Help in practical learning
I'm begginer in Java2. I got books to study but they don't include practical exercises or assignments. I find it easy to work through the topics if you do some practical work. Where can I find materials to study that include all of this? Thanks in advance.
I use the book "Java in a Nutshell" and I also bought the "Examples" Book.
You can also try out the online sun tutorials, they are good.

ASHOK VANHi Ashok,
The SAP online help is a good source to start with.
For portal concepts and overview you can start with the link below:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a4/76bd3b57743b09e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
For EP development, you can start by accessing the online help for EP developers. This is a part of the portal documentation.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/19/4554426dd13555e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
There are also e-learning sessions on EP at SDN at the following link:

Can someone help me in learning how to make business cards using pages
can someone please help me in learning how to make business cards using pages
You could jump start the process with an Avery MS Word 8-up business card template as a free download. Either version of Pages will digest it nicely. Once you load it into Pages, do a File > Save As Template.. , add it to Chooser, and give it your name choice. Both versions of Pages will remove the printer registration marks in all four template corners. The free LibreOffice Writer retains them.

Help need to learn how to do this?
1. Name, which has fields:
- String lastname
- String firstname
2. Address, which has fields:
- int stnum
- String street
- String city
- String postalCode
3. PassengerRecord, which has fields:
- int passengerID
- Name passengerName
- Address passengerAddr
4. Passengers, which has fields:
- int numpassengers
- PassengerRecord[] passRecords
5. TrainStation, which has fields:
- String trainStationName
- Address trainStationAddr
- Passengers passengerRecs
The main routine, in class MainClass, MUST look like this:
public static void main(String[] args){
TrainStation station = new TrainStation();
station.readIn();
System.out.printf("station=%s",station.toString());
}//main
which creates an instance of class TrainStation,
then calls the readIn() function of that TrainStation object which will:
1. read in the trainStationName, which is a String
2. read in the trainStationAddr, by calling trainStationAddr.readIn()
3. read in passengerRecs, by calling passengerRecs.readIn() which
reads in the number of PassengerRecord objects and
creates the array passRecords.
Then, passengerRecs.readIn() calls readIn() on each
passenger record in array passRecords, which will
in turn read in the passengerID,
and call passengerName.readIn(), and passengerAddr.readIn()
After calling station.readIn(), main will print out all of
the contents of the TrainStation object pointed to by printing
station.toString().can someone help me learn this fast like any places where i can read and learn how to do this?javakingloww wrote:

Help needed in learning the basics of Java Smart Card and implementation?
Hello every body,
I am trying to develop the applications on java contactless smart cards technology.
Can any body give me the details like how to start?
What are the required softwares and installation procedure and path settings and etc.?
I am the beginner in java smart card application development.
plz help me outDear Friend,
I would advice to divide learning into two main parts: JavaCard technology and contactless RFID cards. For JavaCard technology you can find useful articles on Sun web-site (developers.sun.com/mobility/javacard/articles/javacard1/). For contactless RFID you can find few useful books at Amazon. Regarding software you need JC development kit. How to install it there is an instrunction in JCDK user guide.
If it is not a secret what a javacard contactless card you are going to use in your work?

Help: Best Practice Baseline Package experience
All,
Can I ask for some feedback from folks who've used the Best Practice Baseline package before - I'm in a project implementing ECC 6.0 and we're planning to use this package to quickly set up and demo the system to the business. I've limited experience in config and system setup so your advice is much appreciated
Specifically my questions:
1. Has anyone used the package for a similar purpose (quick setup to demo to business)? Does it save a lot of time or should our team just configure the system manually? Are there pitfalls I should be aware of?
2. I understand a limited amount of config / master data customisation can be done and there's even a wizard. Is it effective and error-free - i.e., will I be better off by installing the base package and make changes later manually ?
3. Assuming after the demo we have firmed business requirements, which approach would be faster and easier? Configuring from scratch vs. using existing BP baseline then doing delta configuration?
4. Does the documentation tell me exactly what was configured and the settings used?
Appreciate any help and insight you can offer, thanks!!Dear Jin,

