In any case I would suggest to get an audio interface which is *Core Audio* compatible. This means that you just need to plug it in and it will work with OS X’s integrated driver. I once had an M-Audio interface which needed its own driver and it had latency problems because of them. I am currently using the EDIROL FA-66 with 10.6.3 on my MacBook Pro. Where Can I download another copy of Logic Pro 9 for reinstallation?

Where can I download a copy of Logic Pro 9 so that I can reinstall it. I'm having so many problems with Logic I can not use it since I loaded Maverick. I tried to go to the App Store and then to Purchases and download it from there, but the message I got back was: "This Product is not available in US store."
Is there something that I am doing wrong?

You must sign in to the App Store application using the same Apple ID you used to purchase the AppStore version of Logic Pro 9 in the first place.
Then go to the Purchase tab and you will find it there.....
If you get such a message, when you click the download/install button on the far right of the LP9 entry under the purchase tab... sign out of the App Store within the Mac App Store aplication.. and sign back in again.. You probably missed signing one of the new Terms and Coditions... or you need to sign into a different server which happens automatically once you sign out and sign in again, from the App Store...

Help setting up my audio interface with logic pro x

Hi everyone,
I am a newbie with regards to home recording and using Logic Pro X and I need some help and advice about setting up my home recording set up for the first time. I want to connect my synthesizer Korg Triton Extreme to my Audio Interface Steinberg UR22 to my Apple Imac computer.
What I would like is if I can create backing tracks or use pre-set sounds or drum patterns from my Korg Triton Extreme synthesizer and then transfer them onto Logic Pro X to help me compose songs.
How should I go about doing this? And what settings should be applied to Logic Pro X so that I can hear the songs as they are being played and recorded?
So far I have connected my synthesizer's two outputs to the two inputs on my Steinberg UR22 Audio Interface. I have also connected the USB point on the audio interface to my Apple Imac computer. But when I have tried to add a drum track from the Korg Triton Extreme synthesizer I cannot seem to add any of the drum sounds. Nothing appears to be recorded despite me trying several times. I cannot hear any sound coming from the audio interface either despite having a pair of headphones plugged into it.
I would also like to find a way to synchronise the drum tracks I want to record from my Korg Triton Extreme synthesizer to Logic Pro X. So that when I click on the record button on Logic Pro X the synthesizer track automatically starts playing and recording on Logic Pro X. Whats the best way to do this? And will I need a Midi cable for any of the things I want to do?

I just got myself a macbook pro and logic pro X, and I also have a Triton Extreme and the UR22. So I know what the learning curve can be like - it's been a long time since I've used a sequencer in a computer.
I assume you are aware of the difference between audio and midi? With your current setup, all you can do is play your Triton and record the sounds as audio loops - you should be able to hear the Triton through headphones plugged into the UR22, and (assuming you have installed the UR22 driver) you can also hear the Triton through your computer speakers (or headphone output) once you tell Logic there is sound coming in from the UR22.
If you want to be able to play the sounds in logic pro, or transfer drum patterns (which are in midi format), you will definitely need midi cables (you may be able to use midi by connecting the Triton's USB out to your computer, but having not tried that, I don't know if it will work - it does on more recent synths)

Help with mixing my first song in Logic Pro X

Hi everyone,
I am a newbie with regards to Logic Pro X but I feel I am finally in position to mix my first song and I just wondered if anyone had any tips on how I can go about mixing my very first song?
Step-by-Step instructions would be perfect. As this would allow me to learn in a structured way. It would also be helpful if you could give me a brief definition of each effect for example EQ, Reverb, Compression etc and what they are used for in the mixing process.
I would also love to know what volume levels other users use for each specific track when mixing a song.
What volume levels do you use for these tracks/instruments when mixing?
1) Lead Vocals
2) Background Vocals
3) Drums
4) Synthesizer Chords
5) Synthesizer Riffs
6) Strings
7) Horns
8) Guitars Riffs
9) Guitar Solo`s
10) Percussion
And lastly I would love to know with regards to the 10 different instruments above how I should pan these individual items/tracks? I have heard so much about Panning vocals to the left side and right side for example but I am unsure why musicians do this or what effect it is supposed to have?

There is no "magic bullet" here. Everyone has their own way of doing this... mixing is truly an art, like painting, you choose the canvas or medium (sidewalk, building...etc.) and you choose you subject, and colors, brushes, palette knife... give everyone the same tools and subject and you will have as many individual paintings as participants... and when you think about it, isn't that what you want? There are rules and there are no rules, only when you fully understand this paradox will you have reached mixing nirvana, grasshopper.
You are correct, fundamentals first. If someone tells you to set a compressor with certain settings... you won't know why those settings were chosen. Take the times to learn the basics.. for effects you want to first learn Equalization, Compression and Reverb.
In your listing you didn't mention Bass.
Traditionally, a mix starts with mixing Drums and Bass.. be careful not to get them as loud as possible, you will need headroom as you add instruments. Traditionally, every instrument in a mix needs to have it's own space, this is done with panning and equalization. If you have a solid bass part.. you don't want the guitar chords to have so much bass they conflict with the bass instrument.

Your Mac almost meets the minimum requirements for LPX....

The only catch might be your screen size.... but others seem to be able to use such a screen without much issue.. They have to do a little scrolling, in windowed mode, (as they cannot use full screen mode ) to see everything but thats about it. (I personally have never used such a screen so i am relying here on others testimony)
The i3 isn't the world most powerful processor but you will be able to use LPX's freeze and bounce features should you find you tax the processor/memory too much by using too many tracks at the same time....
Its really all down to what you plan to do with LPX and what sort of end results are you looking for...

