Help in strategy for Migrating to MPLS from PRN cloud Same provider

Dear,
We are planning to migrate to MPLS from PRN using same provider, I have about 12 sites to migrate, new circuits have been provisioned and new routers are ready to be shipped to each site for installation.
Now, I am facing a dilemma, briefly speaking with provider they tell me that we can migrate a site a time no problem here, then next day they tell me it needs to be a hot cut over migration how can this be? so going back and forth and tayloring routers configurations I literally stopped, would like ask for assistance and your opinion on how to go about such migration to tentatively lock into a solid strategy.
Any documents out there you can point me to or experience in such migration will be appreciated.
All of our sites currently connect to PRN cloud including HQ, running OSPF multiple areas, at a glance I was thinking the provider would somehow bridge the two clouds so that I could build a parallel infrastructure and migrate branch offices one at a time but I am still unclear on how to proceed, I will be speaking with the provider more extensively in the next few days but any guidance will be appreciated.
Best Regards

Henry, thanks for those links and help.
Would like to share what I have done which seems so far to be working properly, so that if any one comes accross they get an idea.
It turned out our RPN/MPLS provider cannot or don't want to somehow cross connect the two clouds, so I was forced to do the cross connect at my end begining with two sites, I have setup what I had in mind, for each of the two targeted sites I have installed a new 3845 router with new DS3 link to MPLS cloud and created a cross connect to a 6509_switch_router that is connected under the PRN infrastructure. The 3845 was configured as a virtual link for ospf, all good here so far the 3845 joing ospf domain and received routing table from from PRN side. The next site had also new router and new circuit for the MPLS side, at this second site I brough down the router connecting to PRN cloud then brought up the new 2811 router which I had preconfigured under the same ospf domain and received routing table from the 3845 router DS3 MPLS link. We will let it run for a week to allow to troubleshoot or spod any issues before proceeding to migrate more sites.

    You need to copy your input and output file stores from the old server to the new server. By default these are located in the <Business Objects install path>\FileStore directory.
    Then you need to stop the CMS, Right click the CMS,Click the Configuration tab, and then click Specify.
    Choose Copy, then click OK.
    Choose the version information for the source CMS database.
    Select the database type for the source CMS database, and then specify
    its database information (including host name, user name, and password).
    Select the database type for the destination CMS database, and then
    specify its database information (including host name, user name, and
    password).
    When the CMS database has finished copying, click OK.
    Once this process has been completed start the CMS and click on update objects -> located on the top of the CCM.
    I'd advise taking full backups beforehand.

  • Best strategy for migrating GL 6 DW CS4?

    First I gotta say that -- as decade-long user of several Adobe products -- Adobe has really screwed over long-time users of Adobe Golive. After a week of messing around with something that should be a slam dunk (considering the substatial amount of $ I've paid to Adobe over the years for multiple copies of GoLive 5, 6 and CS2), I can tell you Adobe's GL > DW migration utility ONLY works for sites created FROM SCRATCH in GL CS2 (they must have the web-content, web-data folder structure). This means that Adobe's migration utility only works for maybe 10% - 15% of the GoLive sites out there, and about 10% - 15% of Adobe's loyal GoLive customers, and it particularly screws over Adobe's longtime GoLive customers. Sweet! ( (Just like Adobe screwed over users of PhotoStyler -- which was a better image editor than PhotoShop, BTW.) Obviously, I would walk away from Adobe and make sure I never ever paid them another cent, but the Republican-Democrat "free market economy" has made sure I don't have that option.
    So I've gotta make Dreamweaver work, which means I've gotta migrate several large sites (the biggest has 5,000 static pages and is about 2 gigs in size) from GoLive 6 (or GoLive CS2 with the older folder structure) to Dreamweaver CS4.
    Which brings me to my question -- what's the best strategy for doing ths? Adobe's migration utility is a bad joke, so here's the alternative, real world plan I've come up with. I'd apreciate any suggestions or comments...
    1) create copies of all my GL components in the content folders for my GL site (not in the GoLIve components folder)
    2) replace the content of all GoLive compnents (in the GoLive components folder) with unque character strings, so that instead of a header with images and text, my old header would look something like xxxyyyzzz9
    3) create a new folder called astoni in the root of my hard drive. Copy all my GoLIve web site content (HTML, images, SWF, etc.) into astoni in exactly the structure it was in with GL
    4) create a new Dreamweaver site by defining astoni as the local location for my site, astoni\images as the location for images, etc.
    5) use Dreamweaver and open the newly defined astoni site. Then open each of the GoLive components I copied into a content level folder in astoni, and drag each into the Dreamweaver Assets/Library pane, in order to create library items just like my old GoLive components
    6) use Dreamweaver to Search & Replace out the unique text strings like xxxyyyzzz9 with the content of my new DW library items
    7) refresh site view to make all the links hook up...
    Thanks for your help. Hope this discussion helps others too...

