Help in song name database problem

I had a bad internet connection for awhile while importing songs from cds. The cd song name databse didn't find the tracks or recognize the cd then, but now that it is working, any cd I tried at the time is now evidently permanently taggeed. Is there a way to undo that, or force another lookup? Normally I would just type in the tarcks, but these are unfortunaley a bunch of 30 track various artists cds I am having the problem with. Any way to do this? Thanks, Bill

Never mind. I figured it out. The advanced menu- get track names. Thanks

  • Domino Gateway names database problem

I have configured a domino gateway resource, the value I put in the parameter of the names database is namesidm_test.nsf, because I want to create a user in namesidm_test.nsf, not in names.nsf.
Anyway the users are created in the names.nsf database, not in the namesidm_test.nsf database, where I really need them.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
I have advanced a step more, the problem seems I am using a names database called "namesidm_test1.nsf", not the "names.nsf".
My user have all permissions in namesidm_test1.nsf but not in names.nsf
I have configured the Domino Gateway connector to use the namesidm_test1.nsf, not the names.nsf, but it is not working.
    Any ideas???
    Thanks a lot.

  • Problem with song names

Hey, I'm having this problem with song names. For example, instead of the song title being "Song Title" it will be like "Artist Name - Song Title". It's like this for half my files. I'm trying to organize my music files and every time I fix it, it keeps going back.
This has happened to me before and usually if I double click it, it will automatically change. This time, nothing seems to work except doing it manually ("Get Info)" and that would take too long since I have 7,000 files like this. I posted this on another board and somebody said to right click the songs and click Update ID3 v2.4 which originally worked, but now nothing but manually doing it works.
This is like this when I open it for other programs, but I know iTunes caused. I think it has something to do with the "Keep my iTunes Folder Organized" check because iTunes renames the file. I also tried reinstalling itunes and readding my files.
    Thanks for any help!

I don't completely understand what you are trying to say, but iTunes doesn't automatically change your tag information.
iTunes stores a copy of the tag information in the library database. When you play a track, iTunes re-reads the tag information from the song file and updates the library data. This produces the efferct that iTunes appears to change tag information but it isn't, it is meerly reflecting a change that already happend.
Do you have any other software on your PC that can automatically change tag information? For example Windows Media player can do it if you select an option to retrieve data from the internet and overwrite existing info. But other software may do it too.
If you want to force iTunes to re-read all tags, go to your Music view and go to Edit>>Select All. Then right click in the selection and choose Get Info. Don't change anything, just exit by clicking OK. iTunes will update the library with the tag information from the song files.

  • ITunes/iPod nano & chinese song names [please help]

i own an iPod nano 4gb.
first question is is there a setting i can choose (either in iTunes or the iPod nano itself) to make the on-screen iPod nano text appear larger than the default? anyone that has chinese songs with chinese characters will notice that the font as compared to english text is relatively lighter (not as bold). hence, it is harder to read.
second question concerns chinese music. all my songs are chinese and the song names, artist names, album names etc are in chinese characters. those files that appear with chinese characters by default on Windows appear fine on the iPod nano as well. however, most of my songs require a program called NJStar Communicator (www.njstar.com) to display the chinese characters - those that have chinese music should know what i'm talking about. without NJStar, the names just appear as random symbols in Windows. the problem is, all of the songs that require NJStar appear on the iPod nano as symbols despite the fact that they appear as chinese characters on iTunes when NJStar is turned ON. when NJStar is turned OFF, the names are just displayed as symbols on iTunes. irregardless of whether i update my iPod nano when NJStar is on or off, the names remain as symbols on the iPod nano and i was just wondering if anyone knows how i can fix this or perhaps it's just tough cookies XD
    any information is much appreciated,
    many thanks.

first question is is there a setting i can choose
(either in iTunes or the iPod nano itself) to make
the on-screen iPod nano text appear larger than the
    default?
    No.
    however, most
of my songs require a program called NJStar
Communicator (www.njstar.com) to display the chinese
    characters -
I think NJStar uses an encoding which is not compatible with iTunes or iPod. You need to convert the ID3 tags of the songs that require NJStar to display correctly to Unicode. I have heard that ConvertZ is a program that might help do this.

  • TS1424 I keep getting the message (song name) was not copied to IPod Ipod because it cannot be played on this ipod.  Could someone tell me what this means?  I have never had this problem.

Hi, I have been trying to down load some music to my Ipod.  I keep getting the message: (Song name) was not copied to IPod IPod because it cannot be played on this I pod.
Can anybody help?  I have never had this problem before.

