HELP! I want to delete a LOCK item.

I'm having a problem with uninstalling Window Media Player version 9 (I think).
I believe Window Media Player does not come with the uninstall wizard. So I try draggin the Window Media Player folder inside the Application folder to the trash. However, when I try to delete it, it says "cannot do that because the file is lock."
Again, I try log in under ROOT, open the window media content and deleting everything 1 by 1. Still I have no luck. I see a bunch of files with the lock icon.

Try right clicking on the WMP program icon and going to get info. At the bottom change the permissions to read and write (if you can). Then try deleting them again. If you can get them in the trash but not delete them from there hold down the apple key and then select empty trash.

Strange issue while trying to delete files - locked item that I can't find

I am working on clearing off some hard drive space, and my first step was to remove some unneeded items from an external HD to make some space there. When I drag the folder I'm trying to delete to the trash, I first get a message that the items will be immediately deleted (I think because my internal HD is quite full?) and that's fine because I do want to delete these, so I say OK. It starts the process of deleting, and counting how many files it's deleting, then gives me a message that the operation cannot be completed because item "xx" is locked. The only solutions I have found on here involve unlocking "xx" but my problem is, when I search the computer and/or the external for item "xx" nothing is found. I'm really not sure if the issue with item "xx" is an issue with the drive or with the computer, or what to do about it?? If it's the drive, I suppose I could back up what I do want to save from the drive then re-format it?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and please word any answers as if you are speaking to a complete idiot, because with regards to this kind of information, you are! Thanks!

Help: iTunes wants to delete all my music and videos off of my iPhone!

I usually keep the option to manually manage music and videos on my iPhone. I only use 1 pc to transfer music and movies to and from my iPhone. Recently for some reason when I launched iTunes, an error message kept poping up repeatedly saying "The iTunes Library file cannot be saved." I fixed the error message by adjusting the user access privileges to my music folder.
Now my music library is completely empty in iTunes, but that shouldn't be a problem because I manually manage my music and videos. However, when I checked the iPhone page in iTunes, the checkbox for manually manage music and videos is unchecked.
So I went to go check the check box so that I can continue to add some more music and videos to my iPhone, however a message box pops up saying:
"The iPhone "my iPhone" is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?"
I have about 12 gigs worth of music and videos which I have carefully hand picked over a period of about 3 months and now iTunes wants to delete all of it because it thinks I want to "sync with another library". I only hope someone can understand how frustrating this is for me. All I want to do is continue to be able to add music and videos to my iPhone without having to erase months worth of work putting the current music I have on there. Can anyone help me?

Thanks for your reply. I don't keep all of my music in the iTunes' designated music folder. I don't like the way iTunes reorganizes my songs and I keep all my music in my own self organized music folders as I don't use iTunes as my primary media application. Not to mention allot of my files come from all different corners of my computer's hard drive. It would literally take months to go through over 20 gigs of media files to pick out the songs I have in my iPhone library to rebuild an iTunes library. Like i said, I don't even use iTunes other than to transfer files to my iPhone. I thought the purpose of manually managing the files was so you don't have to sync it with the iTunes library but now it won't give my that option without requiring me to delete everything on my phone I worked so hard on.
What I don't understand is logically or technically why iTunes HAS to delete all the content off of my iphone. Who's decision in the Apple's software engineering department was to require the one's iPhone to be erased if someone loses their iTunes library? Its frustrating because it makes no sense and I feel as if the software is punishing me for reasons I don't understand by threatening to delete all my content off my phone. Is there absolutely no way to transfer my music to my iPhone without deleting everything currently on and completely rebuilding my music library from scratch?

From the Terminal app, this should do the trick, but run it at your own risk:

Trying to delete "submit" button. Tried unsucessfully 5 times. Need help and want to start over.

