so I do t kno until todaythat 3rd party apps were like illegal I figured that since I bought the phone and I pay for it I could put more stuff on it! Well guess I was wrong thats like buying a new computer but not being able to download anything on it. Can apple trace my apps? What would they do? What should I do? I like installler.app everything on it rox! Y can't apple just let us add 3rdparty apps? Rawr! If I did a restore they would go away right? But Id rather not have to! S/1 help me!

They are intentionally bricking the phone for those that unlock the sim card. The fear is they would brick the phone because you have Lights Out, 5Dice or Apollo.
You cannot make that statement because you are not an Apple employee with actual knowledge of Apple policies. By stating it in that way you make it sounds authoritative when it is not.
The only statement Apple has made can be found at http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070924/aqm208.html?.v=5, wherein it makes clear that iPhones are not being bricked as a deliberate policy but as and when it happens as a result of damage caused by hacking to unlock the device. That it is an effect of the owner's action not a cause of Apple's.
The statement was also clarified by Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, who is quoted to have said in an interview: ''This has nothing to do with proactively disabling a phone that is unlocked or hacked ... It's unfortunate that some of these programs have caused damage to the iPhone software, but Apple cannot be responsible for ... those consequences.''

Thats what the email that replied to me... now me being stupid i wasnt thinking and thought this guy was trying to help me out and hope he actually was... now later on yesterday my friend called me saying "hey whats up , why you call me... i said " i didnt call you.. and he said i left him a voicemail about watching *********** which was pretty freaky.. because i never called him or left him a voice mail. So at school i listiend to the voicemail and scared the heck out of me!! then it hit me !! Connect it to a wall charger for at least 30 minutes. After that time, while it is still connected to the charger, Reset it by holding down the sleep and home buttons until you see the Apple logo, then let go of the buttons. Might take a few tries.

I am using a mac book pro with Leopard OS. when I switch my laptop on it flashes a grey folder with a question mark on a grey screen, after the chime. I have tried all the things mentioned in another discussion. none of those have helped. HELP! im scared.

You need to purchase Leopard if you don't have the DVD and reinstall OS X:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

Unfortunately unless you had already activated find my phone, there isn't much you can do except carry on looking.
For what it's worth, the sooner you tell your parents, teachers etc, the greater your chance of recovering it might be.

REBOOT PROBLEM!!! HELP

A few weeks ago i rebooted my blackberry and when it reloaded it froze on my homescreen, I then brought it in to be fixed and it worked until it needed rebooted 6 hours later then it done the exact same thing, I sent it back in and it was fixed again, but the man said he didnt hold out much hope for it as there was too many apps?????????? but every time i got the phone back there was no apps on it. Can anyone help im too scared too reboot my phone now

have you tried a master reset?? 2 reason to look at for almost all problems. either it's the software issue which will be resolved by doing a master reset. if master reset will not work, actual parts of the handset needs to be replaced or repair. try to re flash your software as well

Word documents located in a sparse bundle will not open after update to Lion

I have several files of Word documents created by Office for Mac 2008. These files are located in two different sparse bundles for security. One sparse bundle is the original. The second sparse bundle is a larger maximum size that I copied the original Word documents into. My plan was to delete the original after I confirmed that the second larger one worked. After updating to Lion, I also uninstalled Office for Mac 2008, and installed Office for Mac 2011. Now when I try to open these Word documents, I get a message saying that Word cannot not open these documents because they may be in use or may have unacceptable symbols in the file name. If I control click on the documents, I can see the document in Preview but still cannot open in Word. In addition, I am able to open Word documents that are on my desktop. I tried moving my folders out of the sparse bundles by copying them to the desktop but this did not work either.
Help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

i created the app with version 1.0.0
uploaded it to my server on the net.
hit the web address from my phone, downloaded and installed
then changed the version number to 1.0.1
uploaded this apk
downloaded and installed to phone
app would then open for sec then close
only fixable by clearing application cache.
I can't believe the answer to this problem is not available by googling it.
has no one else encountered this?