Is it something about "I Shot the Sheriff" that my iPod has a moral disagreement with? It had no issue importing and installing Body Count's "Kop Killa"...
    Not really likely, is it?
First of all, look on the iPod to see if the song is actually on there. (The last Sync of my Classic resulted in "song not copied... because it cannot be found." The song had previously been on the iPod. I checked and despite the fact that iTunes could not find the file, the song was still on my iPod. I checked the folder and the song was exactly where t was supposed to be. So I simply set iTunes to find it again. What happened? I don't know, iTunes simply threw a wobbly!)
Second, try another Sync. Does this change anything? If the song was on the iPod, does a second Sync remove the message?  If the song was not on the iPod after the first Sync, does the second one put it on there?
    What happens?

  • Importing song name problem =(

I am having a problem when i import new cd's onto itunes. Whenever i put the cd into the drive, the cd is recognized but the song names are all wrong i.e. they will be from the last cd i imported. Any suggestions as to how i can fix this

One quick question: Are you able to see the song files in explorer view in My Computer?
Hi, and just know, this is my first post.
My problem is kind of weird. I have a song that was
in a WMV format, I believe, when I was first going to
save it, but I changed it to WAV and MP3. I tried to
import both into iTunes, but to no avail. What I
mean is that I've tried to drag both songs, impoprt
the songs song by song, and import the folder. I get
through the bar at the top, but I don't find the
song. What's happening? Please, I beg of you, help
    me! Thank you.

  • "The song '[song name]' could not be used"??  Help

I just recently loaded iTunes on my wife's WinXP account and everything was working fine. She has not even loaded it up yet to listen to some music and I already have a problem.
When I went to sync this morning I got the message "The song '[song name]' could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to located it?"
The music has not moved. It has always remained in the same shared folder for the last year, but now it suddenly can't find some of my music. I looked on the drive and it is still there, but iTunes does not see it.
I've looked around on the message boards and this seems to be a common problem, but nobody has an answer that I have found.
    Please help.

Did you even do what I said to? Try to play one of your grayed-out songs, and iTunes will ask you to locate the file. Then point iTunes to where the file is. (Use Spotlight to find the file beforehand.)

-OyA specific ORACLE_HOME holds the binaries for a specific version of Oracle. You don't upgrade by simply installing a newer version of Oracle into the ORACLE_HOME of an older version. If you tried to do that you have probably irreversibly corrupted the original installation.

  • Consolidation files problem - iTunes changes song name

I upgraded Library to iTunes Medial Organization. Now, every time when I consolidate a file into iTunes library and click to play the file right away, iTunes will cut off a part of the song name and replace a letter "O" at the end. It happened once to change all the song names in the same playlist, however I unable to pinpoint how did it happen.

Sounds like Windows Media Player is "fixing" the info in the ID3 tags for you.
When you play it in iTunes, it will update the library to match the ID3 tags, which is why it looks like iTunes is doing it.
In WMP, Tools -> Options -> Library.
Uncheck *Automatic media information updates for files*.
Any songs that WMP already messed with, you will need to add the info back.

  • TS5181 My iTunes Radio doesn't show song name please help

My iTunes Radio doesn't show  song name what can I do

I suspect that the encoding of the Korean in the stream is not Unicode, which is what iTunes requires. iTunes cannot fix such things by itself.

  • I can no longer play my music from iTunes on my computer.  i get the error prompt: The song (name) could not be used because the original file could not be found.  What do I do?

not sure what to add other than to repeat myself.  ive lost ability to play music from my iTunes library on my computer.  Everything is there but i get an error message that says '"The song (name) could not be found.  Would you like to locate it?   Then it gives me the option to locate or cancel.  i can't do that for 3800 songs!!  i have all my music in separate folders by album and all individual selections in an external hard drive.  i can play from there but thats clicking on one number at a time.  i lost my capability in the process of Microsoft correcting a problem with my outlook program.  Why, i haven't a clue.   help!!

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • "Error occurred while converting the file "song name."

While trying to import 3 different CD's into iTunes, the message "Error occurred while converting the file "song name. The required folder cannot be found." The song name is the first song of each of the CD's I tried to import. Have imported over 3,000 songs and never had this happen before. Help?

I think I found out why this happens. I am using an external hard drive, not sure if this is relevant, but I believe so. I went into iTunes and deleted the songs, and asked that they be deleted from the library as well. Got same message when I tried to re-import. Went on to the external hard drive, where library is located, and none of the songs had been deleted. Deleted the songs, as well as the albums folder, re-imported, no problems. Hope that helps.
