Help in format templates
hello everyone!
I need help with a fool thing: I have troubles trying to change format of a template. I created a template and then i used it as permanent workbook, and then when i execute a query in BEx, the title of the query appears with a format I dont expect. I tried to change it (color, font..) but i cant see changes when i run the query again.
Can anybody help me with it and tell me the steps to change the format correctly?
thanks in advance
Regards.
Christian

Workbook Format -Template?
Hi Guys..maybe a stupid question.. but how exactly are the workbooks used ? Eg: I have a company template on top, with fonts and stuff in sheet1. Does that look replicate in all of my sheets in that workbook ? When I try to insert another query in sheet2, I don't have that template in sheet2 but only in Sheet1. Is that how it should be or the look should be replicated in all the sheets when I insert query ? Please advise. Also, are there any sample workbook templates available anywhere ? That will be pretty helpful.
ThanksHi BBM,
You can do the different kinds of formatting in your workbook with the help of the Format button on the Bex toolbar. Do not use the excel formats for the Bex celss as these options can be overwritten when the results are refreshed from the server. Put your cursor on the cell you wish to format and then click Format and make changes are required. Bex works on the concept of format templates, so any cells that bearrhe same Bex style will be affected by the changes. This is where it differs from Excel formatting which can be cell by cell. To see the style assigned to the current cell, in the Excel menu Format > Style. Here can see values like SAPBEXchaText etc, depending on the cell selected. So eg. if this cell is made Bold, then all cell with the style SAPBEXchaText will become Bold. You can play around and see what suits your need the best.
Hope this helps... -
Different format template for each amount column?
Greetings.
Is it possible to assign diffrent format template for each amount column in Excel workbooks?
I'll explain a bit more specific.
Suppose there's a BW report to Excel as below.
column1 column2 column3
row1 111,111 222,222 333,333
row2 111,111 222,222 333,333
row3 111,111 222,222 333,333
All columns are amounts, so the assigned format templates are all 'SAPBEXstdData'. Here, the needs is that each column have the format of their own, such as 'Centered, large font size, bold, red color, etc'.
I found out in SAP help portal that I can create workbook templates which include custom format templates, such as OurColumn1Template. I also found I can use the workbook templates when opening BW queries. But it doesn't seem possible to automatically specify format template OurColumn1Template is for column1 when creating a new Excel report from BW query or refreshing a query from a Excel report.
How I can control which format template is assigned for which column? No way?
By the way, we are on BW3.5.
Thank you,
T.YamagiwaOh my, I found out! It's easy, in a sense.
We use MS Office 2003, so in the first place we need to change security setting about macro, by the SAP note below.
Note 574596 - BEXAnalyzer SAPBEXOnRefresh is missing on Office XP
https://websmp110.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=01100107900000000342&_EVENT=REDIR&_NNUM=574596&_NLANG=E
Now that we've got SAPBEXOnRefresh module in a newly created Excel workbook, the rest we need to do is copy the SAPBEXOnRefresh module to the existing workbook, then code the module, like below. (this is only doing left-justification)
Sub SAPBEXonRefresh(queryID As String, resultArea As Range)
Columns("I:I").Select
With Selection
.HorizontalAlignment = xlLeft
End With
End Sub
I should have search the forum more carefully...hope somebody will find this post kind of useful in the future.

Edited by: Lucy Discover on Jul 7, 2011 1:05 PMYour syntax is wrong - look at the post above where this syntax is given:
to_char (add_months(r.formdate,12), 'MM/DD/YYYY') "formdate2"Look at the formula from a logical perspective - "inside out" to read what is happening -
take formdate, add 12 months
add_months(r.formdate, 12)then apply the to_char format mask - basic syntax
to_char(date, 'MM/DD/YYYY')Compare to your syntax:
to_char(add_months(r.formdate, 'MM/DD/YYYY'),12) "formdate2"You will see your format string inside the call to add_months, and your 12 inside the call to to_char.
Good luck! -