    Instead of ragging on people who are familiar with DW and Site Development, you should be gracious and accept the practical advice you've been given.  A "best strategy" would be to read some tutorials and learn how to work with HTML, CSS and server-side technologies. Without some basic code skills, you're going to find DW an uphill, if not impossible battle.
    Frankly, I don't have free time to hand-hold someone through the excruciating process of migrating a 5,000 page static site from GoLive  to DW. And I doubt anyone else in this forum has either.  We're not Adobe employees.  We don't get paid to participate here.  We are all product users JUST LIKE YOU.
    I'm sorry you're frustrated.  I'm also sorry for your clients. But the problem you have now isn't Adobe's fault. It's yours for not keeping up with server-side technologies or handing-off these huge static sites to more capable web developers.  I'm not saying you need to buy anyone's books, but they are good resources for people willing to learn new things.
    That said, maybe you should stick with GoLive.  The software doesn't have an expiration date on it and will continue working long into the future.  If you're happy using GL, keep using it to maintain your legacy sites. At the same time learn X/HTML, CSS & PHP or ASP.  Use DW CS4 for the creation of new projects.

  • Beginner's Guide for migrating an application from WLS6.1 to 10

    Hi,
    I am new to Bea WLS and need migrate an application from WLS 6.1 to 10. Right now I am trying to reconfigure the deployment descriptors but as I am new to this I don't really know where to start.
    Has sw. did the same or knows good resources / documentation about that issue?
    Help woud be really apreciated.
    Kind regards

    Looks like a good candidate for TheDailyWTF...
    The error happens when the username is an empty string (""), likely the SQL query isn't returning any results. Have you tested this with users that are set up in the database? Are you able to connect to the SQL instance?
    As an aside, I suggest you change the sa password for your SQL Server instance now that you've published the password. Or better still create a dedicated SQL Login for this application or use Windows authentication.

  • Tools for migrating data (documents) from MS SQL to Oracle

    Hi,
    Please let me know if there any tools available for migrating documents from one database like MS SQL to Oracle. Currently our documents are stored in MS SQL and we are planning to implement KM for document management with Oracle as the database.
    Regards,
    Suresh

    The old manual style still works - create the scripts for the migration objects, then use search & replace to rename the schema for all affected objects and finally run the SQL script to create them in the Oracle database.

  • Import Wizard vs LCM for Migration of BO from one server to another

    Hi Experts,
    Can anyone highlight the differences between Import Wizard and LCM (in terms of migrating/deploying BO from one server to another)?
    We are currently using BO XI 3.0, which does not support LCM. I'd like to know if LCM has enough advantages to justify an upgrade to BO XI 3.1.
    Any advice is much appreciated.
    Linda

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks a lot for your reply. May I have a follow-up question?
    For my client, the following deployment activities are necessary:
    1) From Development server, to one Test server containing 2 separate sets of objects - one set for SIT, the other set for UAT.
    Object (Connections, Universes, Webi reports) names in Test server will be different from those in Development Server due to the existence of 2 sets of objects on the same server.
       a) For SIT: Universe A on Development server -> Universe SA on Test server
       b) For UAT: Universe A on development server -> Universe UA on Test server
    2) From Development server, to Training server.
       Same object names will be used in Training server.
       E.g. Universe A in Development server copied to Universe A in Training Server
    3) From Development server, to Production server
       Same object names used in Production server.
    From the above, there will be 4 rounds of deployment. Is Import Wizard sufficient? Or is LCM still the better option?
    Thanks in advance for your advice.

