Help in retrieving my contacts

Hi,
I was using a BB Curve 8530 that had a keypad (unlock) password. For some reason I have forgotten my password. I have already attempted 9 times with the wrong password. Now the handset does not allow me to try any more passwords and is asking me to type 'blackberry'. My understanding is that if I do so; then all my data on my handset will be wiped. Is there any way I retrieve my contacts?
Unfortunately I had never taken a back up.
I will be using a Blackberry Curve 9360 going forward.
Regards
Krish

Hello krishkumar007
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
You have to remember the device password that you already set on your device otherwise after 10 wrong attempts ( By default ) you device will initiate a wipe process as a security measure , it will delete all user data within that device . If you don't have backup or not using BlackBerry protect then I doubt you'll be able to recover your data .
Are you sure you entering the correct password on your BlackBerry keyboard ?  I think you might have a mixture of different characters in your password, and you are not able to properly enter those on the BlackBerry  keyboard. For example , if your password is
krish007
And you enter k  > r > i > s > h > 0 >0 > 7
 the actual result will be
krish00z
You must enter
k > r > i > s > h > 0 > 0 > alt > 7
to get krish007 on your device. So, while on the BlackBerry  keyboard you think you are typing krish007, you are actually typing krish00z . Plaese take your time and enter those figure correctly on your device to stop a wipe . If you fail then your device will wipe and you have to start all over again from the start.
Good luck.

Have you tried toggling contacts off and back on again? Anything trickle in, thereafter?
If not, restore from your iCloud backup. Go to settings/general/reset/ erase all content and settings. When prompted on how to setup the device, select the iCloud backup : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4859

    Hi,
Did you ever back up your phone on the computer?
Did you use photo stream at all?
May I suggest changing your passcode lock to a letters and numbers lock (if not all ready it will make your iphone more secure and a restore lock otion shouldent be needed). Then change your setting as well preventing restore after ten incorect passwords.

  • [Nokia 6020] Need help retrieving phone contacts

    Hi all,
My Nokia 6020's screen is cracked, but the phone powers up properly and I can make/ and receive calls. I no longer wish to use the phone, but want to retrieve the contacts stored in the phone memory.
Option 1) Tried connecting the phone using a brand new, official Nokia CA-42 USB-Serial cable on Windows XP and followed the proper procedure to install the driver (ie, install before plugging in the cable, restart etc), but the PC Suite doesn't detect the phone. Updated to the latest PC suite but it still doesn't detect the phone. Is there any other options I can try out on the PC? Are there any settings that I might have to change on my phone?
Edit: I also tried Mobile Master and Oxygen Phone Manager, but they're not able to detect my phone.
Option 2) Copy all the contacts from phone memory to the sim card. As I cannot see the screen, I have no idea how to do this so would be grateful if someone can guide me through this process.
    Thanks for your time.

make sure your phone is fully charged after doing this...
    turn off your phone
    remove and reinsert the battery
press call key(the green one), number 3, and * key altogether and pressit wile turning on the phone.
if the phone starts, don't release it yet...

  • How can I retrieve my contacts and pictures after installing iOS6 on my iphone?

How can I retrieve my contacts and pictures after installing iOS6 on my iphone? Don't call me stupid! I was relying on iCloud to have backed all this up, but turns out it didn't work. Can anyone help me get my photos back - they were of my baby daughter. Also, I've lost all my contacts. Please help.

Unfortunately no. The only way the phone backs up is if you make it back up. You either connect to iTunes and backup and sync, or you set it up for a wifi sync to iCloud. But you have to setup iCloud to start with. You have learned a hard lesson on how to make sure you import pictures on a regular basis like you would the digital camera. When things happen to the phone, this is the media that is lost the most (pictures in camera roll). After taking a number of pictures, and especially ones you consider important, you should connect the phone to the computer and import them, so there is a backup copy on the computer.
Contacts are saved in the backup as well, however they are really designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer, or backed up to iCloud or other cloud service. And, the only way to go back in time on the phone is to restore from a backup, but you also have to remember, you would lose everything on the phone that you had done since that backup, so it is a double edged sword.

