Help Identifying a Problem

Question

So as a bit of background we've got a homehub 2 and for the most part we've been pretty happy with it. Not too many issues and a fairly steady connection (just came off a run of 16 days without any drops which for us is fairly fantastic) so no probs.
10-15 days ago we had a drop in connection which was the beginning of the problem seemingly. I've kept an eye on it since then and without fail it has been dropping at least once or twice a day according to the hub manager.
When it happens both the broadband light and the phone light on the hub go off, so just the power and wireless lights left on. I can't really get my head around the problem, as in the past any problems we've had have resulted in the usual flashing orange broadband light etc. Have had a look around the forums but haven't really settled on a solution - could be a defective hub maybe? Don't think it's the exchange but who knows - may be worth noting our sync speed previously tended to top out at around 1900 odd.
Changed the filter 3-4 days ago so don't think its that.
Checked the hub manager last night to see what else I could gather and noticed the exceptionally high errors for framing, signal and error seconds but I have no idea what the cause of that would be? Any help appreciated, thanks.

Sorry to bump this but the problem has persisted since I last posted and we're really at our wits end with it.
I said before that broadband is on for the large majority of the day but it will drop out at certain times for around 30 minutes usually (but sometimes for well over an hour) with no way of re-connecting and that still remains the problem.
These dropouts occur maybe 2 or 3 times a day, late at night or first thing in the morning usually (but it does vary). 7pm is now a common time for it as well seemingly. As I said rather than the broadband flashing on the hub it just goes off, other lights remain on. It will eventually re-connect by itself and no problems until the next dropout.
We phoned BT about it roughly a week ago and they said it was most likely a filter problem. We've changed them around more than once since then (and put in brand new ones last night) so I'm pretty sure it's not that as it has had no effect.
Thought myself it may be a fault with the hub but we set up the HH3 last night and the problem hasn't gone away so it's not that either I don't think.
I'll try the master socket as you suggested jolly when it goes off again but in the meantime has anyone ever come across this problem before? I'm looking more for a cause than a solution at the moment, I just can't figure it out.
p.s unrelated but our sync speed has dropped considerably since we set up the new home hub (gone from 2 to 3). Is this normal? Thanks.
