Help in Editing notes on the score

This notes thing is cool but editing seems difficult. I must be missing some short cuts. I can play thru the midi and the notes show up. I'd like to tweak them and shift them because what shows as the fourth beat in one measure should be the first beat in the new measure. If I move the quarter note it converts the others notes to shorter terms to squeeze them in . Then some times it creates rests. I wish I could delete the rests. I wish I could move the measure bars. I try to drag the notes as suggested to turn a quarter into a half but nothing happens when I want. Some times it does sometimes it does nothing. I need to make three quarter notes into a triplet so that the three quarters only show count as two beats. I see the option for 3 on the right click but can't get it to apply to the notes. Nothing on these issues in helps that I can find. Anyone have counsel here? Thanks, CraigT

You shouldn't edit the notes in the notes view, but in the piano roll view - much more control over the onset and duration of every note. Plus you can set different grids to align your notes to. Then you can go back to the notation view to see the results. However, you wont have any control about how GB displays the notes - like if you have eighth notes followed by an eighth rest, they will be displayed as quarter notes. Which makes sense most of the time, but sometimes not.

How do you draw a simple tie in the score editor window of Logic Pro 10 ; two quarter notes together, an eighth up-beat accross a bar line into the next measure etc? I can't find the answer in videos, help manual. Please give a step by step how to do it.
It's hard to believe that a program like Logic, that has more information than the New York Public Library, does not have a simple solution for tieing notes. Maybe Logic XI will have one, or "Logicians" can speak to Sibelius for a more "note-worthy" way to solving the problem so that the score editor can be more accessible for editing purposes for those that read and write manuscript. Ties are generally automatically created as necessary. Simply adjust the length of the note in the Score (using DurationBars or the Inspector), or in the Piano Roll or Event list.

Is it possible to change the length of a note in the score editor?

I thought I saw somewhere that it was now possible to adjust the length of a note in the score editor graphically, i.e. by clicking on the note and somehow adjust its length directly to change it from 1/4 note to 1/8 (for example).
I don't want to do this by going over to the "Length" dialog on the left because I hate having to switch from thinking in terms of music notation and then having to think (temporarily) in MIDI ticks per beat, etc.
I must admit that I'm finding it extremely frustrating to simply enter music into Logic in a score....I thought this was supposed to be one of its strengths but it seems to be providing amazing capabilities at the expense of ease of use for beginners.

greetings dh... are you into Key Commands? There are two which will help you do the above in a trice:
• Nudge Region/Event Length Right by SMPTE Frame
• Nudge Region/Event Length Left by SMPTE Frame
I set mine to the simple letter o and n
- I click on a note and press o repeatedly.. it grows and grows longer and longer
– I click on a note and press n repeatedly.. it shrinks and shrinks shorter and shorter
All by little increments
If you keep a Piano Roll window open while you do this, you can see the length do this exactly
man, it is VERY quick and handy for changing the length of notes
It really helps to have a view of the midi Piano Roll to cross check the exact length and position of the notes.
Check out the Key Commands:
• Set Next Higher division
• Set Next lower division
These change the note value in the transport bar near the time signature. Your time signature may be 4/4 but the "grid" on which the notes are appear in the Piano Roll could be displayed in quarter, 8th or 16th notes. If you experiment with these commands, then you can match the note lengths easily to the grid display visually (with the above nudge length commands)
Also - you may like to experiment with the following 3 KEY Key Commands:
1 • Nudge Region/Event Position Right by Nudge Value
2 • Nudge Region/Event Position Left by Nudge Value
This will move your selected notes forward in time or back in time according to the
value that is set in the Transport bar - say it is 16ths .. then each press of the key will move the notes a 16th
or if the value is 8th notes, then each press of the key forward or backwards will move the selected notes forward or back by this amount
... amazingly useful when you are taking a whole phrase and pasting it somewhere else, or if say you started to write a phrase in the Score Editor and you started on the wrong beat.. then you just Nudge back and forth
3 • Set Nudge Value to Division
.. this will in a trice change change the Nudge Value to whatever Note division value is set in the Transport bar

Logic prox will crash when editing notes in the editor.

as im editing the veocity on single notes in the editor it will crash after some edits.
does reinstalling help with some isues?

Same thing happened to me a few days back. I closed Logic, removed the Preferences files (listed below), and then ran the Logic Setup Assistant. All is well now.
Here are the files I removed:
com.apple.logic.pro
com.apple.logic.pro.cs
com.apple.logic.pro.plist
com.apple.logic.SetupAssistant.standard.plst
LogicProject7
plus the folder:
Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences/Logic/PM Data
All of these were found in:
Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences
or
Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences/Logic
I am not sure I needed to remove all of these, but I did. Maybe someone else can ring in with a list of the exact files one should remove.

It can't be done on the iPad using iPhoto for iOS. You need to use iPhoto for the Mac.

Help: error: can not find the main class!

when I run the class, the following error message comes up:

and also a dialogue window (title is "java virtual machine launcher") comes up: could not find the main class, program will exit! After I click ok button, another error message shows up: Exception in thread "main" .

I need help with putting notes on the ipod nano!!!!... HELP!!!...

