Help! I transferred my number to MagicJack and I want it back!
OMG! I have had nothing but problems. Everything I have is new - even my cordless landline phone and all wires. I am so frustrated I just want to go back to Verizon! I live way out in the sticks so I only have this one landline and no cell phone as they don't work where I live. I have to walk out to the road to use one. Anyway, My Trac phone is not activated.
So, Apparently I still have an account with Verizon and they are going to charge me for the next month BUT...I have no dial tone when I plug back into my jack and the site told me they couldn't bring up 'test info' on my account to see where the problem lies. I think it's because I've transferred my number.
How do I get my number transferred back to Verizon? Can I do it on the internet? Otherwise I will have to spend time on someone else's phone calling Verizon to ask what do I do now?
Anyone else had this problem and how do I fix it!

Some people have told me they love magic jack and some people hate it. I would not drop my main phone line for it though as the computer has to be on all the time to make and receive calls I believe but it's good for a second phone line. You could have just gotten a new number from magic jack and not ported your main home number I believe as that's what friends have done and use it for a second line for business. Hey Hallmarie, leave it turned off, do not attempt to charge or use. Place it in a sealed back of uncooked rice for at least 7 days, change the rice ever couple of days and hope for the best. After it has dried attempt to turn your iPod on. You may need to charge for 30 minutes, keep a close eye on it during this charge, if you hear noises, crackling, popping or hissing, or something smells like burning rubber or plastic, or you see smoke or it get very hot, unplug your iPod ASAP! and do not use; all signs your fried it. You may need to Reset or Restore or use DFU recovery mode to get it work, and when your all done this iPod may never work again. But for a couple of bucks worth of rice... worth a try. If you do get it to work the first thing you want to do is make a full set of backups, no telling how long it will work. Hope this helps, but be prepared to buy an out of warranty replacement. I have Lion on my laptop and I want to back up my calendar TO my iphone. Not the reverse. iCloud only goes from iphone to iCloud to mac not the other way. Also, why doesn't "sync" mean update most recent changes across all devices? I thought that was the point of iCloud. Any suggestions since iCloud doesn't seem to work?
It's a work computer so I wanted to save them to my iTunes so I can access from another computer. Should I go to a home computer and just Import for best results? If so how do I do this? Also, why would I be synched with another library and how do I find out what this is? Very new/green user here

I"m guessing you're used to having iChat in the Dock. It should still be in the Applications folder. either drag it to the dock or create an alias and drag that to the dock (I think that means some form of right or left clicking on the app, and make alias should come up). If not, then I dunno

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7or later : Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101. -

I disabled the fax function on hp 8600 and now want it back.
I went to fax something and the message says fax disabled see administrator. I have reinstalled the printer using the CD and the message still comes up. I cannot even print a test page because all features having to do with the fax says it is disabled.

I noticed your post about the issues you are having with your Officejet 8600 printer, and I wanted to write you back with a suggestion of mine.
I would suggest restoring the printer back to factory defaults, which will yes indeed delete the majority of information you have programmed, such as fax contacts and a network connection, if you have the printer on a network. However, this may help the printer get out of the state it's in, and allow you to make changes again, such as run the fax setup and print test pages.
On the printer, select Setup, Tools, Restore Factory Defaults, Yes, Restart the printer afterwards.

My iphone has a smashed screen and my laptop which it was connected to has died under warrantee and been replaced. I am going to replace my iphone but want to back it up first. Unfortunately the screen wont work and there is a password on it meaning I cant access it from my itunes account on the new laptop. How can I disable the password from itunes and back up the phone. It wont turn off or activate any sliders.
You can't disable the password. If you could, what would be the point of having one?

I have 30 or so folders in my main bookmarks directory, and I need to export just one of them to another computer. I've tried various ways, but the entire bookmark file ends up in the export.l
Ok, found a way that works, but it's kinda inelegant. Remember, my task was how to export one of 18 favorites directories:
1) Open the Favorites Library (see above for methods).
2) Click on the "Import and Backup" menu item, select "Backup..." and follow instructions to create a backup file.
3) Back in the Favorites Library, in the left pane click on "Bookmarks Menu". You should see all of your bookmarks and bookmark folders in the right pane.
4) Click on one of them then do Ctrl-a to select all of them.
5) Holding the Ctrl key down de-select the folder(s) you wish to export.
6) With all the unwanted folders and bookmarks selected, hit the delete key.
7) Now do an export. It will contain only the folders/bookmarks you did not delete.
8) Once you verify the exported file contains what you want, go back to the Favorites Library, click on the "Import and Backup" menu, select "Restore...", navigate to your backup file and restore your Favorites.
Took longer to type the above steps than it actually takes to do it...
