Help! I suddenly can't open iTunes.

When I click on the iTunes logo in my dock, I get the message "The application iTunes quit unexpectedly.
Mac OS X and other applications are not affected.
Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more details or to send a report to Apple."
There are three buttons: Close, Report..., and Reopen. Reopen just gives the same result.
What did I do, and how can I fix it?
Thanks so much!
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Never mind. I called Apple Tech Support, and the guy there had me do an archive and install. It worked. Yay!

  • Help! I can't open Itunes nor read my music! I had an accident!

I accidentally displaced my music files from from Itunes Library to the other hard drive disk called DATA while reading Itunes at the same time. Suddenly, all my music was locked and I couldn't listen to it. I put the files back in their original place, but everything was messy. As a result, I can no longer open Itunes nor can I read my music. All I get is : "The file Itunes library.itl is locked, it is on a locked disk or you don't have any authorization for this file". What can I do? Please help me! I can't live without my music!
I must read my music. I tried upgrading the latest version of Itunes but it still doesn't work! I need quick solutions, my Ipod has to be loaded very soon! Thanks

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • TS1717 I can't open Itunes, I have an error that says says MSVCR80.dll is not found. I have tried twice to uninstall and reinstall but keep getting the same error message. Can anyone help?

I can't open ITunes, I have an error message that says MSVCR80.dll is not found. Is anyone able to help solve this issue for me. I have tried to unistall and reinstall ITunes twice but continue to get the same error message.

A msi file is short for microsoft installer.  It normally is for installation, removal, and maintenance for a program. So iTunes.msi would be used for the updating of the program.  For some reason it isnt finding this so we can't update, install, or remove it.
From what I have seen windows installer cleanup utility solved related problems before.
I found this forum about removing and installing a new iTunes.  It was about someone who was trying to isntall iTunes, and was looking for msi file and asked for help.   Using this should allow you to be able to install iTunes.  It won't give you the msi file but will allow you to isntall iTunes over again.
    This was what was said.
Another option in case you can't get an msi. (Or even if you can ... the msi's mentioned in the messages may be damaged rather than missing.)
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Try removing iTunes, Apple Application Support, and the related Apple software using Control Panel. For a walkthough on the process, check out this Apple document -> Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Then try downloading and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes from here -> Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now

  • I tried to download the latest itunes update, but received an error and now can't open itunes at all. Help?

i tried to download the latest itunes update, but received an error and now can't open itunes at all. Help?

    Hello bajura007,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update.  I recommend following the steps below:
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
When you get to the step to uninstall iTunes, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.
