Help install Tuxedo 8.0 on RedHat Linux 7.2

Greetings,
I'm trying to install Tuxedo 8.0 on a RedHat Linux 7.2,
using the tuxedo80_linux.bin (from www.bea.com site) ,
and face the following problems :
. I dont' know what are the dependencies needed (I saw
JRE and installed it, but it don't seem to be the only thing
to do...)
. I don't know if this package will work on RedHat 7.x
(libc changed since 6.2, which is the 'reference' release for
Tuxedo 8...)
any links, tips, report of working on it ?
Is an RPM package exist (made by BEA or not) ?

Who can help me?:(Alex,
I believe that happens because Tux 8.0 was done for RH 6.2 which uses a
different version of glibc. If you're running RH 7.2 you need to install
the compat62 packages. The RPMs should be on the install CDs or available
from the RH site.
Once installed you need to set the appropriate environment variables as
shown below:
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
export LDEMULATION=elf_i386_glibc21 # This is so that when genclntsh runs
# ld, it first looks at
usr/i386-glibc21-linux/lib
# for libraries
export GCC_EXEC_PREFIX=/usr/i386-glibc21-linux/lib/gcc-lib/
# This is so that the gcc driver uses
# the compatibility compiler
After this the installer should work just fine. The problem, i think, was
that the JVM that came in the installation archive was compiled with the
old libgc and would barf unless you're running in compatibility mode.
You'll need to set these environment vars. when running Tux as well.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Mitch

  • Problem installing Oracle 9.2 on RedHat Linux 7.1 and 9.0

    Hi everyone,
As the subject line says, I tried installing Oracle 9.2 on
RedHat Linux 7.1 and 9.0, strictly following instructions
    written by Werner Puschitz
    (http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.shtml). Both
    attempts failed with identical symptoms:
    - the installer asks for Disk 2
    - after the disk is inserted, it hangs. It turns out that
kernel is writing messages similar to these in
    /var/log/messages:
    Jun 16 02:45:19 boston kernel: 16:00: rw=0, want=317696, limit=149920
Jun 16 02:45:19 boston kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device
Unless interrupted, this continues until the /tmp filesystem gets full.
Has anyone experienced this? I haven't been able to find
    an explanation so far.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Ljubomir Buturovic

Providing a thread-bare configuration of your machine on which you are trying to install Oracle on Linux (and mind you - which kernel/distro, coz that's important) would definitely help you elicit more responses to your messages.

How to install d2k release 6i on redhat linux version 7.3?

have you tried using open motif 2.1.30?
the open motif version that comes with the redhat 7.3 is 2.2 and is not compatible with 6i. Once I used open motif 2.1.30 it worked fine. The environment variable setting is very similar to any other unix version. Ensure that you are also intalling the latest patch (10) for 6i (fixed lots of problems).

Looks like you guys are talking about installation of PROD environment. Did anyone tried Apps 11i10 with VIS ?
I am running into problem here. In step 4 of 5, the system hangs at "Completed unzip 1229 of 1236". On investigaqtion, I found that the unzipping of file "_pages40.zip" is causing problem. When I tried to manually unzip it, I found that many of the files within this zip is still password protected and hence the file is unable to unzip and system just hangs there.
Does any of you know the passwords here. Any help in this regard will be really appreciated.
And hey, the jsdk 1.4 is now coming along with the Apps installation files and you do not have to install it seperately for 11i10 ver. The apps intallation do that itself.

  • How can i install Busineess Object XI in redhat Linux?

<p>Does BusinessObjects Enterprise XI support clustering and loadbalncing ?<br /> If YES, does it supported on Redhat Linux ?<br /> Any document or URL on this ?</p>

Enterprise XI does it's own clustering and load balancing for the CMS. Business Objects does not support operating third party software to perform this.
I may be wrong but my understanding is that in order to load balance the web-site piece of XI, you have to have a way to do "sticky" sessions where a single user will always be directed to the same web server during a single session unless that server goes down in the middle of the session. So, if you need to load balance the web side of the software, you'll have to install the web component adapter on a separate server from the CMS.
One of the available web components adapters is in Java which should run on Linux. I also believe that there is a Linux install available, but I don't know which distribution it's available for. Your best be would be to do a search in the Knowledgebase for more info on this.

    Hi,
This can be solved by adding following environment variable in
    .bash_profile
    LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
    export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL
After adding , just relogin as oracle user and run the installation. It will proceed without any problem. (If u get any linker error u need run the patch glibc2.1.3stubs.tar.gz file from OTN downloads).

Thanks. Actually, I did not set any IPC parameter because I
did know how to set it on Linux. I tried both default and
customized with/without network related option such as net 8,

    means.

  • Need Help Installing 11.5.10.2 on Linux

    Hi everyone,
I have been trying to install EBS 11.5.10.2 on linux (both downloaded from edelivery )
but the RDBMS install fails saying adlnkoh.sh script error in log file. the error is that it cannot find the sqlplus file in ORACLE_HOME/bin directory..i have checked for the same and its missing too. i had previously checked for the file before rapid install runs adlnkoh.sh and the file was there, as soon as the script starts running sqlplus file is deleted.
any help to make my installation proceed would be greatly appreciated.

i remmber i faced such a prolblem but it dose not remove it it just rename it to sqlplus.old i guess but the solution was that one of the prereques patchs was not applied you need to double check all your pre-reqs
for redhat 4 check the follwoing
Legacy Software Development package and X Software Development package
Note: Select these packages from the Package Group Selection screen. If the operating system is already installed, use System Settings > Add/Remove Applications to install these two packages.

