HELP in Masking TextField!!!

If a text field Datatype is DateTime
and masking to HH24:MI:SS,
then how i assign a default value(any time)
to the text field by hard coded.

Help - Simple mask not working in Flash CS4

Hi everyone,
Thanks for taking a minute to read my post.
I am creating a very simple mask using motion tweening. I created some text on a layer and made it a masked layer. Then I created a mask layer which consists of a circle that will span across the text. When I play the movie the circle does not show up at all in the frames the mask layer spans (it's purple on a black background) and the circle does not move across the text like I told it to with the motion tweening. I don't know why it's not working. For some reason the circle isn't showing on the stage at all and it's not moving across the text. I don't know if I have it set up wrong on the timeline or what. Here's the steps I followed to create the mask:
1.insert a new layer in which I named it mask and click frame 1 on this layer
2. select the oval tools on the tools panel and set the stroke to none
3. set the fill color to purple
4. draw a circle and click the selection tool and drag a marquee around the circle to select it.
5. click insert on the menu bar, click motion tween then click ok in dialog box about converting it to a symbol to be tweened
6. click the last frame in the mask layer and drag the circle to the end of the line of text
7.click mask on the timeline to select the mask layer, click modify on the menu bar, point to timeline then click layer properties
8. verify the show check box is selected in the name section, click the lock check box to select it, click the mask option button in he type section, then click ok.
9. play the movie in which the circle object covers the text on the masked layer as it moves across the stage

Update 8-2-10: In play mode the text was still visible when it shouldn't be but once I tested the movie the mask worked correctly with the text. So problem solved

Thanks for all who viewed this. I finally figured out why it wasn't working. I had the mask layer locked. But now the circle is moving across the text but the text is viewable when it shouldn't be until the circle moves across it. How come it's doing this?

Need help with masking a time-lapse animation

Hi all,
I'm working on a time-lapse project where I have taken 240 shots of a highway heading into my city, and have erased the cars from the shot, creating the look of an "empty city". This will be one of many sequences like this.
I got the highway background plate perfect, no cars, and I threw that into my AE comp (CS6), along with the 240 images as a JPEG sequence. I've layered the background plate on top of the image sequence and used a mask to "hide" the cars from the highway.
The problem is, some of the cars are taller than the roadway (trucks, busses, etc), so they push into the upper part of the frame where the motion is supposed to happen. If I extend the mask upward, you can see a literal bisection between the still plate and the animated JPEGs. If I just move the mask path to hide cars as they go by, the moving mask becomes VERY obvious in the exported QuickTime.
I've attached a still of my setup and a short video for explanation. If anyone can help me salvage this shot, I'd be very grateful. I do NOT want to have to erase out the tops of the cars in every photo I took

Yes, Ross definitely doesn't share a lot of how-to, mainly just erasing objects and layering in After Effects. How he deals with problems/challenges isn't covered, so that's my learning curve.
The zooms are easy, you can do that in post if you shoot high enough resolution. The pans were done on a pocket dolly using a remote device that automatically tracked the camera across the scene over time. Couple hundred bucks to rent one, but too advanced for me at this point. I'm more concerned with getting stable, usable shots.

Help wih masking

I need help with a masking problem.
When i try and mask a new line, as shown in the flash video
bellow, the previous masking layer will over mask the new line. How
can i stop this from happening and is their an easier way to do
this. I have never used flash before so open for any suggestions.
(The flash animation purpose is to scribble out the bar code) Also
just pay attention to the 3 lines being drawn in the first part of
the video nothing else, i just didnt clean the swf up before i
posted.

For the amount of masking you appear to be doing, there may
be an easier way, without them. It still involves frame to frame
animation. What I have done in the past for "handwriting" effects
is to take the finished thing and copy it to the next frame and
remove a small piece, then copy that to the next frame and remove a
piece from it....and so on, until you remove the last bit of it.
Then all you need to do is reverse the frames and it will appear as
though it is being drawn/written.

Help! Masking techniques for Photoshop

I am relatively new to Photoshop CS2 but I've used other apps before. My question is - if I have a photo with a figure dressed in black on a light background, what is the besttechnique to use if I want to cut the figure out and put her in a backgroun of another colour, maybe a darker colour?
There are 2 issues here:
(1) How to create a near-perfect mask around the figure? I tried using the magic wand, it's very very close but there are one or two places that I am not happy about, such as around the face where the colour value of the face is close to the colour value of the wall.
(2) Since she is on a light baclground to begin with, wearing a black jacket, I get a halo when I put her on a darker background. How can I mask out something like this, and be able to put the figure onto any colour background without the halo effect?

Have you tried Extract? Or the Pen? Or Quickmask? These are all ways to make a selection which might be better than what the Wand gives you, or that can be added or subtracted from the Magic Wand selection.
If you have a rough mask you can zoom in and edit it until it fits perfectly. Look at the Channels palette. The mask will be there. You can turn on its visibility while the rest of the image is visible for instance. Masks and Channels are only grayscale images and can be manipulated as such.

HELP! My TextField is freaking out...

