Help! I need to download a trusted copy of Adobe Flash Player 11.6
I discovered after downloading the new flash player that it is not compatible with a program I use on a regular basis.
I am running Windows 7 and IE.

Assuming Allan's advice is not correct, and you do run the installer, I think I've heard of that problem and it involves removing the old Flash plug-ins, then install the new version. I don't use it so I don't know what they are called, but will be the /Library/Internet Plug-ins folder.
You can go here and enable HTML5 in YouTube so you don't have to use Flash: http://www.youtube.com/html5
Most(?) of the content is HTML5, but you may run into videos where you still need Flash. -
Why won't firefox crashes when I try to download the latest version of adobe flash player ?

I was a little confused because it was totally different from what the instructions said

so I decided to click the "manual" button and a download page to download a file named "Gp" popped. Seeing that I just clicked cancel then suddenly my computer froze. I tried going to the adobe download page again and it happens all over again. Please Help Me :(No bug, My late 2012 Mini with 10.9.1and Flash Player 12 works fine.

when i click on a video say on Facebook i am asked to download the latest version of adobe flash player which i have but it still keeps asking me any ideas ?
You are downloading the Flash installer, which I think itself downloads another installer, which may again download something else that has to run. Adobe's installer is one of the worst pieces of software on the PLANET.
That said, the problem is that you are not actually running the installer and letting it update Flash. Doing so will force you to quit Safari in the process.
Go look for whatever Adobe downloaded to your Downloads folder and run it. -
Every time I try to download the new version of Adobe Flash Player it saves as a .txt file and I do not know how to get it to save in the correct format.

Answers in this forum have shown different things have worked for different people.
For some clearing YouTube cookies and the cache solved the problem. For details of how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Deleting+cookies and https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+clear+the+cache
Others had to go a step further after deleting YouTube cookies and block YouTube from saving cookies. In the Tools menu select Options to open the Options window. Go to the Privacy panel and make sure it is set to "Use custom setting for history". Click the Exceptions button, type in http://www.youtube.com and click on Block
Another option is to disable hardware acceleration for Flash. To do that right-click on a Flash video, select Settings, go to the first tab of the settings for the option to enable/disable hardware acceleration for Flash. I have here a MacBook Pro OS X version 10.9.5. I cannot play videos through Facebook. It says I must download and and install the latest version of my Adobe Flash player. I already downloaded and installed the latest version however, it still says the same thing whenever i play videos in Facebook. On the other hand, i can play videos in other sites such as youtube and other online movie streaming. Can anyone please help me with this?

It could be a coincidence but when I upgraded to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262 I can't seem to play any games on Yahoo Messenger with my friends. I know when I updated for some reason I had to try 3 times before it took it. It shows it's updated. I'm wondering if I have to un-install and re-install it. Also, I never use Internet Explorer 8 but when I went in there to check I found a plug in check link there and it showed over there that Adobe Flash Player needed updating but it was an older version and not the one Foxfire had me update too. Now I'm really confused if this is causing a problem. I have never had to check Internet Explorer for plug ins before. Have always just updated in Foxfire since that's what I use. The Adobe Flash Player seems to play videos okay so not really sure if that's the issue or not. My Java plug-ins have been fine and have been updated awhile ago, so I know it's not that. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Adobe has killed flash on mobile devices.
If it is a web site requiring flash, look at iswifter in the app store.
Otherwise, download on a computer and transfer the books over.
If it requires adobe's drm for the downloaded textbook -you will need something like blue fire reader. -
