Help! I synced my iPhone and it deleted all my contacts!

I have iPhone 4 and Office 2010. All my contacts were saved in Outlook 2010. I synced my iPhone on Monday and when it was done, I noticed it had deleted all of my 400+ contacts, both in the iPhone and in Outlook, and replaced them with just three contacts I had added over the weekend. How can this happen and how can I get the contacts back? Someone please help!

If you did not sync after your contacts were deleted, your backup contains your contacts and events. A backup is made every time you sync, but each time you sync, the old backup is replaced with the new one.

If your contacts are still on your computer, use the option to replace the contact info on the phone during the next sync. You can find these settings in the info pane, advanced section when you connect your phone.

All sorted! dont suppose you know how to fix another problem I have??? for weeks now, since updating to ios5 I think, for some reason every time I have tried to log onto app store it says CANNOT CONNECT TO ITUNES STORE. It's nothing to do with my computer, and I've been to the Geniius bar but they couldnt help and nothing I seem to do lets me update my Apps and even worse, I cant even buy any more. Any suggestions?

Try to restore from a back-up. But by now, I'm sure you have them all back.

Have you tried the usual cures such as resetting your phone or backing it up then restoring from the backup?

You should have been syncing your contacts to your computer regularly. Just sync them back ot the iphone from your computer.

What do you mean " back up my photos or Apps"?
The photo sync is one way - computer to ipad.
You can transfer itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

The iPhone does not store ANY information on the SIM card. If they were truly on the SIM, re-import them from the SIM.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Import SIM Contacts.

Providing you have only deleted the account from your mobile device, you should be able to simply add it back and recover your contacts etc again.

Why don't you just restore the to your pc from your most recent backup? You'll get the warning about erasing the media on the phone, but since you'll have all of your media and apps restored from backup, you shouldn't have much of a problem.

My iphone 4 version 5.0.1 has just deleted all my contacts without any explanation. Suddently my girlfriend called and I could only see her number, not her name.
I went to contacts and there was nobody in there!!! Even more, there are also no contacts on my ipad mini!!!! That's weird. What's happening?
I have gone to www.icloud.com and although there are some contacts, contacts are not synced with the latest updates, I also don't know why.
The most important thing in a phone are its contacts! I thought that apple was providing a complete backup solution, but I am afraid it is not reliable.
What can I do? What can Apple offer to me?
Is there a way of restoring an icloud copy directly from the iphone? I have thought on restoring and updating to ios7 and ask for icloud to put my backup copy of today in the morning, but it is possible that icloud does another copy and rewrites the 7am working copy. I have disconnected wifi in order to avoid a copy on icloud without contacts.

I have the exact same problem and judging by the other posts we are not alone. The one thing that seems to be lacking is any official word or support from Apple - a "bury the head in teh sand" strategy appears to be the chosen response from one of the worlds biggest brands.
I took it to my Apple store and they were about as much use as chocolate over gloves and told me "this can happen sometimes"???? Seriously, this from an Apple Genius!!??!?!?
I have not had any joy with iCloud back up so I'm afraid I cant offer any help.
I will be going to Twitter and Facebook to try to get some action from Apple so I suggest we all do the same and create a noise that Apple cannot ignore....

It sounds like she deleted them all from your icloud account. If you have an iTunes backup, try this to possible recover your deleted contacts. http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4108
If that doesn't work, you might be stuck as Apple doesn't usually have a backup plan for intentional user deletion. You can try to call Apple though and see if there is anything else they can do to try and recover that deleted info for you.

I downloaded an update for my iphone, I thought I backed up my phone, but I guess I may have done it wrong because when the download was complete, all my apps, music and ALL MY CONTACTS WERE GONE!! The iphone stores nothing at all to the SIM. There were never any contacts on your SIM.
The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer regularly. You should have been sync the contacts to your computer (Outlook/Address Book) from the very beginning. If you have failed to do this, then they are very likely gone.

It looks like you didn't do a backup of of the device just before upgrading the iOS. Have you ever make an icloud backup or one through iTunes? If so, reset the device and restore from the backup. If you currently have photos on the device, be sure to first sync them to a computer, otherwise a restore will very likely not return the photos, even though it should.