I'm creating a command-based client where i have a textfield for handling input. Now, i'm having a problem with handling TextField events (or something in that way)... I want to be able to type in commands, but i should also be able to use the numpad keys for calling some other methods that i bind to them.... now, everything works well, the methods are called when i press the numpad keys (i use a keyListener). The problem however is that after the numpad keys have been pressed and the appropriate methods have been called the keyPressed event(or whatever it is) seems to be passed on to the textfield, so the number is printed in the textfield... i dont want the number to be printed, only the method to be called... anyone got an idea? Stop the event from being forwarded or something??? (it is really nessecary for the the textfield to be in focus, since i should be able to type commands or press the numpad shortcuts at any time)... help!

Help needed in textfield

Now my problem is when i click on field1 the focus has to go to field1 and similar to all. And as soon as mouse placed in field1(Textarea) it has to become bold and underlined.(Somthing like anchor tag in html)

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

Need help with masking & applying the keyframes to other layers

I am trying to achieve this effect: Dropbox - Maroondah 2040 Animation.mp4 with the below vector graphic.
I'm unsure the best way to go about masking it. At the moment I have split each shape (left & right sides) in half and mask it as too pieces see example - Dropbox - Comp 2 RAM.mov
Is there an easier / better way to go about it?
Ideally I would like to import each shape as a path from illustrator, and apply the gradient over the 5 stages as another mask. Is this possible?
Also, once I created the animated ( stage one ) what is the most efficient way of apply the masks the remaining 5 stages?
Any tips or guidance would be appreciated.

There is no getting around splitting your artwork into sections where the gradient overlaps.
If it were my project I would not be converting illustrator artwork to shape layers, but would instead create all of the pieces and Illustrator instead of After Effects. I would also create in Illustrator grayscale copies of all the shapes using a black to white gradient. These copies would be placed directly over each of the illustrator layers. I would then import the AI file as a composition and use gradient wipe or luma matte with animated opacity to reveal each part the design.

Depends on what look you want and how it needs to interact with otehr stuff. Would be easy enough to animate some masks and then create all the shading. Will just take a lot of layers. And of course there's a million ways to include anything from CC Mr. Mercury to other particle systems to fancy it up.

A simple Fractal Noise with non-uniform scale, animated offset and high contrast.

HELP no mask option (Premiere 7.2.2)

the ellipse and rectangle mask options for my filters is no longer appearing. It was there, then I did something stupid (uninstall reinstall update, etc) and now it's not working.
OSX 10.10
2x2.4 GHz 6-core intel Xeon

Are you talking about masking and tracking with bezier mask or just the rectangle and ellipse? Bezier masks is a feature of Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1). The rectangle and ellipse are features of Premiere Pro CC 2014 (8.0). Masking and tracking did not exist before 8.0, so that is probably why you do not see them in 7.2.2.
If you update Premiere Pro, you should get those features back.

Masking help

I am designing my personal website and need some help with
masking. I know how to do the masking and get it to turn out the
way i want. The problem i am having is:
Each page of my site has a animation for it. I want to be
able to have a backout animation for each page.
i can't figure out how to get it to play the back out
animation before it plays the next intro animation. and im not sure
how to get flash to check which page the site is on so it knows
which animations to play.

I would do this by placing a key to the new page in a
variable. For the
key, you can use the name of the new section, or a keyword or
a number,
if you like. Then, when a user selects a new page to move to,
store this
key in a variable, then parse out which backout animation you
want to
use, possibly with a switch/case statement.
If your new page is not directly connected to the backout
animation,
then you can use that stored key to then move to/play the new
page at
the end of the backout animation.

Help to get rid of background noise in GB3 when recording voice on Sony mic

I am recording my voice into GB3 using a Sony ECM-MS907 condenser microphone connected to the line-in input on my iMac (core duo 20"). I use basic vocals with no effects.
My voice records fine but there is a background noise underneath which I can't seem to get rid of. It is also present if I use the built in microphone. I don't think it is room noise as it is pretty constant throughout.
I have added a backing track which helps to mask it but this is not really satisfactory.
Any ideas how I can record without this apparent interference?

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
Classically USB microphones do not work with Premiere Elements (any version) for use with its Narration Tool. Have you found otherwise?
Where is the noise - in narration clips produced by the Narration Tool or from imported audio files added to numbered Audio Tracks and/or soundtrack?
From what you wrote, it appears that the audio noises are confined to the narration being produced with your microphone and Premiere Elements Narration Tool. Is that correct?
Under fx Effects there are audio effects that you can explore to reduce noise. See Reference Effects Adobe document for a description of the fx Effects audio effects.

If you use the same microphone and create your narration in Audacity and import that narration into a Premiere Elements project, do you get noise in your narration?

Besides making sure that your microphone is compatible with Premiere Elements, have you evaluated your narration recording techniques...how close are you to the microphone, room noise level while recording, etc.

Masking multiple layers to achieve some effects

Hi,
I understand (at least a little) about how masking works. As far as I see it reveals layer underneath it.
What I am wondering if there is some ways to reveals different(multiple layers) layers or masking is done only on one layer.
I have searched and some pages suggest it is possible to mask multiple layers but it doesnt actually show any examples or step by step tutorials.
Any help would be appreciated,