  • Installation Help for JRE v1.4 on Redhat Linux 7.3

    Hello everyone,
I would like to install the Java Runtime Environment, and was hoping someone would please be able to give me a step by step guide.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    1 Download the j2sdk-1_4_0_01-linux-i586-rpm.bin file.
2 If file on Redhat 7.3 system then "sh j2sdk-1_4_0_01-linux-i586-rpm.bin" in the bash to get j2sdk-1_4_0_01-fcs-linux-i386.rpm. (I am assuming this works since I did it the other way).
3 If file on Windows system you can use winzip to extract it too j2sdk-1_4_0_01-fcs-linux-i386.rpm
4 Place file on Redhat 7.3 system. Ensure that java is not already there with "rpm -aq | grep j2". If it is uninstall it with rpm -e <package name>.
    5 Install java with "rpm -i j2sdk-1_4_0_01-fcs-linux-i386.rpm"
5 Check that java package is now on system with "rpm -aq | grep java2". You should get this "j2sdk-1.4.0_01-fcs"
6 Java binaries are located in "/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.0_01/bin"
7 Set a tempary path for the shell "export PATH=$PATH:/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.0_01/bin"
8 Run "java" and you should get something back to show that the command did try to execute.
I could not see anything on the Sun site that described these simple steps or somthing like it. Seems like an oversight by Sun that they are not there or they are too hard to find by users like myself.
    Thanks
    Tom

  • How can I install Oracle database 9i on Redhat linux with OFA

    Hello,
    From the Unix installation guide:
Note: The Oracle Universal Installer supports, but does not require, OFA. The preconfigured database included with the Database installation type of Oracle9i database is created under a single mount point and is, therefore, not OFA-compliant.
So my question is how to install dabase with OFA structure. I have read the DOCs for OFA, but I still can not understand. I mean, within Oracle Universal Installer, is there some option allow me to support OFA?
    Thanks a lot,
    Grace

Why IBM said that their 64-bit server can run both 32-bit and 64-bit application in the same time?Because the CPU itself is capable of running both: 32-bit and 64-bit.
In order to do so you need a 64-bit operating system to run 64-bit binaries.
If you use LPARs you can partition your pSeries to have multiple partitions each running a copy of AIX. So you can run 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems at the same time if needed.
But as already pointed out i recommend to use 64-bit because most 32-bit applications will run without problems.

  • Succes installing 9iAS R2 (release 2) on RedHat Linux 7.3

I had success installing 9iAS release 2 on RedHat Linux 7.3. I used the instructions on http://www.puschitz.com/OracleOnLinux.shtml.
At first, I tried this on RedHat 8.0. Funny thing is: installation of infrastructure failed even though I followed the instructions. Then I downloaded 7.3, followed EXACTLY the same instructions and voila, works like a charm.
Puschitz' instructions are for 9i and not for 9iAS though. Some additions:
    1) One of the pre-installation steps there says to set some environment variables, one of them being the SID. It's set to 'test', but of course with standard settings the sid of the database that comes along with 9iAS has a SID of 'iasdb'.
    2) Also what I did, was to downgrade the binutils package to the version provided by Oracle here: http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/files/binutils_readme.html. As an alternative, Puschitz says to change some makefiles. I didn't try this.
    3) I then installed the infrastructure. When finished, I exited the installation and rebooted. After the reboot:
    4) I changed to the /bin directory and typed (as root):
    ln -s /sbin/fuser
    5) Changed back to user 'oracle' and started the infrastructure with:
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus
    connect / as sysdba
    startup
    exit
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/lsnrctl start
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oidmon connect=iasdb start
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oidctl connect=iasdb server=oidldapd instance=1 start
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl startall
    6) Then started the installer and did the middletier installation. Rebooted.

Following your instructions i've also succesfull installation of ias9iR2 Infrastructure on Redhat7.3. Checked the database Iasdb and Enterprise Manager Website (on http://liminwang:1810), everything works fine. Hence i try to install Portal & Wireless on the same machine on a different Oracle_home (but on the same Oracle_base) according to the installation guide. The installation stuck when i've chosen the Portal and Wireless option. I get a warning that the Enterprise Manager Website Process is still running and it must be stopped to proceed the stallation. So i stopped this process by: $oracle_home/bin/emctl stop
Still i get the same warning. Stopping the database also doesn't help. Even when i deinstalled the Enterprise Manager Website component i get the same warning.
    Please help!

  • Installing on Redhat Linux 7.1?

    Hello.
I know Redhat Linux 7.1 is not officially supported, but I want to know if it's possible to install the Sun ONE Application Server 7 on this OS.
The reason I ask this is that the installer is giving me problems. It stops during installation with the message "installation stopped or aborted". The logs show a package conflict between some of the packages from the App Server installation (no other packages are mentioned). The portions of the App Server that were installed are then automatically uninstalled.
    I'm using default install directories.
Since other posters here seem to have trouble with the installer and other versions of Redhat, perhaps my problems are not OS related at all...
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Oracle 8.0.5 works with glibc 5 and Debian Potato with glibc6 .
I guess this is your problem.
There are patches for this but i don't get
    to make work.
    Sorry for my english.