You should have been syncing them with your computer regularly.

Ps. My contacts was the ONLY data NOT sync'd to my iTunes! =(

You can import TO a SIM. To import, if you look at the button in settings says Import SIM Contacts. That means it is importing, or moving the contacts FROM the SIM to the iPhone. Importing means to take something from the area you are selecting and moving it to the current area, in other words, as others have told you, you imported what was ON the SIM card and since the iPhone does not store ANY information on the SIM, you imported NOTHING to a place that had something.
The way you save and backup contacts on an iPhone is to sync them through iTunes to a supported application on a computer such as Address Book on a Mac, Outlook or Windows Contacts on a Windows machine. If you did not do that prior to the Import attempt, then you will not be able to recover them.

  • HT4890 Is it possible to retrieve deleted contacts from a former backup?

I am trying to retrieve deleted contacts, but I do not see them in my iCloud account. Is there any way to retrieve them? Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple communities.
iCloud data is not part of your iCloud backup, therefore restoring your phone will not help recover your deleted contacts.
If your iCloud contacts are synced with your computer, then you can recover any deleted contacts from the backup you keep of your computer. Unfortunately if you do not sync your iCloud contacts to a computer or you do not keep a backup of the computer you will be unable to recover them.

  • Can i retrieve my contacts on my stolen iphone?

is there any one who can help me to retrieve my contacts on my stolen iphone? it got stolen and i just wanted my contacts. is there any way i can retrieve this from my itunes backup without having to connect my iphone via usb? please help!

    hi
unofrtunatly not - itunes encrypts its back up file so that it can only be read by the itunes application for data protection reasons - hence the only way you can retrieve them is by restoring your back up from your pc with your copy of itunes onto an iphone. the only way you will retrieve them is if you had itunes sync'd with a 3rd party like outlook which would have backed them up to there instead.

  • Hello, I need help to retrieve deleted information to partition an external hard drive. What should I do?

Hello, I need help to retrieve deleted information to partition an external hard drive. What should I do?

I'm not about the question, and giving you the right answer requires me to ask a few more questions.
Do you want to retrieve deleted information for future usage, or to completely delete a partition? The latter is straightforward: simply erase the partition. The former is more complicated: it's very difficult, even using available commercial software, to recover deleted information. If the data is important, you may want to contact a professional like DriveSavers. It won't be cheap.

  • Retrieve All Contacts

I have the iphone 3g and need some help with retrieving all my contacts.
I have had several backups for the phone, and within each time frame i have added several new contacts. However if i restore to the old back up the contacts do not appear.
How can i have all my contacts/text messages/calendar events all the time??

    Welcome to the discussions,
Make sure all contact info is synced from your computer to your iphone. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup. A manual backup will be performed and all info will be copied to your computer. See what else is saved in a backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Every backup you make will overwrite the old one, this may be one reason why your contacts etc. where incomplete.
Depending on your OS you could back up the backup folder to be sure not to lose the info.
    On a Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    On Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    On Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

Please explain that more fully..."retrieve", to where please? And by what means, please? What exact steps do you take? What are the exact results of each step? Are there any error messages presented?
The sole use of BB Protect is to restore your data to another BB device using the exact same BBID.
    Thanks and let us know!

  • Please help me retrieve my security questions answer. I forgot my security questions answer.

Please help me retrieve my security questions answer. I forgot my security questions answer.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then see if this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then try Apple ID Account Security
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset, and if you don't already have a rescue email address,  you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312

Bad mistake. You shouldn't have used your Apple ID on his phone. And you made it worse because now the contacts are gone, as you deleted them from your phone, they got deleted on iCloud. Your husband should have his Apple ID.
There is really no way of recovering the deleted contacts unless you backed up using iTunes and even then you will only be able to recover those contacts that were on a call list. Read here:
