Help! iCal deleting events!

Help please!
iCal is deleting events off our business calendar. Everything before 60 days ago has been wiped
1) Is there anything that can be done to retrieve?
2) Is there anything that can be done to ensure this stops?
Please note:
- All computers and devices that sync with these calendars have been checked and are NOT set to delete past events - including all iCal calendars and Blackberry settings.

To respond to redsteven1, everything on iCal and Blackberry preferences are set to keep events forever. This was the first thing I checked. Also, I checked preferences on my mobile me account and those settings are the same. Technically, and on the face of it, there should be no reason why any old events would delete. Clearly there is some kind of bug in the software or syncing process. There are no settings on iSync that should affect this either. I checked that too. At first I thought this may just be a Blackberry problem but from my research on these and other forums it appears that the problem isn't limited to Blackberry users.

Help ical past event

hi there,
i cal wont delete past event automatically. i tried the ical preference->advance tab then tick the box delete event X days after they past an the to do list as well.
i call the apple support they told me to drop and drag plist and does not work, then they told me to reinstall ical still does not work
after that they told me to do archive install same not working and now they told me to erase all my file and reinstall OS again, well it does not work. and now they don't know what to do. please help me to fix this or email to me the solution

got it. even thought you can't scroll to the end of the frozen message. enter will validate and delete immediately. saves the app.

Ical - deleted events prevent from syncing with missing sync

When I try to sync ical with my windows mobile 5.0 running Motorola Q via Missing Sync, I always encounter an error message that one of my ical-events prevents Missing Sync from an error-free sync.
This message comes up when I start Missing Sync: "iCal is reporting synchronization errors. One or more calendar events may not have synchronized properly from iCal. Errors may prevent this application from completing a successful synchronization."
The Missing Sync Protocoll rerfers to an event which I did already delete. So here's the question: how do I really get rid of a ical event which I have already deleted?

Same here. After the update to 10.5 I have succesfully done one sync between my Treo and iCal using MissingSync. Now iCal gives an error, see below. What is the workaround? Downgrading to 10.4.x? Or get an iCal 2 somewhere and run that?
I really want to get my ToDo and Calendar data from my Treo before I go from my Treo 650 to an iPhone. Any workaround is welcome.

ICal deleted event history when updated

After updating my iPhone 4 to version 5.01, the iCal sync saved only this months event history.
Is it possible to recover the previous events?

I also updated Mac and IOS devices to the new update. I tested it on 5 of the stubborn unchangeable calendar entries to no avail.   They changed back within a minute or two.   So I hope you have better luck than I did.
I tested it with the new app I just bought (syncing with iCloud not google) and it propagated to the iCloud website. I checked my iPad, it propagated to that as well, but my phone it did not go to.   I checked my iCloud login, and on all my other devices I was logged in as [email protected] but on my phone i was logged in as [email protected]   Same account obviously, but somehow different perhaps when it comes to syncing and data flow.
Busycal2 worked well for me for this issue, but I know its not justified to spend money to fix a problem that will probably get fixed soon anyhow. I just have a busy february and couldn't wait for an update to fix it.
If you have this issue I recommend checking the login on your devices to see if you are logged in all of them as @iCloud.com and not @me.com username.

Deleting event in iCal 5.0.1 not syncing with Google Calendar

When I delete an event from iCal, it does not sync with Google Calendar. However, when I create an event in iCal, it syncs just fine with Google Calendar. Creating and deleting events from Google Calendar syncs fine with iCal. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Recent support call with Google: iCal deleting events still broken. this is big for us. We have users that have accounts for and/or subscribe to multiple calendars, and took a while to teach them to use iCal, so web based calendars will be foreign to them (even though I like the web based). There is no timeline in place according to Google Tech Support. I feel like the issue is really Apple's issue, so Google is waiting on them to fix, this type of urgency(or lack of) is right up their alley. Oh well.
Does anyone have any suggestions on alternate calendar apps for Mac? Specifically for google calendars?

Why does ical delete my past events when all settings indicate that it should not?

All of the boxes, about deleting past events, in ical preferences are unchecked, so I can't figure out why ical deletes my past events. Could it be because of a setting on either my iphone or ipad causing this to happen?

I had the same problem a few weeks ago and called apple support. The solution is as follows:
Most apple users have multiple devices using icloud such as an iPdad, iPhone, and other computers. In my case, I had two computers, two iPads, and one iPhone. After speaking to apple support, I realized that one of my ipad's setting were set to delete events older then 2 weeks. In short, if you are expeirienceing problems with ical deleteing events, you better check all your devices. If just one of them is set wrong in your preferences, you will lose past events. Even check computers you gave to your cildren or other members of the family. You will probably find out that the settings on one of these machines is causing your problems.

ICal 4.0 and Snow Leopard: can't add / edit / delete events + workaround

iCal 4.0 under 10.6.1, any changes I made in iCal was reversed when I quit and reopened iCal. Plus my changes didn't sync to my iPod.
When looking at the Console.app, I saw:

I tried to export / delete / import all my calendars, that didn't help. Then I noticed I also have the calendar automatically generated for the birthdays from my address book.
I unchecked "Show Birthdays calendar" from the General preferences. Now iCal works again (I can add / edit / delete events and the error message doesn't show in the Console.app anymore)

ICal on Mavericks is unable to delete events on my CalDav calendar

if somebody else experience the same problem: iCal that comes with Mavericks is unable to delete event on a shared CalDav-based calendar (creating a new and editing works). Any help appreciated.

If you are having issues with your iPhone's Calendar application becoming unresponsive or quitting when your attemp to delete an event, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

Ical displays alarm for deleted event and calendar

Ical is displaying a message alarm on my screen for about 5 deleted events. The calendar that contained the events has been removed as well.
how can I stop the message notifications from appearing on my screen.

ICal to iPhone synching deleted events

When synching iCal to my iPhone, I get multiple deleted items added back to my iPhone. I then have to go through and delete them on the iPhone manually. These items are no longer on iCal on my MacBook Pro, but everytime I synch these old deleted events continue to show up. I have changed the name of the calender to see if a particular file was corrupted - that does not fix the problem. It is getting to the point where I just dread synching my iPhone. Any suggestions?

In iTunes, there should be a setting to choose which calendar events created on the phone are added to - something like: “Put new events created on this phone into". (I don't have an iPhone to check detail.)
Make sure that the calendar selected here is the one you are syncing with.
My suspicion is that - even though you are not creating these events on the phone - this setting is preventing their deletion being recognised at the iCal end of the equation.

You deleted them in iPhoto on your Mac?
If you do not have a backup of your iPhoto library, run the recovery program you downloaded, then reimport the folder with recovered photos into iPhoto.
You will probably have to weed out plenty of seemingly duplicates (thumbnails, previews, and original files), since the program will not be able to reconstruct your events, only find image files.

It is obviously awhile back since the question was posted, but I ran into the same problem just yesterday. For purpose of this discussion, I will assume the problem is that of deleting calendars from an iOS device. You should be able to delete your own created event by tapping on the event, then scroll all the way to the bottom of the edit dialog window and tap "Delete Event". To delete your own created calendar, tap on "Calendars" tab at top left of opened iCal app (on iPad). Then tap on "Edit" tab in the dialog window that comes up. Then tap on calendar you wish to delete. Go to bottom of "Edit Calendar" dialog window and tap on "Delete Calendar".
The above directions will likely NOT work to delete a "subscribed" calendar. I tried, and the calendar kept coming back like a bad habit. It appears that subscribed calendars need to be deleted via iOS settings. Tap on iOS "Settings" icon, then tap on settings for "Mail, Contacts, Calendars". Under the heading "Accounts", find, and tap on "Subscribed Calendars". Then tap on the calendar you wish to delete. Scroll to the bottom of that calendar's dialog window, and tap "Delete Account". This worked for me.

Icloud deletes events after they occur. Help

One of my calendars in icloud deletes events after they occur, but none of the others do. I don't want them to delete. I have checked the "Settings" and I am synching all events. Anyway to get a calendar from deleting entries after they occur?

Is this calendar somehow connected to some app? I have several apps that integrate with Calendar having their own calendars. The app can control the display of events and remove them given a particular situation.

Delete events without notifying

Is there any way to delete events in iCal without notifying recipients? I not only get duplicate calendar items sometimes, but spam messages with ical events. Do I really need to notify spammers that they've got a valid email address? It's either that or stare at their event in iCal.
I've read some old posts on the topic, and it appears the only solution is a commercial program. Surely there must be a better way...

Hi,
One way would be to unplug the machine from the internet before changing the events in iCal, then delete the response emails from Mail's outbox before re-connecting.
Note: I have written some shareware software to help people deal with this issue, but I'd hardly call it 'commercial'.
