HELP!!  install/uninstall itunes

HI, I upgraded my itunes tonight since I was prompted to do so. Since then, every time I go on I tunes I get this error message:
The registry setting used by ITUNES drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing. THis can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall Itunes.
Note that Itunes is working Fine regardless of the message I am getting
My questions:
1. If i uninstall and reinstall I tunes am I going to lose ALL my music?
2. Is there a way of fixing this?
3. I didn't install any new cd burning software so I don't know why I am getting this message

It appears by your comments, that we're both having the same issues. I just started using iTunes acouple weeks ago after I purchased my first iPod. My computer was behaving fine up until I installed iTunes. After the install and a reboot, I could not burn any CD's nor load any music via my DVD/CD Drive. ??? What happened? I right clicked on "My Computer" and the Drive had disappeared from there also. I contacted Dell (under warranty), they shipped me out a new DVD-CD/RW Drive. Same problem, the Drivers for the Drive were in conflict with something(?). Just last night, after 5 evenings with tech support from Dell, and UNINSTALLING iTunes 4 different times. The problem is narrowed down to:
iTunes; after uninstalling iTunes and rebooting, the DVD-CD-RW Drive appears again. But after a restart, it disappears again. When iTunes is installing itself it is changing Registry Files, what the mystery is: What are iTunes Registry Files CONFLICTING WITH?? You might have hit it on the head, with your comment about other Disc Burning Software. I'm going to uninstall some other programs tonight and see if that solves my problem. Such as: ROXIO, Windows Movie Maker, a CD-W Backup Program, etc.... Conflict in Registry files might be with them.
I had to order an external harddrive to backup my computer and back up iTunes before the iTunes uninstall, because I could not use my DVD-CD/RW Drive, YES you will loose rights to your purchased items if you do not backup!!
My problems are not resolved yet, but you gave me something to look into this evening. Thank you for that. Check to see if your Computer is still recognizing your Burn Drive.
sorry this is so long, I've been completely obsessed with this problem for the past 2 weeks.

I recently got the new iPod 5th gen and I need to update my iTunes in order to put my music on it.
However, when I go to install/uninstall iTunes the same error message comes up saying:
    And upon trying again/browsing:
I've tried various step by step walkthrough's off of the internet but none of them are doing anything.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

i try starting itunes and it doesn't want to work. i try installing/uninstalling and it doesn't want to work either.
    i get this message:
"The folder path "My Pictures" contains an invalid character."
i tried restoring 'My documents' to it's original and default locations, but i can't seem to get itunes to run.
any1 know how to fix this ? thanks.

It's a simple fix and doesn't involve reinstalling anything.
With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the libxml2.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Restart the programme all should be well
In case that your OS is (64 bit)
    1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    2. Copy file "libxml2.dll"
    3. Open new windows explorer, to to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    4. Paste file "libxml2.dll" to the location.
    5. Restart the programme, it should not display that message, it should be clear.

  • Can't install/uninstall iTunes

i've been getting the blue screen for a couple of weeks now...i'm freaking out cause i'm scared all this is damaging my computer... HELP! after a couple of weeks of blue screen, THIS is happening now:
it all starts with me trying to run iTunes and i would get this:
"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes"
and so i try... i downloaded the newest version from the website and when trying to run the setup windows installer would give me this:
"the feature you are trying to use id on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to ry again, or enter an aternate path to a folder containing the installation package "iTunes.msi" in the box below"
it gives me a browsing option to locate the source. when i did finally find an "iTunes.msi" and i click OK it gives me:
"the file C:/WINDOWS/Downloaded Installations/......./iTunes.msi is not a valid installation package for the product iTunes. Try to find the installation package "iTunes.msi" in a folder from which you can install iTunes"
even if i try browsing to the downloaded setup it won't work. when i finally run out of options and click on cancel it would show:
"the installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it"
and that's about it. This will show if i try to install, uninstall or repair... so nothing works... ANY IDEAS? please

okay, we can actually proceed on two fronts with this.
as a preliminary, right-click on some of the Minidumps, and check the "Date Created". we're looking for dumps that were created with the itunes-related crashes that you were getting.
front one: let the Apple Engineers have a look
find some of the itunes-related minidumps and send them as attachments to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing
front two: we can try analysing the dumps ourselves
    Debugging crash dumps:
    1. Download and install the Windows debugging tools from here:
    <http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/debugging/installx86.mspx>
    2. Go to Start, All Programs, Debugging Tools For Windows, Windbg
Once you open Windbg, you will presented with a blank screen.
    3. Click on File, Symbol File Path. Here you will enter the symbols path. Symbols are needed to effectively debug.
    The path will be:
    SRVc:symbolshttp://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols
    4. Enter in this path and click OK. Now, go to File, Save Workspace so that your symbols path is saved for future use.
    5. Go to File, Open Crash Dump and load the file. You will get a message to save base workspace information. Choose no.
Now you will get a debugging screen. It takes a little bit to run it, as the symbols have to be downloaded as they are needed. You can get more details by typing "!analyze -v" in the debugger.
Try doing a Google search for the name of the component that caused the crash, and then dig around on the net for anything useful.
(also post back here with the name of the component, so i can have a look, too.)
Sometimes you need to drop the file extension (.sys, .exe, etc) in order to find relevant info.

