my ipod video is being such a pain in the *.
i hook it up to the computer, and the computer will recognize that the USB is hooked up.. but itunes doesn't pick it up what-so-ever. and the "do not disconnect" display freezes once it's hooked up to the computer. but it charges of course & still plays... but i cannot update my ipod. :(( i've tried reseting the ipod (holding the menu and select button) ergh. help! Oh! and when i disconnect it from the computer the do not disconnect sign is still there & doesn't turn off so i have to reset it again.... any idea what's wrong with it?
i'm updating my version of Itunes to see if that might be the case.. but i really don't know.

You may try updated the firmware on your iPod. Its pretty simple and takes only a few minutes. Go here to get the updater:

Also, I have found often times...deinstall itunes first. Restart the computer. Then download itunes fresh to fix all the problems. If this does not work...make sure that all of your windows updates and drivers are updated via the Windows Update area in internet explorer 6 or 7 beta. If all above does not work, call Apple!

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

I bought my iPod 30G when it first came out back in the day. With the protective case it looks like a Walkman, if you know what that is. The new ones are half the thickness of my old skool one. lol!
Anyway, years ago I accidently uploaded a virus in both my PC and laptop. Yeah, real *******. Well, the person who restored my computers couldn't save my music. I still have the iPod but my library on iTunes is gone. If I try to update my iPod in either computer it will erase every song I have on it and only upload the songs/album I'm trying to add. I'm told that this is something Apple did to prevent file sharing, blah, blah, blah...
Does anyone know a way around it? I keep buying CDs just not able to load them into my iPod thru iTunes.

There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. The first link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple Google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

NEED PRO. HELP!!! IPOD PAUSING!!!

I guess I will just explain this again and i wont make another post about this but i need HELP!!
My iPod will be playing music on hold, and you know how you do that to prevent the iPod from accidentally turning up the iPod? You iPod owners know that the clickwheel is VERY sensitive. Anyways, while its on hold, it will pause, and if you look at the ipod, it will display the little pause sign and lock sign signifying hold. Which means, at random times it will pauses on hold and i didnt do it....I need help! what kind of problem is this? What do I do? Who do i call? I need help, anykind!! lol....any type of help is greatly appreciated!!!
