Help : IEEE 1394 failed to work in W2K (code 10 error)

Hi all,
My KT4 Ultra FISR c/w IEEE 1394 and been trying to get it work under Win2K & XP. So far managed to get USB 2.0 working under Win2K but IEEE 1394 always failed with code 10 error in 'hardware manager'.
Anybody got experienced before ?

the domains have to "trust" each other. Make sure to follow the instructions about the "enabled generated credential" in the following doc:

Well, you can just count the pins, but I'm sure it's a 4-pin.  See this illustration:

  • I cannot get an IEEE 1394b camera to work (I've tried the Prosilica patch).

System info: LabVIEW version 8.0, NI-IMAQ for 1394 2.0, Camera = Sony XCD-V50 (IEEE 1394b), Windows XP pro (service pack 2)
Working in Measurement and Automation Explorer, I encountered this:
"Sony 1394 XCD-V50" appears under Devices and Interfaces, but I get this error.
    IMAQ error 0xBFF68001
    "Cannot load the driver"
I've tried to configure the device by right clicking and selecting the driver "NI-IMAQ IEEE 1394 IIDC Digital Camera". I get this error.
    IMAQ error 0xBFF68016
"Insufficient resources available for the required video mode"
I installed the Prosilica "Firewire Fix" utility to re-install service pack 1 firewire drivers to run 1394b at full speed. But the error remains.

    Hello,
It sounds like you may have a third party driver associated with your Sony camera.  If you installed a Sony driver, please uninstall it.  After uninstalling any third party drivers that you may have, please try updating the driver for your camera in the Windows Device Manager.  You can do this by selecting Update Driver... from the right-click menu.  After updating the driver in the Windows Device Manager, try configuring your device in MAX with both NI IMAQ for IEEE 1394 2.0 and NI IMAQdx if you have both drivers available.
The Prosilica patch should only affect the available transfer speeds.  Without the patch, you may select a maximum of 100 Mb/sec.  With the patch, you may select up to 800 Mb/sec for 1394b cameras.  The patch will not affect the problem loading the driver.  You must address the driver problem before the insufficient resources problem.
If you continue to have difficulty using the IMAQ for IEEE 1394 2.0 driver, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the driver.  Remember to unplug your Sony camera before starting this process.  For more information on Acquiring from Firewire Cameras with National Instruments NI-IMAQdx and Legacy NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394, please click here.  Please let us know if you continue to have difficulties with this issue.

  • Please Help.... IEEE 1394

Just brought an IPOD nano ma4777zt/a (don't understand 2nd generation / click wheel ?)
and my PC runs Windows XP home Edition
loaded itunes onto my computer by clicking download on web site Itunes 7
Once complete connected ipod via cable and I've got the message
"No IEEE 1394 Host controller found"
Searched for 8 hours & nothing seems to have worked
    Please help !!!!

Carefully check the bottom dock connector for any bent over pins or something in there shorting pins together. A magnifying glass would be a help.
The Firewire data pins on the dock connector are right next to some power pins and if you get a short between them, it can fool the iPod into thinking there is data coming in on the Firewire pins and it will give you Firewire related error messages.
For that matter, be sure to carefully check the Dock end of the USB cable for the same sort of problems. It would be help if you can find, beg, borrow, another USB cable, even if you just go to a local electronics store that sells iPods and see if you can test your iPod with one of their cables. Obviously if it doesn't give you the message on a different cable, then your cable is the issue. If you still get the message, then likely it is your iPod itself.

Try removing the Genius database.  In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

  • Qosmio G30: Sony MV cam doesn't work with IEEE 1394 port

Qosmio G30-117 doesn't support my Sony DCR-IP5E (a micro video cam) through ieee 1394 port. I have tried to use pinnaccle studio 9 and ulead video studio 10, but I couldn't see my cam through these programs.
There is no problem if I install a new win xp media center edition (retail pack) and the drivers from CDTOOLS. But I want to use my factory setup of Qosmio,I don't want to buy a new win xp media center edition.
How can I resolve this problem?
    Thanks everybody.

