My name is Giuseppe
I have a iPod 16Gb 2gen. This object was in water but I opened it and I maked the chip-off.
Now I have the bin image and with foremost i put out all kind of data information. I find a plist that I don't know.
In particular i find a plist with a date e time very interesting, the tag of this plist is
<string>wake</string>
<key>scheduledby</key>
<string>PersConn-apsd-coh.apple.com</string>
What is PersConn-apsd-coh.apple.com?
Wich service is on a iPod?
I didn't have a app with this name, and normally in my old backup I never find this plist
I'm reading something the file system of iPod is HFSX and this "iOS" is divide in 4 part: Cocoa Touch; Media Layer; Core Service; Core OS.
Is possibile that when I make a backup I see the information only the frist part (ie Cocoa Touch) and when I'll make the chip-off I'll see the other layer?
Do you know were I can find the list of all plist on a iPod?

Desktop, OneDrive, Box files have disappeared from MacBook -- yet the folders remain! How do I find the file contents?

Recently I went to my OneDrive on my 2014 MacBook Pro to get some docs, and ALL the folders were empty. (OneDrive is formerly SkyDrive.) I also use BOX. I checked the trash bins on my Mac and my OneDrive. Nothing. Then I realized that ALL my folders were empty -- including those on my desktop and in BOX. ALL my work is gone. This is a big deal...and unfortunately, I did not use Time Machine.
The whole idea of the external drive was to protect these docs. They sync with the computer -- if the computer docs disappear, so do the contents on the external drives. But regardless, anything that was IN A FOLDER is gone -- xls, PDFs, docs, etc. iTunes and pics are okay.
About a week or so before this I downloaded Picasa. Not sure if this may have had an affect on my computer.
I contacted Microsoft and they are useless. I went to the Genius bar, and they never heard of such a thing. They have moved it up but haven't heard anything from Apple. This is something that happened due to the MacBook operating system, not a virus. I've seen other similar posts where files "just disappear" but not to this extent.
I really need some help or a forensic person to figure this out. It is quite problematic. I appreciate you help mucho....

So this seemed to result in the outcome I wanted:
- Find the old Thunderbird profile location (.../AppData/Roaming ... THunderbird/Profiles/...default/Mail/first.account.domain/Inbox
- FInd the same location on the New laptop
Copy the first (old, backup) inbox to a new file in the New profile folder; I did Inbox.bak
Start TBird - and lo and behold, I have folders "Inbox" (recent mail since the old laptop crash) and "Inbox.bak" (the mail I thought was lost).
Looks like I need to add all accounts to the New TBird first so that it creates the profiles, and after that copy the backup Inbox & Sent files to the new profile folders.
This worked for me. Not very elegant, with several manual steps, but end result is what I needed.
It would be great if there was a smoother way for disaster recovery.
And yes, I should have had better backup policy in place. For everyone's benefit - I do Data Center systems for a living, and have seen far too many "backup" services which do not actually work in a restore situation. That's why my personal backups are direct file copies on large disks. It works, but leaves room for manual error, which is what happened here.
Actual folders, btw, I keep where I see them - "c:\users\username\Thunderbird" - for this very reason.

Forensic Expert needs help with FCP

Hi,
I recently purchased FCP and I am a forensic audio expert.
I want to use this in court presentations as well as the occasional talk show appearance. I have a pretty good grasp on the functions and capabilities but I have two very important questions to ask.
1. I want to be able to visually display an Audio Wave form that moves in real time with the audio track for transcription purposes and court room presentation. In other words, I want the jury to be able to see either a spectrograph or wave form on a large screen while the transcript is superimposed on top of it. I am not worried about getting the text on the screen but I can't seem to figure out how to display the audio in either format visually moving in real time.
2. Are there any other forensic experts out there using FCP that might be willing to share some secrets or scripts with me?

How can I get a list of IP's that have got access to my account I have a court summons and the information could only have been gathered from my Icloud account. Apple cant or wont help me. Urgent please have to go to court tomorrow.

I believe my ex employer has hired someone to hack into my account. They have had my laptop inspected by a forensic company. Orginally they did not know what the five emails I sent myself were about. Now they do. I believe they have hacked my Icloud account. What are the forensic limitations of Metadata & Exif Data+ Adobe Photoshop 3 question; e.g. Metadata

I have some questions regarding metadata, and exif data on digital cameras and its forensic limitations in Adobe photoshop 3;
For instance; After a picture is taken and has a metadata/exif digital stamp of the "picture being taken day" under what circumstances can that "picture being taken day" be changed?
Does the picture being taken day change when you import it into adobe photoshop 3 and add a caption?
Does it change only when the picture is edited, to perhaps add a white sidebar that says "family photo" or whatever?
Under what circumstances does the exif/metadata digital time stamp of the "picture being taken day" change?
Also, is it possible to change the picture being taken day on a photograph in adobe photoshop 3 manually?

I guess it would be easier to give you an example. The above picture shows the exif data as 9.11.2001. How is this possible if this is a 911 victim? In the top metadata, it says Adobe photoshop 3. I assume this is the program it was last edited in? Or was adobe software used exclusively in cameras back then perhaps? I am not sure, I just know I have many questions I really want answers to. Was the exif data changed perhaps in the above photo on 9.11.2001 to add that white sidebar, which says (Family photo) ?? Click the image below to see the screenshot of what I am looking at, this way we are on the same page or picture so to speak.

Any way to access ddimage forensic images?

