Help! iMac Computer Crashed with Music Library On It

I still have an iPod with music on it and I tried to download the library to my HP Pavilion laptop and I was only given the option to wipe it clean. Since I purchase all the music from iTunes, shouldn't I be able to access it on my other computer or something?...Lost thousands of songs!!! I just purchased an iPad and am frustrated because I can't get my music on it. Anybody know what I can do to get to my music again?

the following post by Zevoneer in this thread http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8794716 says it all:
If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link you'll be able to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • Old Computer crashed with music Library

My old computer crashed so I am left with my music on my ipod. Is there a way I can copy my music from my ipod into my new itunes on my new computer. Otherwise I will need to reload all my cd's again. Not something I am looking forward to.
    Thanks, Neil

    This shouldn't be a problem.
Just sync your iPod with the newly installed iTunes.
Synchronisation works both directions, so all music on the iPod will go to the PC as well as the other way round.
Even with no crash of your computer, there might be occasions where you load new music to your iPod elsewhere, and you're still able to keep the data on your PC identical by using the synchronisation feature.
    Best Regards

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.

  • Computer Crashed with iTunes+songs

I have computer that has crashed and now it needs to be restored. the computer has iTunes with some songs from the store and from my cd. is there anyway to get these songs back? i know i can rip the ones from the cd. I have reciepts that iTunes sends me whenever i download a song, anyway to use those to get songs back?

    Allen,
If you have no backup files and the computer HD is toast, then recovering those files may be impossible. You can try emailing Apple about your iTMS songs, but they are quite explicit in their warning to backup your files as the download is a one-time event without a re-purchase.
If you have some/all songs on your iPod, then these links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring playlists, ratings, playcounts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…

After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
You need at least three sets of your music: on the PC within iTunes, on an external backup medium, and on the iPod (in full or in partial).
Music files on just the iPod and the computer is not considered having any backup.
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl).

    The error is in the blue screen:0x00000076 (0x00000000 , 0x81358300, 0x000001c2, 0x00000000).

The DASYLab development team has read your message, and advises that there is insufficient information to be able to even start diagnosing the problem. We suggest that you send a note directly to [email protected], with your full contact information, DASYLab serial number, and the following technical information:
-The Help-->Report information - this will tell us more about the computer, video and installed memory
-Installed hardware - what DAQ devices are you using (exact models!)
-The worksheet that crashes - we need to see how the timing is configured in the worksheet
-What other programs are running at the same time?
-Does the worksheet crash every time?
-Does the NI-DAQ Test Panel work correctly for both inputs and outputs?
Sorry that we cannot be more help in this forum; we do not have much experience with blue screen under Windows 2000. This is very hard to do, and is almost always related to a hardware problem - either a resource conflict, or problems with one of the installed hardware devices (DAQ, Video, Memory...).

    Hi jagsgurl15,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Copying songs from your iPod to your computer
"The iTunes library on your computer holds all the songs you've encoded from your CD collection or purchased from the iTunes Music Store. With default settings, iTunes automatically copies the songs in your library to your iPod. When you use your iPod as a hard disk, you can't see the songs iTunes copies to your iPod in the Finder or My Computer. This is normal. Using the Finder or My Computer, you can't copy these song files from your iPod back to iTunes or to any other computer. The synchronization between your iPod and your computer is always one way: from iTunes to iPod.
If you've erased the music library on your computer, there's no way to use the Finder or My Computer to copy the songs from your iPod to reconstitute the library on your computer. One solution is to encode the songs from your CD collection again, then sync your new library with iPod. If you purchased songs from the iTunes Music Store and didn't back them up, there's no way to download them again. You'll have to buy new copies of the songs."
Taken from Using your iPod as a hard disk
Can you get them from a backup off your old computer? Or didn't you do a backup?
    Regards
    Colin R.

  • Computer crash = lost music

I own one of the old iPod gumstick shuffles, and well recently my computer crashed. I replaced said computer and now when I try to connect my shuffle, it asks me if I want to erase and sync with the new iTunes library... but I want all my music off of my shuffle! Is there a way for me to get that music off of it?

It's not very clear, but are you saying that you want to move all of your current iPod contents into iTunes? If so, then you'll have to use any of a variety of 3P utilities to do that. Look into iPodRip and Senuti, two that I can think of off the top of my head.

  • HELP! can't reload music library after having to reload itunes.

Help! My Dell had to be serviced for 'slowness' problems. We backed up my huge song list to a external hard drive. I made the mistake of reloading itunes before I reloaded my library. Upon the first itunes download, it automatically searched my entire computer and found 3 (YES 3!)songs to go into my library (2 came free with the itunes download and one was in a documents file). When I tried to 'import' my song list, it would only import songs 1 by 1!!!!! Yikes! I have 200+ albums and hundreds of other individual songs. I can't spend 10 days re-importing each song.
I tried removing iTunes tonight. I thought if I re-downloaded the program AFTER my music files were loaded, that it would pick them up and add them back to the music library(like it did the first download). However, no such luck. It won't recognize my song list. Please help me re-load my music files to itunes. Greatly appreciated!
    Thanks! Billy

Chris, I tried it a different way....to actually drag the music files and folders into the itunes (program screen), not just into it's music folders. Thanks because it's working.