    Hi,
I had the same problem with my Sony-Handycam. It is not a problem of the Qosmio but of XP SP2 and the new driver for msdv.sys.
Workaround to bring this driver back to SP1 (please follow instructions strictly):
You need msdv.sys from a SP1. It may be on your computer, if it was installed with SP 1 before.
Otherwise, you have to get it from someone else.
Remove Camera from Device Manager, if it has been shown anytime (look also for hidden devices)
Reboot in secure mode (F8 while starting) and login as admin.
Navigate to \Windows\Driver Cache\i386. Find the file "driver.cab" and open it.
In the cab find "msdv.sys" and expand it to your desktop. The version must be less than 5.3.2600.2180.
(If you installed native XP with SP2, you have to use the file, you got from someone else instead)
Copy the files in this folders, if available:
    Windows\system32\drivers
    Windows\system32\dllcache
    Windows\LastGood\System32\Drivers
(Maybe you want to rename the original files before)
Change to Windows\Driver Cache\i386 an search for sp2.cab.
Rename it to sp2.old and reboot.
    Your camera should work now.
If not, change the file avc.sys in the same way. You will find it in sp1.cab or have to get it from someone else.
I solved the problem this way on my last notebook and on my qosmio.
    greetings

  • Connecting IEEE 1394 & I394b

I have a mid-2010 27' inch IMac and I would like to connect it to my cira 2001 Yamaha CD External Recorder.  Both have firewire the Yamaha is IEEE 1394 and Mac is 1394b. Is that possible?  If so, what wires and/or adapotors do I need to get to make everything work.

1394 is probably 400 (6 pins) and 1394b is 800 (9 pins). Do you have your Yamaha manual? It will tell you which Firewire port and cable you need. If you don't, you can Google the burner model number to find out. Sounds like you have 400 on the CD burner and 800 on the iMac. The 800 will slow to 400 when connected. Since the burner is 400 that can't be helped. You can get an 800 cable and a 800 to 400 adapter.
One way to solve it would be to go to a Best Buy that has an Apple Store inside, with your burner in hand, and show it to the guy/gal and tell him/her what you want to do. The cables won't be cheap there. You can look and then order online, or just buy there and be done with it.

  • Attempting to control Sony DFW-VL500 via IMAQ IEEE-1394 and LabView 7.0

I'm attempting to get images from a sony DFW-VL500 camera. I defined it as a device in MAX 3.0: the grab and snap functions seem to work. However, I cannot save video (only still images work).
This is a non-issue since what I would like to program in Labview 7.0 is to preview a continuous image and then snap individual frames. However, I keep incurring a -1074364408 error. Has anyone been able to get a functional VI that grabs images with this camera? Furthermore, is there a way for me to control the Zoom and Focus via LabVIEW? Any help will be appreciated.

The error you are receiving is a "Function not supported error" - which function does this error occur at? Make sure that your camera supports this feature and that you are calling it correctly.
I do know that this camera is supported by the NI-IMAQ for IEEE-1394 driver, version 1.5. If you don't have this latest version, you'll want to update that - although since it is not a free download, you'll have to call in to NI to get it.
In order to program what you are discussing, take a look at the following linked example program.
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niepd_web_display.display_epd4?p_guid=B45EACE3E1DB56A4E034080020E74861&p_node=DZ52490&p_source=External
You'll have to replace the regular IMAQ functions with 1394 functions, but other than that it should be th
    e same.

  • NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 cameras under LabVIEW 6.1

I just purchased this driver for Firewire cameras and got the latest version 2.0 that seems to only work for LV 7 and higher. Which version works for LV 6.1 and where can I get it? (Older versions of these drivers don't seem to be available under the driver pages at ni.com in the usual place.) I suppose i need to "downgrade" now. Any insights?

    Hello bernhardschnurr,
Thank you for using our discussion forums. You will have to use NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 cameras ver 1.5.3 or earlier for support for LabVIEW 6.1. These drivers are not available for download on our website. I would recommend contacting your local NI support and they can help you get these drivers. Please visit http://www.ni.com/support/ and choose to phone NI.

  • SP A10: XP SP2 and Maxtor IEEE 1394: Need MS Hotfix?

    I have a Satellite Pro A10 hooked up to a external Maxtor 80Gb disk on a Firewire/IEEE 1394 link.
The IEEE 1394 is attached to a PCMCIA card (from Belkin) which uses the NEC 1394 chipset.
There is a Hotfix available from Microsoft (see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;885464) but MS Support say this can only be sourced through Toshiba Support.
Can you help me obtain the Hotfix?
Without it I can rarely access the drive.
It works fine on my Tecra M2 which accesses the same drive through it's built-in 1394 interface. The problem only occurs with 1394 chipsets from NEC.

    Hi
Well, did you contact the Belkin support?
In my opinion you should ask the PCMCIA card manufacturers for the upgrade or this hotfix. Furthermore you can check the Toshiba drivers download page for this hotfix. The Microsoft hotfixes are called QFE. Maybe you will find the right one. But unfortunately, if you are not able to find this one, you have to wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this hotfix. :(
    Bye