I have no clue how to even go about putting notes on the ipod nano but i allways get lost!!! I just got it and i need some big time help !!!

1 - Ok, to put notes onto your nano, you'll first need to enable it for disk mode. When it's plugged in, go into iTunes, and open up iPod preferences. Check the "Enable disk use" box.
2 - In your Windoze file browser (what you click on files in), locate your iPod, which should be located in My Computer. Open that up, and locate the notes folder. That is where you can put any notes, in the form of text files, that you want.
3 - Make the notes. iPods only recognize plain text and html files. So, when you open the text file up in a word processor, make sure to save it as a plain text file (.txt extension). Then, just drag it onto your iPod.
In disk mode, your iPod will need to be ejected before you unplug it from your computer. Right click on it (in your My Computer folder) and click "Eject"

Need Help! "Could not locate the resource file in the Configuration folder."

I had just purchased and installed Adobe Crerative Design Suite last night. Every program works except Dreamweaver, which gives me the error message:"Could not locate the resource file in the Configuration folder. This File is required to run Dreamweaver. Please reinstall the application". I am suspicious because the was a previous version of Dreamweaver on the computer before this installation, but I unistalled it. I do not understand why I get this message. Is there a file somewhere that is missing or at faut. How can I remedy this? Thanks

Your posted resources worked for me. Thank you! After many attempts (to include Adobe's overseas call canter) to resolve the same installation and run errors, I used your suggested steps and I finally have a clean and running install. I did have to take a few extra steps;
First I downloaded both Cleaning scripts. For CS4 & CS3.
Next I downloaded Windows installer/cleaner. I have Windows Vista Home Premium and that is a required installed program to run Adobe's cleaning script.
Once I was sure I had all the programs/scripts I needed (per your instructions and the instructions found on the Cleaning scripts site) I disconnected my computer from the Internet.
Then I disabled all running programs especially all Anti-virus and firewall programs and any others that have calls of any kind: i.e. Boinc (Seti), Skype, email programs (Windows Live Mail), etc.
Next I uninstalled all CS4 products and even though I was told that Macromedia Studio MX 2004 can stay installed (read that on one site and the overseas Tech also reinforced that information) I uninstalled MX 2004.
I then rebooted and installed the Windows installer/cleaner program and ran the Adobe CS4 cleaner script twice.
After another reboot I installed Dreamweaver CS4 first, rebooted (can't reboot enough with Windows!) and, yes you guessed it, rebooted.
I then attempted to open Dreamweaver CS4 and for the first time it ran without the error!
I then installed Adobe Ps CS4 and rebooted and that work for the first time as well.
I can't say for sure if Macromedia Studio MX 2004 caused the install errors on the Adobe products but without it and ALL that uninstalling and rebooting and running cleaning scripts and installing and rebooting, Adobe finally felt my computer was clean enough to call it home and work.
Thank you again for your information and I suggest if anyone else finds their way here that they follow your instructions to the letter. Takes a long time but a proper and clean install will be the result.

Entering sixteenth notes on the score

I'm trying to enter some notes in the middle of a song that I've made. I have an empty staff in which I would like to enter some sixteenth notes but I'm only able to enter eighth notes. The program forces me to enter eighth notes. I really don't know how to do...

How are you trying to do this (there are several methods)?
A) Select the 1/16 note in the PartBox and use the pencil tool (or drag onto the stave)
B) Use MIDI Step input: First enable the Red MIDI IN button, then select the 1/16 note in the Part Box
C) Use Options:Step Input Keyboard
D) Use MID Step Input and the Step Input keyboard together.

Help: OJSPC can not compile the JSP with struts tag

Hi,
I am trying to precompile the JSP page with EAR package but OJSPC can not parse the Struts tags.
I always get oracle.jsp.parse.JspParseException:
Error: org.apache.struts.taglib.html.MessgesTei while reading TLD /WEB-INF/tld/struts-html.tld
My OC4J version is 10.1.3.2 and I did tried putting the struts-taglib.jar to /opt/oracle/product/app10g/j2ee/home/jsp/lib or /lib/taglib
but still do not work.
Can anyone tell me how to configure the OJSPC and let it support customerized taglibs?

This is a new problem with jdk1.4 when compiling with tomcat.
The solution is to ensure that any classes in WEB-INF/classes are in a package structure and the relevant jsp calls the same using the package name.

From the message in parenthesis, I believe that the package you are trying to run is invalid. Try to compile the package and execute the package again.

After editing, not seeing the photo

I use iPhoto 5.0.4; I have about 5200 photos in my library.
I'm having issues with seeing an image after cropping the photo (down to 4 x 6) in Edit mode. In the following scenario:
Crop/edipt photo -> click the Next arrow -> see "Saving Changes" -> go back to the photo
Though I can still see the thumbnail, I see nothing but blank white, and can no longer see the image in Edit mode. This seems to be happening when I try to edit images that have been uploaded with large "rolls".
Any feedback?

There is a damaged file or files at this point and this is causing the crash.
This is not an issue with your RAM is a corrupted Library database.
If rebuilding with iPhoto Library Manager won't work then you need to restore from your Back Up. IF you don't have one follow the instructions in this article for Manually Rebuilding a v5 library:
