Help! iMovie won't update.

Urgent!
I recently downloaded iMovie to my macbook. It is version 9.0.7. In the updates section in the app store, I press the update button. It lets me put in my password and then it just goes back to being 'update' again. I've tried multiple times and it still won't work.
I need to update this ASAP as I need the newest version for a project. What do I do?

  • IPhoto and iMovie won't update on my MacBook Pro OS 10.8.3

I have a MacBook Pro, s/n W8******AGZ, running OS 10.8.3. Ever since the last update of 10.8.2 I've been having problems updating my iPhoto software. Now, just recently, iMovie won't update either.
What is an Apple community guy supposed to do now??? Please anyone with easy to do answers?

I was trying to update iphoto 9.4.3, through the app store. then this message comes up

i'm the only one on my mac. i only have 1 itunes account so it has nothing to do with any UserID issue. i tried reindexing spotlight. This has been an issue for about a month now.  Then i deleted iPhoto app and securely emptied the trash. All my software was in my macbook pro when it was shipped to me Feb. 2011. These are the two software, in question. iMovie is giving me the same message now.

  • IMovie won't update to 9.0.8, Mac App Store tells me I have to buy?

So, the problem I am having, as alluded to by the title, is that in the "Updates section of the Mac App Store, iMovie has an update to 9.0.8 listed, but when I attempt to update to the new version, the Mac App Store tells me I need to buy it, However, iMovie came preinstalled on my 1 1/2 month old Macbook Pro with Retina Display. I don't use iMovie often, so it's not a big deal, but I do find it very annoying.

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
When you get a new Mac with the iLife apps preinstalled, you need to accept these apps into your Mac App Store (MAS)/iTunes Stores Apple ID. Have you done that?
Normally soon after setting up your new Mac you need to open the MAS and sign into your account. Go to the Purchased pane and acccept the three iLife apps.

  • Help, imovie won't save clips

    Hi,
I'm new to imovie, but it doesn't seem to want to save any clips I import into a project. I save the project, go to open it and the clips are in the trash! It won't save anything on the timeline either.... Also if I edit a clip, save, then close and re-open the clip is unedited and in the trash.
Is there a way to fix this? I need to close imovie at some point and come back to a project at a later date, I can't keep re-editing everything!
    Help & thanks in advance.

I'm having this same problem with iMovie 6.0.3. It's happening on all eight eMacs (10.4.11) in my computer lab, so it's not an isolated incidence. I have the student import DV clips from a DVD. They work on them - trimming, renaming, putting in the time line - and then save the project to the hard drive. When they come back to work on it the next day, they get this message: error message. All the work they've done is undone, and the clips are all in trash. It will let me move them out, but if I save, exit and reopen, they're all back in the trash. HELP!
I deleted the preferences, but it still doesn't work. I did a search for iMovie, and deleted any thing that had been edited in the last few days, figuring something may have gotten corrupted, but this is happening on eight systems? What are the chances of eight systems all becoming corrupt at the same time?! Could this be an issue with a recent software update?
Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.

  • Help File Won't Update

I am having a problem in getting an updated help file to show up in the program execution. The help file is <program_help/index.html>, and shows up correctly in both the Resources and Products Groups in XCode. That is, after modifying only some text in the index.html file the modified index.html correctly appears in the XCode editor. The path to the index.html file is (correctly) unchanged in the Groups & Files list. The info.plist also remains unchanged.
After a clean/rebuild, the correct modified <program_help/index.html> is located in the Contents folder of <build/Release/program>. However, when program is launched, either within XCode or in the Finder, the Help file accessed via the Help menu has not been updated, i.e., the older unmodified version of the index.html file is displayed from within the program.
I am obviously missing something - any suggestions will be appreciated.

I agree that it is probably a cached file somewhere. I have not been able to find it, though. I have trashed the ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.helpui folder and any other files I've found that reference the program in ~/Library - but the wrong help file still keeps turning up.
I've even tried to explicitly modify the com.apple.helpui/TOCCache.plist entry for the program with the pathname to the correct help file, but as soon as I call the help file in the program the TOCCache.plist file entry reverts to the the old version of the help file in an earlier version of the program.
I doubt that any of these exercises should be necessary, though. There must be some setting in XCode that should take care of getting the correct reference for the help file. I've looked and can not find anything at this point.
One step I will eventually take is to remove all possible sources of the old help file and then see what happens.

  • IMovie won't update because of an old card.

    Hello!
Besides buying a new iMAC, what can I do to get an updated card for my iMAC (purch. 03/2008) so that I can update the newest version of OSX Maverick iMovie App??  I upgraded to OSX Maverick yesterday.  I'm not sure what my options are on this. Thanks!!

Nothing, you cannot upgrade the GPU in you iMac. Sorry for the bad news but if your machine is too old then well it's too old.

  • I need help: iTunes won't update my 5G 60 GB Black iPod, can someone help?

My internet connection is working fine, I'm getting errors when trying to update my Black 5G 60 GB iPod which is formatted for Windows. I'm getting errors 1417 and I also got -50. Can anybody help me fix the problem so my iPod can play games? I really want to play games because I bought the iPod a little bit more than 3 months ago and I believe it should be able to play games because it's still new. Please Help

It sounds like you actually have a 2G iPod Touch, which can only be updated to iOS 4.2.1 and no later.  See here to help you verify what generation your iPod Touch is.

As for the iPhone 3G, it can only go as high as iOS 4.2.1 as well.

  • IMovie won't update to 10.0.1

I recently update my 2011 MacBook Pro 13" to OS X Mavericks. I was prompted to update iPhoto and iMovie. iPhoto updated no problem but every time I hit update for iMovie it comes up with a message "We could not complete your update. The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed." Any ideas what the problem may be?

After cancelling the download and restarting my computer the problem resolved itself. I had tried this previously to no avail... There seems to be no method in the madness of Mavericks!

  • HELP itunes won't update ALL tracks

I imported tracks onto itunes & they were skipping so i re-imported & replaced the existing files. now the tracks in itunes are perfect, except i can not get them to upload onto my ipod as no matter what preferences i select it will only ever upload newly added tracks, not the replaced tracks. DRIVING ME MAD

Probably (and I emphasize "Probably") because your iPod sees the "replaced" tracks as already existing and, therefore, doesn't update them.

  • Help Software won't update

Ok so I am working on iMac and the software is wayyyy out of date! It is 10.5.8. So I got the Mac OS X Snow Leopard and every time I install it it starts to work then 15 20 mins later he restarts the computer saying it will continue to work after restart. Well it never finishes the installing.
I don't know what to do from here.

I suspect the 10.6.8 install is corrupt, please re-install 10.6.8.

  • IMovie, IPhoto won't update after Mavericks upgrade from OSX 10.06

Upgraded to Mavericks, iMovie won't update, says, "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." And then I get a null error.
However, I am using the only apple ID I have to sign in to the app store.