Plz help me in learning webdynpro
hi experts
i m an abaper nd want to learn webdynpro
plz guide me hw i can learn it asa fast as possible
plz giv me som links for documentation of webdynpro
thanx in advanceHi
Web Dynpro ABAP
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/db22242d-0701-0010-28a2-aeaa1fefd706
Hope that the following also helps you.
Web Dynpro for ABAP (WD4A, WDA) is the SAP standard UI technology for developing Web
applications in the ABAP environment. It consists of a runtime environment and a graphical
development environment with special Web Dynpro tools that are integrated in the ABAP
Workbench (SE80).
Web Dynpro offers the following advantages for application developers:
? The use of declarative and graphical tools significantly reduces the implementation
effort
? Web Dynpro supports a structured design process
? Strict separation between layout and business data
? Reuse and better maintainability by using components
? The layout and navigation is easily changed using the Web Dynpro tools
? Stateful applications are supported that is, if the page is changed and the required
data remains intact so that you can access it at any time throughout the entire
application context.
Note that stateless applications are not possible.
? Automatic data transport using data binding
? Automatic input check
? Automatic operation of the Web Dynpro application using the keyboard
? User interface accessibility is supported
? Full integration in the reliable ABAP development environment
Web Dynpro Architecture
Definition
Web Dynpro is the SAP NetWeaver programming model for user interfaces (UIs).
The Web Dynpro model is based on the Model View Controller paradigm, and has the
following features that build on the classic dynpro model:
? Clear separation of business logic and display logic
? Uniform metamodel for all types of user interfaces
? Execution on a number of client platforms.
? Extensive platform independence of interfaces
Structure
Metamodel Concept
Web Dynpro provides support for developing Web representation of a business application.
You use specific tools to describe the properties of a Web Dynpro application in the form of
Web Dynpro metadata. The necessary source code is then generated automatically and
executed at runtime. In addition to the events offered by the framework, you can also define
your own events for a Web Dynpro application. However, the event handling must always be
programmed in separate source code areas which are executed automatically when the event
is triggered at runtime.
In Web Dynpro, each user interface is always made up of the same basic elements. These
elements of the metamodel can be statically declared using Web Dynpro tools.
It is also possible to implement elements of the metamodel at runtime and to change them or
reintegrate them at runtime. Using these implementations, you can make any changes or
enhancements to a user interface that has been created by declarative methods by
generating new interface structures at runtime.
This means that you can combine declarative processes and the implementation of source
code.
Graphical Development Tools
To support this declarative concept, both the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio and the
ABAP Workbench contain a range of Web Dynpro tools. You can therefore generate a large
proportion of a Web Dynpro application using the tools provided, without having to create your
own source code. This applies to the following parts of the application:
? Data flow between the front end and back end
? Layout of the user interface
? Properties of user interface elements
The Web Dynpro tools enable you to create source text areas manually within generated
source texts. These areas are not changed if the source code is regenerated.
Separation of Business and Application Logic
Using Web Dynpro enables a clear separation of business logic and display logic. A Web
Dynpro application runs on the front end and has local or remote access to the back end
system via a service. This means that the display logic is contained in the Web Dynpro
application, while the business logic and the persistence of the business objects run in the
back end system. The following options are currently available for connecting Web Dynpro
applications and the back-end system:
? An interface generated using adaptive RFC, through which BAPIs of an SAP system
can be called
? An interface for calling Web services
? A self-generated interface
The source code required for connecting the Web Dynpro application can be generated
from a UML definition of the Web Dynpro interface. A UML definition can be imported
into the Web Dynpro tools as an XML file.
Conversion of the Model-View-Controller
Conversion of the Model-View-Controller Programming Model
Every Web Dynpro application is structured according to the Model View Controller
programming model:
? The model forms the interface to the back end system and thus enables the
Web Dynpro application access to data.
? The view is responsible for the representation of the data in the browser.
? The controller lies between the view and the model. The controller formats
the model data to be displayed in the view, processes the user entries made by the
user, and returns them to the model.

Practice ( learn ) workflow at office on my system?
Hi Workflow masters,
this is the first time am ENTERING into WORLD of WORKFLOW...where i have been looking for.
i am a ABAP programmer where i have been doing it for 5years am ABAP CIRTIFIED...and now i want to LEARN : WF.
at my office we have workflow...and my query is...
can i practice the workflow on it...if i do will i cause any problems to it?
i went through your forums and i have enough INFO to learn WF - self ....but once i start will i be causing any problems?
i have a linke which is : Workflows for Dummies - Introduction(Part I) & (partII) if i follow this will it cause any problems?
can i have some info with regards to it...
i am going through a SAP METERIAL which is : BIT601.
I hope this is the right material to start...looking forward to your replies...
thank you,
pasala.Hi,
You are on the right track. There are lots of tutorials in SDN & Internet - just spend some time on searching them. BIT601 is also fine for learning, but I think that you cannot do all the exercises since the require some custom objects, which you won't have in your system.
You will not break anything, if you don't modify the existing workflows. So just create new workflows from scratch, or copy the existing ones and modify the copies - the same rules apply as for example as with any ABAP object. => Do not modify anything, unless you are sure what you are doing.

[Help] I wanna learn Sessions
Hello ,
I wanna learn about session ,
I wanna know how to show a "heelo $user" when user login
and show or hide things depend on the user's access level .
Can anyone tell me where to start, please ?
Thanks..I choose to assume you are asking how to do this with PHP. If I've guessed wrong, do reply with more information.
I wanna learn about session ,
See Session Handling in the PHP Manual
http://us.php.net/manual/en/book.session.php
I wanna know how to show a "heelo $user" when user login
See echo http://us.php.net/manual/en/function.echo.php
Or print() http://us.php.net/manual/en/function.print.php
and show or hide things depend on the user's access level .
Now you're probably going to require login and database features. DW does have some built-in server behaviors that can help with this, but there is some preparation to do. Here is one of the DW support pages:
