HELP! Imported ALL Pictures and Now LR points to missing files that are in LR!
HI! This is my first post and I think I've made a big boo boo. In order to better organize my photos, I consolidated my pictures by year in My Pictures. Each subfolder is marked yyyymmdd. In the process of doing this I have now imported all my photos to LR. Usually, I just import the ones that I want to edit. Now, LR points to missing or offline files. When I try to find them, I get the message this folder already exists in LR.
How can I redirect these files to their new location AND keep the LR adjustments. I definately don't want to loose the adjustments I've made. If we were only talking about a few pictures, I could copy down the adjustments in the history and reapply them one by one. I've even tried copy and paste the adjustments to the file in the new location. I've tried syching folders and that just deletes the missing photo and does NOT apply the lightroom adjustments to the original photos in the new folder form the mass import.
I'm sure there has to be a way! PLEASE HELP SAVE MY SANITY!!

You may have to do this image by image, depending on how you moved them- in Explorer or Finder? And, I presume, after they were imported?
As you can see, moving files, once imported into LR, should be done by LR......

flex/sdk/branches/3.0.x/build.xmlOne small thing - I believe the reason why some of my drivers were messing up was because they were SP2 specific; the older drivers and the ones that were compatible with both SP and 2 were fine.
As soon as I did the reinstall, all of the drivers/programs that were not working, worked (aside from the ones that I mentioned in my attached email above).
So, if after uninstalling the old SP2 you are told that loads of drivers/programs will not work, fear not - most should fix themselves upon installing the new SP2.

Missing Files that are found and lost again
I have Photoshop Elements 10 that I am using with Windows XP Service Pack 3, a Pentium 4 CPU with 3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and 48.6 GB of free disk space.
Yellow question marks continue to appear on the top left of some images in one of my catalogs even though these images have not actually been moved. The Organizer searches for the "missing file" and finds it quickly but why is it "missing"? I have gone through the albums in this catalog, completed the missing file searches on all the images so that no yellow question marks appear and when I go back to the catalog the next time I find the yellow question marks are there again! What is making the found file become lost again?And what happens if it is 'unchecked' ?
It's good to check periodically if there are missing files but there is no necessity to let the Organizer do it automatically. Since checking is very quick, I am used to do it before any maintenance in the Organizer : backups, optimization... -
When in europe I needed to empty pics while on vacation. 2 friends let me load them onto their computer and then a flashdrive and portable hard drive of mine. Iphone still says it will sync to them even though showed as my iphone automatically on their computer . How do I stop this wifi auto sync that was not music only pics. I did the first myself to the one computer and drag and drop to a file on theirs. Maybe itunes helped create file??

HT201210 My updates for apps has stalled and now i cant use my apps that are updating what can i do
Starte updating through app store and it has frozen the apps that were updating at that time which are the main ones i use. Now any new ones update but those that were in the section of of time during that update time are frozen and wont install such as tom tom flashlight etc what can i do. thanks
- You can try editing your acount to say none for credit card but usually that opion is not avaialbe.

I have imported all photos and videos from my iPhone 5S into Aperture ver.3.4.5 and now cannot find them. I thought I could open a panel showing all imports and merely list them chronologically, but I don't see how to do this. There are over 1800 photos and about 100 videos, any help to locate where they've gone would be appreciated.
Try to search with a Smart Album for photos and videos taken with an iPhone:
File > New > Smart Album:
Add an EXIF rule fro the "Add Rule" drop down menu: EXIF
and set it to "Camera Model includes iPhone".
Set the scope of the search to "Library"
If there are any iPhone images or videos in your library at all, this search should find them. Then ctrl-click any of the items and select "Show in Project" from the contextual menu.
Generally, Aperture should be showing your last import in the "Last Import" smart album in the "recent" section". And the "projects" view can be sorted by date, so you should see your recent imports.
You may want to check all search fields, if searches are active. -

Thank you for the answers so far, but I'll make one correction: I said earlier that the Boston Globe website, boston.com, does not have a mobile site, and I would need to visit their regular website on my iPhone. Actually, I just found out that boston.com has a mobile site, so I'd obviously use that instead of the regular site. By doing that, I'd save a ton of data (I think). Does that change your answers?

Hello! I want to sell my iphone 3g because i have 3gs- i cleared the info in settings and now have black screen saying no service and usb port pointing to itunes - is that all i do ? i am pretty ignorant of computers- lol- i had read that i need to plug it back into itunes to verify it has all cleared out- i want to sell it on craigs list or ebay- i am really hurting for money right now- all your answers appreciated...
It needs to be restored by someone. You can do it, and set it up as a new phone, or the buyer can do it.

My child got ahold of my mac book. She did something and now there is a "dialogue box" that is constantly displayed and it essentially narrates all of my actions, telling me what I am doing and viewing etc. Along with it every icon I click shows a box arond it . Help me get rid of this, please.
Choose system preferences, then under 'Personal' choose 'Universal Access''
You will see a checkbox called 'Voice Over'' (under the seeing tab). Switch this to off.

Files Renamed when importing to LR4 and now can't find them in LR3
Help! What should I do???
Yesterday I installed LR 4 Beta. I had a folder with 300 images in it on LR 3, obviously all files had names. I imported these photos into LR4 to work with LR4 and they were renamed in the process. Now in my LR3 folder, all the files still have there old names and the "missing photo ?" and I assume that's because the name has been changed and LR3 can't find them. Any thoughts on an easy fix?

I must admit, I didn't pay too much attention when importing this "test"
group of photos to LR4, therein lies my problem. Now that I look at the
import settings that were used:
1. Files were not added or copied, they were "moved" to a new location and
also renamed.
2. Files were renamed starting with "264" using my regular import template.
Listed below are the first 10 photos with their original LR3 and he
changed LR4 names.
1201_001 changed to 1201_264-2
1201_002 changed to 1201_265-2
1201_003 changed to 1201_266-2
1201_004 changed to 1201_267-2
1201_005-Edit-Edit changed to 1201_268-2
1201_005-Edit changed to 1201_269-2
1201_005-Edit changed to 1201_270-2
1201_005-Edit-Edit-2 changed to 1201_271-2
I have a back up of my images on an EHD from several days ago which has the
original file names, but this backup only has 203 of the 268 images I
imported yesterday and are renamed.

If your preferences keep getting messed up try this: make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

I have Windows 7 Professional and I used to be able to move the curser over the Firefox Icon in the taskbar and it would show me a telescoped view of all open tabs, now it just shows the tab that I'm currently viewing. How do I fix this?

Do you have the option checked for ''Show Tab Previews in the Windows Taskbar''? If not, just go to ''tools->options->tabs.'' You can find more information on what each of these settings do in the Knowledge Base article [[Options window - Tabs panel]].

How do I find all pictures and videos that are in email files?
I am trying to find and extract all pictures and videos that people have sent me in emails (and in other parts of the computer but not in the pictures area) over the years to copy them into my aperture collection. Does anyone know how to do that. I use Outlook 2011. X1 on the PC can do this with a preview of the pictures so you can remove all small gifs etc.
