Help, I'm stuck in Freehand, and can't get out!

I have created a masterpiece :-) brochure cover, with a logo
over a graphic, with shadow, and gradient fills. It's not a complex
file, and my overseas client wants it for use with Illustrator.
However, I can't find a way to get it out and back in to Freehand,
let alone Illustrator.
I have converted my text to paths. But the main logo
disappears altogether (no, it's not linked). The shadow that sits
on top of an alpha channel area causes that block area to shift
several pixels.
Is Freehand able to export effects properly? What is the best
file format for sharing files with Illustrator?
Can I crossgrade to Illustrator?

Unfortunately raster effects do not work properly in high
resolution output due to for example color shift and misalignement.
Best way is to export as eps or ai and recreate the effects
in Illustrator. In Illustrator the effects DO work. Illustrator
also opens pdf files but FreeHand cannot produce quality pdf files.
Getting files back to FreeHand is not easy. Saving as version
3 might work. FH cannot open most of the eps file formats.

Stuck in Bootcamp Windows install and can't get out

late 2009 iMac with Mavericks with homemade fusion drive with super drive removed.
Was working fine until i tried to use bootcamp to install Windows 7. Now I'm stuck in the Windows partition, windows won't install and can't get out of the loop. Machine boots white screen with no apple logo and chimes. Eventually has black screen with No bootabe device -- insert boot disk and press any key. I have a USB drive. I've tried everything. Doesn't seem to be recognizing bluetooth keyboard. No sort of button combination on startup works. Tried holding X, command-alt PR, shift, command-R, option. Tried everything. Light doesn't come on on keyboard in startup which means it's probably not recognized. Tried disconnecting internal drives and booting from USB. Tried booting from Time Machine USB drive. Nothings works. Think a USB keyboard would solves this?

I have gotten in this loop. When doing this kind of thing, a usb keyboard would be good to have around, and that is probably the problem, because when I would boot, the first time set the windows partition to the default drive. Hold the key combo and boot into OSX, and go into Settings/Startup Disk/ and change it to The osx hd.

Help - I am stuck in tge SL installer and can't get out

After a perfect install on an iMac, I tried to install on a MacBook over Tiger. The installer said there wasn't enough RAM (me bad) and I can't get out. It asked if I want to restore from TM backup - which I don't have. What can I do?

Try booting from the SL install disk and run Disk Utility.
Shut down the Mac and restart while holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
*When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.*
*Select your start up disk and click Restart*
Check available disk space.
Control or right click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop. Click "Get Info". Under the General tab you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is at least 10% available disk space, 15% is better.*

You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.

With what apps? Not all apps require video output.

I tried to update to mavericks which made my MacBook unworkable. I reformatted with my startup disc and now have reloaded my computer from a backup on time capsule. I keep getting a panic screen on start up and can't get out of this perpetual loop?

Linc Davis is a very smart guy on here, and his recommendation in that thread is to reinstall the OS. I'd suggest a backup first.

DVD Stuck In Drive And Can't Get Passed The Gray Page.

The disk is stuck in my 3 and 1/2 month old new mac book pro mid 2010. And it is also stuck on the gray start up page. The wheel under the apple will spin for awhile and then I get a message to turn the power off and restart. I have tried several times but the same thing keeps happening. Have tried recommend ways to eject the disk. Does not help. Is there anything else I can do ?

If you have tried all the commonly recommended ways of extracting the disc, take the machine in for service under your warranty, and be sure to have it noted that there's a disc in the drive that you need back (so it won't get separated from the machine after it's removed).

Osx crashed, then restarted in darwin and can't get out!

my b/w g3 with tiger has restarted in darwin after it crashed, and i can't get it to restart back into osx. i can log in when it's in darwin mode, but whenever i try to go to a directory it says i don't have permissions (even though i'm the admin and only user profile). i was also able to boot off of a cd, but now able to restart in osx from the startup disc menu. any ideas?

Hi Jesse - try a start holding down the shift key on the chime. It should boot into Safe mode, but then again .....
It may take some time b/c it does fsck.

I am locked up in iBooks, how do I get out.

Force quit the app by holding down on the sleep button until the slider appears. Let go of the sleep button and hold down on the home button until the app quits.
Or reset by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider, let go of the buttons and the iPad should restart.

I'm stuck in my settings app and can't get out, please help!

It's an iphone 4. It told me to make some more room and in storage and I did but not it won't let me out of the app! I can move around in it but it won't let me get to the home screen or lock it. I've tried holding down the lock button but it doesn't work. I'm freaking out badly, please someone help me!!!

Hold down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for 10-15 seconds or until the screen goes dark. Then, press and hold the power button to power it back up.
This resets the phone and it should work as expected once it boots back up

HELP! I lost my library and can't get it back

I really hope I haven't done it this time! My hard drive went bad, so I had to reload my ipod and itunes. When I reloaded itunes, I thought I had to sign up for my podcast updates all over again, so I did. When I hooked up my ipod to the computer, it brought up the music it had on it and a little window came up and said that there was another library connected to this ipod and did I want to change the link. The way it was worded was sort of confusing and I cliked yes -Ahhrghh! Anyhow, when I did, everything disappeared except for the one podcast I had just downloaded, a Beethoven song, and some jazz song-have no idea where those two came from. When I looked on my computer, the only itunes library file I could find had those items in it- not my original library. PLEASE help!

Pressing "Yes" when iTunes brings up the dialogue window asking whether you want to replace the songs on your iPod with the songs in this iTunes unfortunately does exactly what it says. If you linked to an iTunes with only a few or completely different songs it will have erased your original iPod song list. There are some data recovery programs on the market. I've no personal experience of them so I can't say how effective they are, here's an example: iPod Data Recovery</a
None of the recovery programs are particularly cheap so you have to decide if in your particular circumstances it's worth it to get your songs back. It may be if you have a lot of purchased tracks which you will have to pay to download again. If they came primarily from your CDs then it's most likely not as you can re-rip them.

HELP! Brand New to IPAD and can't get wifi

I was so excited to get my IPAD today! However, it will not let me join my very own network. I select my network, enter my password, tap join and it says that I have failed to join. HELP! Did I miss a step? Am I not doing something right? Thanks!

Start with a couple of simple things. Reboot your router - just unplug it for about 20 seconds and then plug it back in. Then on your iPad got to Settings, then tap WiFi, then tap your network's name and tap the blue arrow, then tap Forget this Network. Restart your iPad, go to Settings again, tap WiFi and see if your iPad has found your network. If so, enter your password and see if you can connect.