Hi - I've been given a series of drives that supposedly contain images of a bunch of Mac HD's. The drives all contain folders and files named like this:

qla51ddimage.001
qla51ddimage.002

qla51ddimage.029
Each drive has two to five such folders on it, and each folder contains around 5 to 150 or so sequentially numbered documents. Hours of Googling have told me that these are ddimage forensic images, and I've downloaded and/or bought several Windows and Mac utilities that can supposedly access these, but so far no luck. Does anyone have any experience with this, and can you suggest a way that I can mount these images to see what's in them? Ideally I'd like to copy all the files in these images to an NFS that I have here. Thanks for any help.

Hacker on my system...... HELP !!!!

Ok, long story but some other members in my family are going through rough times and getting divorced, they were together for quite some time but the husband isn't happy, he had used confidential material in court which was only in our email accounts, we set up a trap to try and catch him, we made a fake website and put a statcounter on it, we got his IP with a referring link coming from one of our email accounts, we warned him not to do it again or we would get the police involved. The other day we set up another trap using whatstheirip.com and emailed the link given to our email accounts, when someone clicks on the link it comes up ERROR but actually catches their IP and emails it to a secure account, he clicked the link but was on his mobile and as it was from a mobile in London we were unable to prove it was him, we set up another trap (i know it gets confusing) on this mac which we thought was secure, another website with another statcounter but i was watching TV last night and checked the statcounter only to find a Mac using safari had accessed the website on my network using my IP, i am completely confused! I checked my history and i wasn't even on the computer at this time, i need help,
What is going on? Is this a coinscidence or enough evidence to get me worried he might be on my system?
How do i catch him?
How do i find the keylogger / spyware if there is one?

The more your using the machine, the more evidence your destroying and the less creditability it has in court.
They are going to ask that and why you didn't immediately turn off the machine and talk to your lawyer or the police.
Your not qualified as a computer forensic investigator and your just making their job almost impossible.
Figuring all this out on your own is impossible, let the professionals handle it.

Help needed: triggering a combo box selection

I'm new to creating forms in Acrobat (Acrobat 9 on Mac). I'm trying to create a form for my department where a student selects a faculty name from a combo box, and once the value is selected, another field is filled with an int value (course section number).
Question: what is the correct trigger for executing the javascript for this? Mouse up seems to trigger too early and the others don't seem appropriate.
I think my rudimentary JavaScript knowledge can get me far enough to check the value and the use a switch/if to prefill the int value in the other field, so the correct trigger is my current issue.

I found where it's supposed to be stored, but I'm having some issues with missing (). I'm using Acrobat X Pro for Windows Vista. Help fixing underwater "tin room" sound

Hi Folks, I'm hoping you can help me.
One of my instructors recorded a full e-Learning class on a Blue Yeti. Later, we found that the microphone was having issues. The problem is she put a couple of days of work into it.
Here's a WAV snippet
It has a very underwater "tin room" sound to it. I'm wondering if anyone can offer advice to make it sound... well, passable. It doesn't have to be perfect.
I have a little bit of experience with sound programs, but am still a beginner, so please take it easy on me.
Any help would be super appreciated.

Hmm... you need to look very carefully at the settings, I'd say. And get people to check the output quality of the recordings they make before proceeding too far with them...

Won't be a sound card issue, because the Yeti doesn't use it - it's a USB mic that does its own digitising, and provides a stream that can be recorded directly. There's no other way it can work. And anyway, listening to the actual mic sound reveals that it's not actually a faulty digitisation - it's too clean behind all of that noise for that to be the problem.
I am hearing correctly that you guys feel like there is no helping this file, though, right?
That's certainly the case with the file as presented, and if there really is no unprocessed version then that's what you are stuck with, yes.
If you are just going to do mic recordings, you'd be better served by doing them directly into Audition anyway - it simply can't make that sort of mess of a recording, quite deliberately. This is because it complies with standard industry practice, which is always to record dry whenever possible.
Sorry if this is perhaps a little forensic, but that's the way it is!

That one's from a book. I used that code to start with my applet. Mine calls different merthod from the switch cases. Say I have:

Help my safari doesnt open and gives me a crash report

help my safari doesn't open and gives me a crash report ever since i downloaded a file from the internet. I have a macbook air (early 2014) with running os x yosemite version 10.10.1

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
if it's not already checked.

Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter is not working. Please Help...

I bought an Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter to connect my Macbook to a TV using normal video cable. When I connect the cable, my Laptop DIsplay gives a flickr once and then it shows nothing. I checked Display in the system preference where I don't get a secondary monitor option. My TV is panasonic and it's an old one. I work on Final Cut Pro and it's very very important to see my videos on a TV. What am I doing wrong with the connection? Anyone Please Please help...

Your probably not doing anything wrong. There are thousands of users with Similar issues and it seems to be with many different adapters.
We have Mini DP to VGA (3 different brands) and they all fail most of the time. This seems more prevalent with LCD Projectors. I've tested some (50+) with VGA Monitor (HP) and they all worked, LCD Projector (Epson, Hitachi, and Sanyo) and they all fail, DLP Projector (Sanyo) and one worked.
My Apple Mini DP to DVi works most of the time. My Mini DP to HDMI (Generic non Apple) works every time.
The general consensus is that Apple broke something in the OS around 10.6.4 or 10.6.5 and its not yet fixed. As we are a school we have logged a case with the EDU Support group so will see what happens.