  • User Exit For VA01 To Restrict From Entering The Same Material twice

    Hello All,
    I have a requirement that in sales order creation(VA01) i want to restrict From entering the same material
    more than once in a sales order  i.e more than one same material not allowed in sales order i have tried alot of user exists but of no use
    can u tell me the exact user exit
    Regard's,
    Mahesh Dasari

    Hi Mahesh Dasari,
    1.This user exit is used to add additional datat to VBAP struture like custom fields. And this user exit is called for every single line item when processed.Say you have 10 items then this user exit will be triggered before each entry is populated in the XVBAP.
    2.When the user enters item 10 with material 1 we allow him, then for the next line item say 20 we check if the material entered or processed ( this will be available in VBAP structure ) is available in XVBAP and  the line item 10 is not deleted.
    3. If the above check  true then it means that the material entered is already existing else its not so it will proceed to next line item
    e.g. in your question , item 10- Mat1 , item-20- Mat12, item-90-Mat1,
    Then as per the code I have given , item 90 will be deleted or removed.
    4. Now you can either delete the line item by clearing VBAP as I have done or give a error message  that will be as per your requirement.
    Use the logic I have provided in my earlier post , and see the behaviour.
    Hope you find this answer helpful and set this questions answerd

  • Regarding Batch Jobs for migration of data from client DB to our local DB

    Hi Folks,
    GoodDay, Previously I worked as a Oracle Developer and recently shifted into a BIG organisation as PL?SQL developer. Here my base work is with INTERFACES(Stored Procedure). That is retrieving data from client DB and need to put the data in our staging tables. For that i created 2 INTERFACES(stored procedures). One is for one time migration. No need to run on regular basis. The second one is to run regularly why because if any updations are done in client DB that should be replicate to our DB. For that we need to run a BATCH JOB regulary 24X7 basis.
    But i dont have any working knowledge on BATCH JOB creation and running. Please let me guide on this issue ASAP.
    Regards,
    Ramesh.

    You can try
    dbms_job(9i)
    or
    dbms_scheduler(10g)
    just out of curiosity.. tell me if you are interested...
    what you were doing as a "oracle developer" ( is it like writing only "sql" )...

  • Best practice for migrating eLearning data from Sol Mgr 3 to 4?

    Dear All,
    This is Priya.
    We are using ODI 11.1.1.6 version.
    In my ODI project, we have separate installations for Dev, Test and Prod. i.e. Master repositories are not common between all the three. Now my code is ready in dev. Test environment is just installed with ODI and Master and Work repositories are created. Thats it
    Now, I need to know and understand what is the simple & best way to import the code from Dev and migrate it to test environment. Can some one brief the same as a step by step procedure in 5-6 lines? If this is the 1st time you are moving to QA, better export/import complete work repositories. If it is not the 1st time then create scenario of specific packages and export/import them to QA. In case of scenario you need not to bother about model/datastores. keep in mind that the logical schema name should be same in QA as used in your DEV.
    Some questions on current state.
    1. Do the id's of master and work repositories in Dev and Test need to be the same?It should be different.
    2. I usually see in export file a repository id with 999 and fail to understand what it is exactly. None of my master or work repositories are named with that id.It is required to ensure object uniqueness across several work repositories. For more understanding you can refer
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/integrate.1111/e12643/export_import.htm
    http://odiexperts.com/odi-internal-id/
    3. Logical Architecture objects and context do not have an export option. What is the suitable alternative for this?If you are exporting topology then you will get the logical connection and context details. If you are not exporting topology then you need to manually create context and other physical connection/logical connection.

  • Utility for migrating Domain Definitions from Oracle Designer to JHeadstart

    Hi,
    I am currently involved in the migration of a pretty substantial application, developed with Oracle Designer’s Web Server Generator, to the Oracle ADF technology stack, using JHeadstart. You know I am a big fan of JHeadstart for a number of reasons, but this particular application is ideally suited for JHeadstart (or I should say the other way round of course). JHeadstart and ADF can do everything Web PL/SQL Toolkit and the Web Server Generator can do - and much, much more. So both end users and developers of this application stand to gain from the migration.
    However , due to special technical limitations in the Web Server Generators and the inventive hand-crafted work-arounds, I can use the JHeadstart Designer Generator migration tool only for th 60% really simple maintenance modules. The other 40% is better off with building from scratch.
    There is one piece of information in Oracle Designer that is quite useful to me - that is the Domain Definitions. The sets of allowable values that power the dropdownlists and radio groups is needed in JHeadstart’s Application Definition file, and the current edition of the JHeadstart Designer Generator does not allow the migration of Domains (only complete modules are supported).
    In this article: http://technology.amis.nl/blog/?p=1352 is describe a way to migrate a selected set of domain definitions from Oracle Designer to JHeadstart. This approach works for all releases of JHeadstart - from the early beginnings back in 2002 to the latest 10.1.3 release.
    best regards,
    Lucas

