Help - I've accidentally turned on some kind of screen zooming

My Mighty Mouse button is stuck from some dirt, so I had it upside down running the button around on the mousepad to try to free it up. Somehow I've activated some kind of zoom thing where the screen is blown up to giant size and slides around with the mouse cursor.
My first thought was something in Universal Access System Prefs, but I don't see anything. I don't know how to turn it off, because I don't know what it is - and I'm getting seasick.

  • X1 info/dashboard/home/some kind of screen?

Over the weekend a 3 year old neice of my wife's got a hold of our Xfinity DVR remote.  After she left, I turned the TV on and there was some kind of an info screen on display, that I can not for the life of me identify or reproduce.  The screen looked similar to a Windows 8 'tiled' display.  Background/wallpaper was a bright flowery image, not the typical black Xfinity menu/guide type screen, with a scrolling information box in the lower left corner of the screen.  The box contained weather information, and I think traffic information.  Audio was from the TV channel that was tuned in, which I believe to be completely unrelated to the information/dashboard/home/whatever screen.  Once I got back to regular TV mode, I have been unable to figure out what had been turned on.  I've looked at the available apps, hit just about every combination of buttons on the remote... and have been unable to reproduce whatever mode our young relative did, completely by accident. The remote for the TV itself wasn't accessible... so whatever got turned on was done via the Xfinity/Comcast remote. Does anybody have any idea what got turned on, activated, whatever?

  • How can I turn off the new "full screen zoom"?

Man, horror of horrors: Apple seems to have suddenly (with 10.8.2?) activated a terrible "full screen zoom" feature which makes a window zoom to maximum size if I happen to move the window along the top of the screen. Several times per hour I accidentally make my windows full screen, even tiny graphics I happen to be working with in Photoshop, and it's one of the worst UI changes Apple has rolled out since they tried to force all function keys to only work as volume, brightness etc.
So, does anyone know a way to get the "force window to jump to full screen" option to go away?

I'm not aware of the behavior you're describing. I've never seen it, and just tested it for myself. I cannot get windows to zoom to full screen just from moving them to or along the top of the screen. Is this only happening in Photoshop? If so, it may be a Photoshop issue. If not, have you installed any kind of third-party software that might be doing that? Try rebooting in safe mode and see if the problem persists then. If it doesn't, but comes back when you reboot normally, the problem is caused by some third-party software you have installed.

HELP! My ipad screen is showing some kind of "snowy-white noise TV effect" it looks kind of "grainy". This happened when i was reading a pdf an zooming in for a better view, now this "snowy, grainy" screen is also showing up in the home screen...This ipad is new, about 2 weeks with no drops or accidents whatsoever... I'm thinking of replacing it... responses greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.
but it is possible youhave a hardware defect and will need to return it.

  • Woke up and my phone was completely dead. Won't turn on, no charging, nothing at all.  Thought maybe some kind of water damage because it was on my windowsill, but neither of the water detectors have turned a color.  Help?

No that’s probably what I’ll do. I'm thinking the guys at the apple store can only do basic technical support since most of them are sales people that don't know how to physically repair phones. It seems kinda silly that, as fine as a product the iPhone is, when something like this happens they just tell you to replace the entire device without doing any proper diagnostic. If it was any other phone you could simply take it to a cell phone repair shop and they'll usually fix it. It’s almost as though Apple assumes their products will never fail so that when they do, the only solution is to replace the entire device at a cost higher then it would be if it was just a simple fix. So hopefully the local cell repair shop can do something instead of having to replace the entire phone. I'll accept the fact if I have to replace it after taking it to a few places and having some real technicians look at it, instead of a 5 minute trial and error diagnostic done by a sales associate at the apple store being quick to tell me that the phone is useless and has to be replace for several hundreds of dollars.

  • When I try to open iPhoto it begins the process and then stops. It brings up a message that iPhoto has quit unexpectedly. Efforts to reopen it bring the same result. My timemachine has been accidentally turned off. I have 20,000 photos on iPhoto. Help!

First, copy your iPhoto Library to an external so that you have a backup.
Second, see if you can create a new Library and have it open. To do this, open iPhoto while holding down the Option key. It will ask which Library to use, or allow you to create a new Library. Save the new library with a different name from the old one.
If that does open with a new library, the old library is corrupt, but all the files are still OK.
If it is a corrupt Library, iPhoto Library Manager can repair some corruption, or transfer the Library over to a new one.

photos not getting added up to my photostream. It's showing some kinda registry error in my windows. Plz help!!

    Hi Melissa_C!
I have an article for you that may help shed light on this circumstance:
    iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4486
How long are My Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud?
The photos you upload to My Photo Stream are stored in iCloud for 30 days to give your devices plenty of time to connect and download them.
How many photos are stored in My Photo Stream on my devices and computers?
iCloud pushes all your photos to the My Photo Stream album on your devices and computers, and manages them efficiently, so you don’t run out of storage space.
Your iOS devices keep a rolling collection of your last 1000 photos in the My Photo Stream album. From there, you can browse your recent photos or move the ones you like to your Camera Roll or another album to keep them on your device forever.
Because your Mac and PC have more storage than your iOS devices, you can choose to have all of your My Photo Stream photos automatically downloaded. In iPhoto or Aperture preferences on your Mac, select Photos (or Photo Stream) > My Photo Stream > Automatic Import. All of your photo stream photos will be imported into your Events, Projects, Photos, Faces, and Places folders in iPhoto or Aperture. On your PC with My Photo Stream enabled in the Control Panel, all of your photos will be imported into C:\\Users\<user name>\Pictures\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream. For iCloud Control Panel 2.0 to 2.1.2 users, the path isC:\\Users\<user name>\Pictures\Photo Stream\My Photo Stream .
Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!

HI. When I plug in my charger and use my macbook, I feel some kind of roughness on the body. It feels like some current flowing around it. Need help please.

My 2006 MacBook Pro and my 2011 MacBook Air both do it.  It happens because the earth ground stops at the power brick and is not carried through to the case of the machine.  It is not dangerous or the machine would not have been UL approved.
Since I operate on battery 99.9999% of the time it doesn't bother me at all.

  • My MBpro has been running some kind of app in the background upon turning on, heating up for no cause. Is this normal since Snow Lepard? It's been updated and I also have anti-virus software too.

    you're welcome....
also check activity monitor - all processes - see what's using up most of your cpu resources under % CPU....
highlight anything that's really high and hit quit process......anything over 10% is considered high - unless it's your browser....
    good luck...

  • Droid X2 in some kind of program mode? HELP!!!!

My son came home with his Droid X2 in some kind of wierd program mode. Will not boot, just keeps restarting over and over withthis display:
    Bootloader
    30.04
    Battery OK
    Ok to Program
    Connect USB
    Data Cable
connect the cable and it changes to
    Bootloader
    30.04
    Battery OK
    Ok to Program
    Transfer Mode
    USB
and thats it, never ever get past it, no matter what! HELP!! This is his phone for emergencies only, and he has jsut started to drive by himself.

Try removing the battery. With the battery removed, press and hold the Power button for 5 secs. Reinsert battery and power it up .... if that doesn't work, the phone may be "bricked" (corrupted) and time to take to a Verizon store and have the technicians re-flash it ...  If he has pics/video/music/data on the external card that he wants to save, remove the card BEFORE any attempts to reset the phone by the Verizon store.
edit:  PS - are you sure the battery didn't get drained?  Plug it into the wall outlet using the supplied charger - make sure it is charged all the way and not out of juice.
and here is a link to the Factory reset procedure if you wish to try it without going to the Verizon store