How do I add my new 5th Gen Pod to my old mini pod i tunes?

Can anyone help? Bit scared to even attempt to connect my new 5th generation i pod to my pc as I have been happily using itunes with my ipod mini for over a year with no problem - how do I do it?
Do I need to load software that came in the box or simple attach the pod up with my computer and it will do it automatically?

The video requires at Itunes 6.0 or higher while the mini only requires 4.7 Go to help>about itunes in itunes to see you version #. IF it needs updating i would get the latest itunes online http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and the Ipod updater http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ than just hook you your ipod.

Unable to unzip files , unable to move apps into the app foldercant update

I cannot unzip files. Also if i try to install a new app by dragging it to the applications folder it says "that files already exists".
also if i try to update with software update it gives an error. i tried running verify disk permissions and repair disk permissions but this did nothing please help i am scared cuz my last time machine was along time ago.

A few clarification questions first.
What exactly does the dialog say when you try to drag a new app to the applications folder? Is it something like, "an older version of this already exists in this location, do you want to replace it with the version you are moving?"
And, what application are you attempting to use to unzip files?

App will not open after update from market.

I have an android app that when I publish an update and the user downloads the update the app will not open. It opens for a second and then closes.
This happens even if I do not change anything in the update.
The only thing I can find is that after downloading the update I clear the cache and it works fine. My question is does anyone know why this might happen. Also is there a way to clear the cache at time of update.

Will apple fix your computer for free if you have guarantee

I was walking with my macbook open when suddeny i fainted, my macbook fell off my hands and i was unconcious so i idid not see it fall or where it hit, when i noticed it fell i paniced the system worked perfectly so i was okay. Later that day i was checking it to make sure and the bottom right corner is bended a little and seems broken with a bit missing, the black thing connecting the screen with the bottom is popping out and when i flip my mac it wouldn't stay shut, it would open a bit. one of the screw drivers is falling off. My mac screen cracked and they fixed it for free already one time, would apple fix it again for free. I am really worried because now my macbook will not close completly and im scared that the screen will start getting lose. Is there any way possible to fix this after i woke up from fainting i saw my computer closed and flip i think it fell on it's side. would apple care for this, it has less than 1 year of use so i have guarantee but i think it is only for system issues. Please help im really scared, If they won't fix it for free how much do you think it would cost to fix it Thank you

Unresponsive Script message in Firefox

I keep getting this pop-up warning box "Unresponsive script: chrome://ytoolbar/content/utils.js:60" when ever I open any page on Firefox. The page will not load until I press "stop script". This is really slowing things down on the internet. I tried the Firefox site, but didn't find anything for Macs. I could go back to using Safari, but don't like it as well and all my bookmarks are in Firefox.

I did take everyone advice and carefully checked my add-ons and extensions especially Google ones, and Guess what? One of them actually warned that it was not compatible with the latest FF I had just downloaded.

Nike+ Milestones: where/how do I receive the ribbon?

On my second last run Lance Armstrong cheerfully informed that I've achieved a milestone, 250 miles. Cool, another ribbon, I thought. But when I uploaded the run there was no ribbon in the milestone spot. Is there another place I'm to get the ribbon from and then "pin" it into place?
This is so minor a problem that it's almost not worth the post. Nike+iPod is about the most delightful bit of technology I've ever owned and has worked perfectly without flaw until now. I've calibrated only once and marvel at it's accuracy (I often test it on a track by running a half K).
Any thoughts, or am I obsessing?

Quite possibly that would happen. There's no way to bypass it. I don't know about your carrier but Verizon, my carrier only charges .05/message to receive messages while roaming abroad.

okay lets jsut say that as i was updating my ipod i disconected it and what happens it jsut started flashing the apple on and off and there is a little click noise that is really quiet but i want to know what i can do i plugged it into my computer and nothing happens is there hope for my 60Gb or am i totaly screwed. please help this is scaring me alot.