Please help on Format Mask...
Hi everyone,
I have few question regarding to Format Mask:
1) I know that if u key-in the invalid format
(ie: format: dd-mm-yyyy and I key-in 35/21/2001_
Oracle will display the error message at the Status bar of the
Form, can I make this error message to displayed as a popup
msg (like alert) automatically? Or I need to do a checking on
the error code in ON-ERROR trigger than SHOW_ALERT()?
2) How to make a Format Mask that will format this:
60312345678 format to (603)1234-5678
6031234567 format to (603)1234-567
I tried this format mask "("999")"999"-"999, it worked for the
first one but the second one it came out as below:
6031234567 formated to (60)3123-4567
Is there a way to overcome this?
Thank You
Regards
Wai Chong1.I ussually use on-error trigger at form level and check for
the error code and use show_alert built in accordingly.
2.Have you tried adding, if I am not mistaken, FM (fill) mode.
It will theoretically accept anything that you type. You can
look on the builder help on format mask topic. Or have you
tried adding the space after the region code. This is pure
speculation but you might want to try.
Hope it help. -
Is there an APA format template for pages?
I am trying to find an APA format template for pages? Does one exist?
I do believe there is at least one user-contributed one at iWork Community. Also, you could open any Word template in Pages. You might need to change the file extension from .dot to .doc for Pages to recognize it.

Need help in formatting a number field with same precision for excel output
I am trying to get the same preciision for a field in RTF template when the output is in EXCEL
i.e. same number of digits after decimal. So, I would like to show 150 as 150.00 and 123.2 as 123.20 etc !! Is there a way to do it. the Built in formatting will not display 150.00 for 150 . but if i add $ symbol it will display. But i dont need $ syambol. please help.I found this on one of the forum questions.
Excel dont preserve the trailing zeros.
try opening the xcel and type 5.0000 and tab out, it wont preserve the trailing zeros after decimal.
try finding out how to disable the option in excel. if you do that, you will see what you send out from the report.
But you can try to convert the number into a text by trying to append a space at the beginning. See if that would work.
Thanks

Need some beginner help on formatting and images
Just getting started with ID so am going through the learning process and could use a little help getting past some of the road bumps.
Are ID character and paragraph styles similar in use and effect as those in Word? In other words, are there important differences in when to use text styles and paragraph styles? Do they cascade? Did I make a mistake by setting up two styles, one character and one paragraph, and applying them to a paragraph? Is there a good practice anywhere where you don't use a paragraph style to set character styling but instead use a character style and a paragraph style together?
Get the idea? I'm looking for sort of an ID styling 101.
Thanks in advance
TomNo Style is not a style. It is a lack of style. It exists in the list of
styles because there has to be something there to choose from when you
choose to base a style on nothing, or when you want to *not* apply a
paragraph style to a paragraph. When you don't want any style, you want
no style (hence the name). The only time I deliberately apply No Style
to a paragraph is when I want to "lock down" the formatting so that it
won't change if I change a style (because No Style has no definition to
change).
Basic Paragraph is a special style that can't be deleted from the list
of styles. For my books, I like to make a text style, give it a name
like "text", and then base everything on that. As far as I can tell, the
danger in basing everything on Basic Paragraph is simply that you may
have it defined differently in another document and if you copy material
from one document to another, everything will change (because everything
is based on Basic Paragraph and Basic Paragraph is defined differently).
Again, as far as I can tell, this is no different than having two
documents, both basing everything on a style called "text" and defining
"text" differently in those two documents. Either way, if you copy
styled text from one document to another, you may see changes if the
style exists in both documents and is defined differently.
Your particular workflow depends mostly on the people you're working
with. It's certainly possible to set up a Word template containing all
the styles your writers will need and then tell them to use them. Then
you won't have to do anything except Place the Word file. My experience,
though, is that 99% of Word users don't even know styles exist, so this
may require some education...
In my workflow, I almost always get Word files after they've been
written (and usually formatted to death). I Place Word files, keeping
formatting, and then search and replace the formatting that I want to
keep for styles and then select all and Clear Overrides. This way I get
to keep the author's hard work but dump all the garbage the author
introduced.

