Help in e-mailing a resume

Question

I wish to e-mail my resume to PC users. I have it in Appleworks 6.2.9 using Optima typeface - also with indents, etc. I would like to be able, for presentation purposes, to send it this way. Is this possible or do I need to convert it to another Windows compatible font, like Times, and get rid of the indents, etc.?? Basically I'd like to know what is the best way to send it so that the settings will remain - or, if this is not possible, how to send it so it can be viewed & read on a PC? I sent several versions (text, Word 95, Word 2000, & a .pdf) to one party and the only one they could open was the text version - where the copy ran horizontally across their screen - impossible to decipher. Any help appreciated! Jasmin

I don't know much about PCs, but it seems to me the person who was unable to open anything but a plain text version hasn't been updating his/her own software in quite a while. The MS Word and PDF options should work on most PCs that are reasonably up to date. If you encounter a potential employer who is working with 10-year-old software, that's not your fault. In those cases, why not just print and fax your resume?
On the other hand, have you noted that Mail provides a check-box for sending "Windows friendly" attachments? Make sure you select that box when sending resumes as attachments to your emails. It might solve the problem in many cases.