    Probably better to ask / confirm this on the Warehouse Builder forum, but ....
    I believe that OWB will always indicate a default value for NotNull columns. It might also do this for value-constrained columns (one where you have set Allowable Values directly for the column or for a domain associated to the column). In a normal situation, most column definitions are NullAllowed, but if you're doing some simple test runs and have nothing but key columns and some rudimentary data columns then you might have inadvertantly caused this situation.
    hope this helps

  • Help! Advice for restoring photo library from an external hard drive

    Here's the deal. My house was broken into today, and my desktop iMac was stolen, but I still have my external hard drive where I saved photo albums and my iPhoto library. I want to transfer that iPhoto library (from iPhoto 4) onto my MacBook Pro that has iPhoto 6. What is the proper way to install my old photo library and albums onto the laptop with the later version of iPhoto?
    Thanks for the help in advance.

    Lori
    Sorry to hear of your difficulties.
    Simply copy the iPhoto Library Folder from the back up to the Pictures Folder on the MBP and launch iPhoto. It will do the rest.
    Alternatively, you can leave the library where it is and hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the Library on the Back Up disk.

  • Help With strategy for id generation

    I have a J2SE application that conducts simple testing on people and tracks data, and takes pictures of them while the test is going on. Data and images are constantly streaming to the database as entities are being created and persisted this all works great.
    I want multiple people to be able to undergo testing at the same time and all store data in one database. When I try this I get errors for duplicate keys.
    I was wondering if anyone had ideas on what would be the best thing to do in this case?
    Ben

    First Thanks alot for your help! It is much appreciated.
    Ah ok i see a table called "sequence" does get put into the database.
    I am using mysql db 5.0.
    All my entity classes use
    @Id
    @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.AUTO)
    private Long id;
    with over rides.
    @Override
    public int hashCode() {
    int hash = 0;
    hash += (id != null ? id.hashCode() : 0);
    return hash;
    @Override
    public boolean equals(Object object) {
    // TODO: Warning - this method won't work in the case the id fields are not set
    if (!(object instanceof TempStat)) {
    return false;
    TempStat other = (TempStat) object;
    if ((this.id == null && other.id != null) || (this.id != null && !this.id.equals(other.id))) {
    return false;
    return true;
    The application has an entity class(encapsulating class) that in turn has collections of other entity classes which are all cascade ALL. The application does various things I will simplified a use-case for you.
    User sits down at a computer, sensors which are also attached to the computer monitor things like temperature and take pictures of the user. These statistics and data's are added to the various "Statistics" collections in the encapsulating class constantly. Depending on the activity the encapsulating class gets persisted or merged to the DB.
    So
    Encapsulating class
    |
    L--> temperature collections
    | |
    | L--> temp objects (Sample gets taken and added to collection every second)
    |
    L--> Images Collection
    | |
    | L--> image objects (Sample gets taken and added to collection every second)
    |
    L--> more collections
    So there are various threads monitoring sensors and sticking things into the Encapsulating class's statistics collections at various intervals. At some point the monitoring threads get paused and the main thread persists the Encapsulating class which cascades the collections.
    Question:
    How would duplicate keys get made? Is there some time between setting the ID's for the entity class and persisting it where another instance of the software on a different computer could attain the same key and then throw a duplicate key exception when it was persisted?
    Thanks in advance

  • Best practices for migrating merged WebHelp from RH7 to RH8?

    We're using RH7 and we'll be migrating to RH8 in November. I'm startingto get the impression I should budget the time to build up each project anew in RH8 rather than just opening copies in the new UI and hoping it all works. Has anyone blazed this trail? Willing to chat about it?

    Hi Roy.
    If the networked file was purely a backup there shouldn't have been a problem. If however the file was a source file for a project that was opened on a network drive it could very easily have caused you problems. Unfortunately most people find out the hard way