I created a pdf that I just wanted people to be able to fill in, download, print out and then mail to me. I followed the instructions from a previous acrobat expert who replied to me yesterday and that did not work. Now, I've tried this 5 times and the system has blocked me out unless I pay for your advanced system which is $143. Please help

Hi,
I believe this is a form that you created with FormsCentral and then you downloaded/saved as PDF via the "Save Submission-Enabled PDF" button via the Distribute Tab.
Please select via FormsCentral app main menu:
- File -> Save As PDF Form... and then
- when you get the dialog "Would you like your PDF form to collect responses online in the "View Responses" tab?" select "Don't Collect Responses" button.
This will save the PDF form without the Submit button/link.

The instructions Lucia gave you were correct. It seems you have a Basic trial account (5 forms). You can just delete the forms you are not using so you can create more. Can you explain in more detail how those instructions above didn't work? I think there is some confusion so any details you can provide will help clear it up.

Unable to delete PO line item if GR qty is different from IV qty

Dear all,
Please help me to check this issue. The PO line item purchased with 10pcs (quantity), and the goods receipt (GR) is 10pcs as well as the invoice verification for 10pcs. However, weeks later, they performed a movement type of 102 to cancel 2pcs back to vendor, but no subsequent movements follow up.
Now, the user wanted to delete this line item in PO, but the system throw out an error message:
"Quantity delivered differs from qty. invoiced (Function not possible)"
Diagnosis: You have attempted to delete an item whose GR and IR quantities differ.
Is there any work-around or solution of how to delete this PO line item?

Thanks for the prompt reply. This particular material is not applying the "GR-based IV" feature. This is why the user is able to cancel the goods receipt without the cancellation of invoice first.
The reason why the user needs to delete the PO line item for this material is because they need to change the valuation class of the material which they suspect this is the cause. They have clear all the stocks quantity, clear all the relevant open quantity but left this PO line item. They wanted to delete the line item so that they can change the valuation class.
Does it mean that it has to use credit memo to clear the quantity? This transaction was posted in 2007, what would be the impact to FI if I post credit memo in 2008?

Syncing deletes outlook calendar items

Hello,
I've looked at past postings and found no resolutions there... PLEASE HELP!
When I sync my Blackberry curve 8330 with outlook 2007 it wants to delete all calendar items before October. Fortunately I saw it said '367' deletions before I clicked ok, but it means I cannot sync my calendar with the BB.
I have XP, Outlook 2007
Desktop Manager 4.7.0.32
I need this fixed urgently.
BTW, I also changed the setting on the BB calendar to 'keep items forever' and it did not resolve the issue.

Hi Ramesh,
Better approach for removing many items from a list is to use the ProcessBatchData method provided by the SPWeb class. First, you need a collection of the list items
you want to remove, and then you can use the Get-SPListItem function to retrieve a list of items that match a given criteria. Then build a batch string with resultant items and call the ProcessBatchData method.
Here is the sample code.

Sync continues to delete past calendar items despite fixes

I have a Tour 9630 and since lates upgrade of Desktop Software, sync of calendar items wants to delete past calendar items from computer Outlook 2007. I have followed instructions from KB18694 but no change in sync problem.

Can you please check to make sure the past calendar items are all still showing on your BlackBerry smartphone before trying to synchronize again. Can you then let me know if you receive this prompt when the calendar entries being deleted on the computer are still on your BlackBerry smartphone?

Go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account. Then log in using a different ID.

My ex had set up a dual apple id, which i didn't know about. deleting locked items.

does this mean that every timed I synced my device he received all my stuff/ photos and things from the last year? I am concerned.

Is this your machine or the company's? Machines that came with Snow Leopard or earlier installed come with system and software install disks that can be used to reisntall the iApps that came with the machine orignally.
If this is your machine and it came with Snow Leopard or earlier installed the disk will look slimialr to one of these:
If it is the company's machine see if they have the disks.
Do a custom install and then use Software Update to update iPhoto to the highest version that is available.

go to 'Edit' in the menu bar. Then choose 'Preferences'.
you'll see a pop-up and there's a tab called 'Devices' there. If you click that, you will be able to check a box that says 'prevent automatic syncing for iPods, iPads and iPhones' or something like that.

NB: if you don't even see the menu bar that has options like 'File, Edit, View, etc', first click the black/white square button on the top left of your screen, and then click 'show menu bar'. It should pop right up.