First observation, is that your internal hard disk has too much on it - on an
80gb internal hard disk, you want to keep 10% available for system usage,
which would be 8gb vs the 3 and change gb available shown in your
posted information above.
See if I got this right...you have an external powered enclosure with a WD
250gb ultra ata hard drive that has worked before on your PB. Snap,
crackle, pop, power goes, and the HD is corrupted. Your PowerBook,
however, still recognizes the external HD as a device, right? You tried
hooking into a Windows-based system, and couldn't access anything.
Assuming your PB recognizes it as a hard drive, have you brought up the
Apple disk utility and tried to repair the drive (select external hard drive
on left side of disk utility, then first aid tab, repair disk)? Results? -
Need help in formating a form dealing with negative currency
Need Help!!!
Creating forms in Adobe acrobat Pro I could format a number cell to calculate additions/subtractions of currency. If the result was negative I could get the cell to show the negative result in red text and show parentheses around them. How can I do that in LiveCycle?
If i have to use formcalc - what would i type in?In LiveCycle can be done using the Numeric Field object and some formcalc script.
Use the "Numeric Field" from the Object Library. For the Field patterns (Select the placed numeric field, On object Window Object -> Field) use "num.currency{}" to show the currency(Ex: $) and "parentheses" if its negative. Write some script to show red text/border in red .
On exit event of the Numeric Field here is the script:
if($.rawValue <0) then $.font.fill.color.value = "255,0,0" endif // This will make entire text in red color if the value is negative.
if($.rawValue <0) then $.validate.nullTest = "error" endif //This will make border of the field in red color if the value is negative.
Hope this helps. -
Help needed-Survey template data not flowing from CRM to Mobile & V V
Hi experts,
We have a requirement to create a custom survey template and pass it to mobile. The data flow should be to and fro. as in; from CRM to Mobile Application and vice versa.
Currently we are facing an issue in this that the data if not being passed properly from the CRM TO Moblie.
As i am new to the middleware concepts, i am not sure how to go about analysing if my data in the BDocs for the survey template if correct or not. Some data is present for the survey in the Bdoc(xml), but i am not sure if this xml value is correct or not as the Bdoc table entry (xml value)seems to have been truncated(i cannot view the entire xml there wen i try to open the BDoc fields in SMW01).
any pointers to this is highly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
I had created a template with 2 charts. In One chart I am using the query from the infocube1 and in the other chart I am using the query from the infocube2.
When I am running this template, values for 0CALMONTH in the F4 help is displaying from 03.1995 to 03.2005 (These values are not exists in any of my cube). But when I am attaching the queries from the same cube it is displaying the values only which are in the infocube.
In SPRO, I found the above values in the following settings :
IMG->SAP NetWeaver->SAP Business Information Warehouse->Reporting-relevant Settings->General Reporting Settings in Busines Explorer->Set F4 Help and Hierarchies for Time Characteristics/OLAP Settings.
Can anyone please advise if template takes the values from the above setting if the queries are selected from multiple cubes ? or in what scenarios it takes the values from the above settings.
Thanks
Ramesh.Ramesh,
that is provided for you to create / activate hierarchies for calmonth and other time variables , I do not think it will solve your issue , try setting properties of calmonth to posted valu8es in the BEx tab in RSA1.

Need help with creating template. Changes are not going through to index.html page
Hi all,
I have an issue with my template that I am creating and also a question about creating template Regions (Repeating and Editable).
Somehow my changes to my index.dwt are not changing my index.html page.
Also my other question is: For my top navigation bar and left navigation bar links, do I need to select and define each individual button or link as Repeating/Editable Region? or can I just select the whole navigation bar (the one on the top) etc...
Below are my steps for creating my template...I am kinda fairly new to using DW and this is my first attempt to making a template following the DW tutorial CD that came with DW CS3.
I appreciate any help with this...regards, Dano
-Open my index.html file
-File/save as template
-Save
-update links - yes
-Select Repeating and Editable Regions (I selected the whole top navigation bar and selected Repeating Region and Editable Region, same with the left side navigation links)
-File close all
-Open the index.dwt
-Save as and selected the index.html and chose to overide it..
When I make changes to my index.dwt it is not changing the index.html
I feel that I am missing some important steps here.....