I've used the FB for some years as a secondary live keyboard interface. It's NEVER been noisy at all until you turn the +12dB extra gain stage on for inputs 1 - 4. You guys know about this right?
This can be a pain if you're trying to connect -10 gear or if you're using a low output mic like a ribbon, but if you're connecting -10 gear then use in 1&2 with the +12 switch off and you'll get a way better sound, and while the FB pre's can only be described as budget, if you use a condenser mic (better output level) they're manageable... But best of all would be to use additional pres to bring your level up to +4 and use inputs 3&4. Used this way the FB has decent sound quality - particularly for the price.
To the original poster, if Reason sounds fine and Logic is distorted perhaps you have your mix levels set way too loud in Logic and that is where the distortion is occurring - not the Firebox at all? I see this kind of thing often as I mix many other artist's recordings and almost without exception, they all come to me with a distorting mix bus from channel levels set too high.
The engineering in the Logic Factory Library is very often pretty bad as well. Apple Loops with really noticeable distortion in the audio and not intentional - and while I love Ultrabeat and other Logic instruments many of the factory kits and presets are set too high output so the channel meter goes red for no good reason.

Logic pro 9 copied from my MACBOOK PRO to IMAC crashes on serial number entered

Please somebody help,
1. I have logic pro 9 on my Mac book Pro.
2. Ive got an IMAC and want to move it to that to work on instead.
3. I copied the logic pro 9 app to a Hard Drive and then onto my IMAC, and then opened it on my IMAC and my IMAC downloaded 2GB of updates .
4. It asked me for my name and serial number which i entered and is the same as whats on my Macbook.
5. when i press enter it crashes ,,,and i cant open it?

In that case, contact Apple directly and ask for their help...
Logic 7 had an XSkey as a physical dongle... so you must have had one of those if you started with Logic 6.... and Logic 8 came with the Logic Studio Boxed set so you must have a serial and physical disks for that.... even if it was an upgrade set... so if you are missing any or all of that then contacting Apple and asking for their assistance, is your only solution.

Can I copy Logic Pro onto other computers in my classroom?

I'm a music teacher at a secondary school and am currently seeing if it is possible for us to buy some macs and Logic Pro for our music tech course. If I b uy one copy of Logic Pro, can I install it on each mac? Or will I have to buy it a number of times?

This is a user only forum, the question should be addressed directly to Apple.
That said, I'm pretty sure you will need to purchase a "Volume License", at least that was the procedure a few years back.

Need some help with strange sounds in Logic Pro 8

I need some help with a problem I have in Logic Pro 8.
When I have arrange window open, suddley strange high tones starts to make noise in my headphones. I don't know where these sounds comes from or why, but I need some help to get them away. Should I just try to contact Apple?

I didn't use it, although it looks great, I went right into the reference manual. I did look at the tutorial song, which was nice cause it gave me some hands on experience with moving things around

Logic is different that other DAW's. Logic's way of doing things may seem real strange to someone who came from using another program. as I said before, spend more time on things that are only found in Logic, like the environment. It really frightens some people.
Many of the questions here in this forum are midi related. people seem to be having a real hard time making midi work in Logic. The manual could be more detailed in explaining midi communication and how the environment is the heart of all of this

No, logic's manual is as good as most others.

there are a few errors, so it is frustrating when you are following the manual but not achieving your goal. For example, page 112 says:

The ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Logic Resources/Icons folder can contain icons which are only valid for the particular user (~ is the user name). If you save your icons in the root directory—/Library/Application Support/Logic/Logic Resources/Icons—the icons are valid for all users. If icons with identical numbers exist in both folders, the icons found in the user folder have priority.
But this is not the case, they actually go in /Library/Application Support/Logic/images/Icons
there was a couple other mistakes like this too, but i can't remember right now

If you wanted to get into doing video tutorial, that would be cool. there is a web site called atomic learning http://www.atomiclearning.com/ they have quicktime video tutorials for a ton of different software applications, some apple, and for a flat fee of 79.99 for a year you can spend as much time as you like learning all of the software applications. I may sign up to learn Web design, and maybe final cut pro. Apple could do something like that for all of the apple software and do it much better I would think, and you guys would make a fortune. well I guess not compared to the fortune you are already making

Logic Pro 9 update - PLEASE HELP!

Hi.
I upgraded my computers to the newest Mac Pro which have Mavericks.
I have problem with Logic Pro - it has strange black lines, which makes it difficult to work.
I wanted to update my Logic Pro (version 9.1.6) but it says I have to do it via Apple Store and apple store app says there are no updates available.
How can I update it?
Ps. It is spelled "Logic Pro", and there are no other copies of Logic on my computer.

First, you must be signed into the Mac App Store using the same Apple ID that you used to purchase Logic in the first place....
check the the purchse tab in the App Store app... To confirm you are signed in with the correct Apple ID as Logic Pro will show up there if you are. If not you are not signed into the App Store with the same ID used to purchase it initially. Use the menu option Store.. To sign out and sign in again with the correct ID
now check updates again.....
if that that desnt work.....
Copy your Logc app to an external drive, delete the copy in your app folder and unplug that external drive.. So there is no copy of Logic Pro on your system anywhere
Now go to the purchase tab in the App Store and you should see Logic Pro there for you to download and install again and this will be the 9.1.8 version...
