures)

Have I tried this myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case.
