Help, I tried to do the new 8.1 update and it says I'm now in recovery mode.

Ever since I did the latest update the 8.02 or whatever every app keeps freezing so I decided to do the 8.1 today. I tried that and it put my phone into recovery mode. I said to plug into Itunes, I did and it's saying that I should do a factory restore. I don't want to lose all my media:( . I always back up my photos and was about to do this with this weekends photos but my apps were freezing again.....Any way around this so I don't lose my photos?????Help

Do you not have an iCloud or iTunes backup of your device?
You should always update any device (phone, computer, etc...) before updating.
It is never a good idea to keep the only copy of your photos/videos on your mobile device.
You should be transferring them to your computer then backing them up.
Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC

It probably means you don't have enough available storage on your phone. It takes space to store the download - THEN unpack it. Best method is to use a computer with iTunes (This allows you to back up on your computer as well).
PLEASE: Do not purchase iCloud storage space - this will not give you more room for the iOS 7.1 installation.

Tried to load the new vesion of iTunes and I couldn't do it. I had to do a restore on my Windows 7, 64 bit computer in order to get iTunes sort of working again. Now it crashes everytime I try to open the program. Any ideas anybody? Thanks.

When you uninstall, the items you uninstall and the order in which you do so particularly important:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.

Given that you are very low in memory on your iPhone, it would be much easier to connect your phone to your computer and download iOS 8.1 via iTunes. Memory won't be an issue this way.

I had this, and after a large number of fruitless attempts, I had to reload Windows, which solved it. This was of course a real pain, but I had to do it since updating iTunes was necessary in order to get the new iOS version. But before doing such a drastic thing, you could try to restore Windows to a previous point in time by picking a restore point. This of course presumes that you really have some issues with your Windows (which I had) and that you can make a decent guess on when the system was ok (which I couldn't), i.e that you can decide a good date to restore to.

The app you are trying to download my be a zipped file and more space than 1.3GB. go to settings/general/usage and delete what you no longer want to make more space
