Help-I need Mail Help-

I am running OS X 10.8.2 and my mail crashing before it opens with this message:
I've done every trick I know. Been to Libaray, Preferences, and deleted com.apple.mail.plist as per another discussion thread- and still it crashes.

Try this:
Download the OS X 10.8.2 Combo Update from Apple's website (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1581) onto your hard disk.
Double-click the dmg file that you downloaded (OSXUpdCombo10.8.2.dmg) and run the updater (OSXUpdCombo10.8.2.pkg). Yes, "update" to OS X 10.8.2 although you have already OS X 10.8.2 installed. Restart.
Run Software Update and update whatever gets offered. Restart.
Run Software Update again and check whether everything is up to date. Update if necessary and repeat this until there is nothing to update anymore.
Restart and try to open Mail. Report whether it is possible now.

Need Mail help please

Using Mail. MacBook Pro. Hotmail is my POP.
Attached PDF file of 37mb. I try to send the email, and I get: "Cannot send message using the server Hotmail. Message exceeds 49.1 mb limit." It's only 37 mb! The email has no text whatsoever. Just the attachment. I need to send this! Help! Thanks.

Tried it. Hotmail says you can't attach anything more than 25mb. That may be the problem right there. Mac Mail thinks Hotmail can handle more than it actually can?
Anyway, then Hotmail said I can send it with what seems to basically be their version of Google Drive. Bleh.

mac mail wants £67 (thats like a million bucks) per year for a mac address.. I'm poor Hotmail is free...
so I'm gonna keep my hotmail a/c ... Leopard reckons it has all plug ins for on line mail servers... but not hotmail (the largest one!! go figure ) ... so how do i find my hot mail addy ip's that its asking for???

Really Need Mail Help

Good Morning All,
I have seen this topic on help a few times, but with no workable answer, so would really appreciate it if someone could let me know if there is indeed a fix.
The problem is non contacts showing up in the email address when you begin to type on the ipad. It appears to save all addresses and not just contacts.
Can someone with more knowledge than me help?

If you sync with the Mac computer Mail program they is an option in the Window tab to display and delete previous recipients. If you delete the ones you do not want and sync (you may have to say replace what is on the iPad with what is on the computer) that may solve your problem.

HELP I need some help choosing the right laptop

Hello there. I am a student and I am looking to buy a Apple laptop. I have around 700GBP to spend, but I do not wish to spend all of that. As I do not use Macs that often I dont think I need the newer Macbooks or the Macbook Pros as I feel that it is a waste of power. My friend said the 12" Powerbook was the way to go. There are several different models out there and I was wondering if anyone could help me choose one. It will be used mostly for word processing and admin based work, but I would like to have enough power to be able to run some graphic based activities. I wont be using high level apps that much but it would be nice to know if the opportunity was there, then i I have sufficient power to be able to run them. My friend said an 867mhz G4 with upgraded hdd and ram would do the trick, but I have found out that the specs range all the way up to 1.5ghz. I like the look of the powerbook and I have heard they are more reliable than an ibook which is why I dont really want to choose one of those. Thanks for any help!

The biggest advantage of the 12PB is its portability, but you didn't include that in your specs.
The graphics are very good for the small screen. If you need more intense graphics you should consider a larger screen.
I use mine for mostly word processing and e-mail. I am also the IT guy in my small office and I manage networked PCs from my PB. I use an external monitor and screen spanning for extra work area. I thought long and hard before I bought my PB, as I had used PCs extensively all my life. The configuration that was recommended to you will work fine.

Help - I need security help

I have been subject to internet fraud and I am keen to find out how to secure my G4 .
I have had a look around on this site and have seen the Master Password which is to do with Filevault, I currently do not have a Master Password set up, I have found how to do this, but I don't really understand what it does, is this enough security?
I also have read about Firefox, how do I know if I have this?
please can someone explain in really simple terms ( I am not technically minded at all!) what I need to do to be a secure as possible.

Hi,
Firefox won't make you more secure it's just an alternative to Safari. You could encrypt your home folder (when the Master Password would be set) but frankly that really doesn't matter for Internet security. Here are some general tips:
Ensure that your Mac OS X Firewall is on. This prevents Internet connections from accessing your computer. On Panther it's on  menu > System Preferences... > Sharing > Firewall. Deselect all the options you don't use and enable stealth mode in the Advanced button.
Use different passwords for all your various accounts online, i.e. ebay account, AppleID, amazon account etc. You can store these securely in Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access so you don't have to remember them yourself.
Ensure that you are on a secure site (addresses start https:// and you see a padlock in the top right hand side of Safari) before you enter banking or credit card info.
Regularly check  menu > Software Update for security patches, although Panther (10.3) is rarely updated now because it is so robust.
Keep your personal details to yourself.
Don't respond to emails asking you for banking details. If you're unsure of any site log-in using a deliberately wrong username/password: if it allows you in, its a false site.
Don't download and install any software that you are not confident of the origins of. MacUpdate.com or versiontracker.com both list nearly every bit of Mac software - if it's not on there then take care.
Create a non-admin OS X user account for your day-to-day use, using OS X in the Admin account potentially allows malicious software more freedom.
Well that's a few for starters. Without any specific details could you allude to what specific issue you encountered so we can target advice.
If you share an Internet connection, share the Mac, have a wireless router/Airport Base Station, please do say as there are other things to consider.

I need help! I have cs5.5 and cs6 installed on my laptop but want to remove all adobe products from laptop. Problem, they cs5.5 or cs6 are not listed in programs and features for uninstall. Question? What is the best way to get Adobe off my computer in this situation? Do I just delete all the files? Help!

You don't say which operating system you're using, but both CS5.5 and CS6 use installation and uninstall routines. You cannot just delete the files.
If you can't find the programs in Control Panel in Windows or the Applications folder on a Mac, you can remove them using the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool.

The Help menu needs a help menu

How do you change the text size inside of the Flash (and
hopefully all of CS3) Help Menu? It's stuck on tiny, and the Text
Size command in IE does nothing, as does holding Control and using
the Mouse Scroll wheel.

Hi - I have the same problem - it's so small it's impossible
to read and there appears to be no way of enlarging it.
Funnily enough I had the same in the Photoshop CS3 help file,
and solved this by right-clicking on the text panel and choosing
the 'make text bigger' option. This option isn't available with
Flash help however, and has left me with a wealth of knowledge
which I am unable to access.
Has this been reported as a bug yet? It was fine up until a
few weeks ago, does anyone know what triggered it?

JRE means Java Runtime Enviornment and as the name itself suggests it provides the runtime enviornment for the JVM to execute.This runtime enviornment includes the classes necessary for any of the java programme to run.eg ClassLoaders, java.* classes ,Default Fonts, Policy files ,Certificates and other services like rmiregistry etc.Whenever a JVM is invoked the Runtime enviornment is first established and then the JVM interacts with the runtime enviornment for certain resources necessary for the JVM to execute.
While a JVM consist of the interpretor which executes the bytecodes in the java classfile and whenever any of the resource or class is been requested by the classfile ,it is then loaded with the help of the runtime enviornment.A JVM is a stack machine which executes the bytecodes while JRE is the thing which provides resources necessary to make it happen.Any programme complying the JVM Specification laid down by the sun can be called as an JVM as it is only a programme while JRE more than that.
Well JRE provides the minimal set of files necessary for ur programme to execute and must be present on the computer where u want to run any java application or applet.

In standard database terminology it is not possible to "connect" to a MS Access database at all. Thus one certainly can't do it remotely.
The ODBC (nothing to to with java) for MS Access requires OS file access to the MS Access database file.
So if you have box A and the database file is on box B the the java application must be running in a context (user) such that a mapped drive of some sort exists from A to B. And the ODBC definition must specify that file path.