  • Pple Application Suport isrequired to run itunes helper. Please uninstall itunes then installagain.  Error 2  Please help

Apple Application Suport was not found.
Apple Application Support is required to run itunesHelper.
Please uninstall itunes then install again.
Error2         Please help i did everything and still have the same problem

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

Please try the troubleshooting steps mentioned here : http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408940.html
As a first step, you can try running Organizer directly from its exe in c:\program files or program files x86\adobe\elements organizer Ver\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe by right clicking it >> run as Admin. Now try taking slideshow output. Keep all background processes turned off from Edit >> Pref >> Media Analysis, while taking output.

  • Error 1910 and problems installing/uninstalling itunes

So i have been up at school trying to use my itunes to add more songs to my ipod on my new laptop. i installed itunes the first time around when i first got my laptop and one day it just stopped working. I have tried to remove the program entirely from my computer but when i try to do that it says "error 1910 could not find shortcut Itunes.ink" please verify file exists and try again. then after that message i get another saying error code 2330 there may be a problem with this package. i dont know what to do and i just want to get rid of it so i can start from scratch. please help.

You can get this error when there is damage to the filing system. Try running a disk check to see if it finds any errors.

  • Installing/Uninstalling Itunes

Am having an issue installing the latest version of itunes.... I get the following error in the installation process....
Error writing to file C:\Program Files\itunes\itunes.resources\pl.lproj\Aboutbox.rtf
Verify you have access to that directory
I have followed the instructions in trying to remove Itunes
"Removing and Reinstalling Itunes, Quicktime, and other components for Windows XP"
and when i try to delete the c:\ProgramFiles\Itunes folder i then get the following error
"Cannot delete pl.lproj: The directory is not empty"
So as you can see i am stuck. Any help would be much appreciated....
    Thanks

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Anyone know how to fix this? I cannot use iTunes or update my iPod.

Installation stopped and I got this warning,

Even though you're not getting an error message number 1402 or 1406, the best place to start with an install problem citing that particular Registry key is the following document:

Ive just brought a new video 30gb ipod, but have been unsusccessfull in trying ti install it on my pc. I keep getting a error message saying... itunes setup(1).exe is not a valid win 32 application ?
What does this mean and how do I solve it ?

Your Win32 error could mean you have some possible Windows System files or corrupted files. Run your program to check Windows.
I use Norton Systemworks program. For more info goto:

Using your Window XP program to: Run ADD/REMOVE to remove ITunes software program.
Note: (ITunes Version 6 is not compatible with the new 5th Gen IPOD 2006-09.)
Then do Windows Update; get all the recent updates.
Download Windows ITunes Version 7.0 or higher.
Restart Computer: and run ITunes program alone.
Toggle the IPOD Hold Button On and Off.
Do IPOD Manual Reset by selecting:
Menu and Center button simultaneously, for about 6 seconds.
You may have to do this several times.
    Re-try IPOD connection to ITunes.

  • Need help installing new itunes version on older mac for nano syncing

I purchased a new nano and new music, but can't get the nano sync because desktop mac is requesting me to upgrade the iTunes version.
When I do, it says "This update requires OS X version 10.7.5 or later." How does this get done?

  • HT1349 I have installed and uninstalled iTunes on multiple occasions, but keep getting the error message that "Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes ..... Error 2 (Windows Error 2)".  Can't find any useful solution.  Can anyone help?  Pleeee

I have instlled and uninstalled iTunes on multiple occasions but iTunes fails to start with message "Apple Application support is required to run iTunes .......... Error 2 (Windows error 2)".  Most most frustrating.  Can anyone help, pleeeeeeease!!

iTunes "Apple Application Support is required... Error 2" and possible fix.
    Hi Redgilly (and others).
I just resolved this on Win Vista (should apply equally for Win7 too). Please uninstall iTunes before proceeding though. I'll walk you through the process I followed, if you like you can jump straight to the Solution section.
    Problems:
The initial error during the installation of iTunes was:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F
The error (after installing iTunes) when trying to run iTunes was:
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).
After trying various fixes around the forums I came across this MSKB article, which relates to the first installation error:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2688946
This lead me to trying to install MS Visual C++ but I received the following error trying to install that:
    Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC80.ATL,type=”win32”,version=”8.0.50727.762”,publicKeyToken=”1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b”,processorArchitecture=”amd64”’. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070BC9. Assembly interface: IassemblyCacheItem, function: Commit, component: {837BF1EB-D770-94EB-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}
Note: The installation of VC++ rolls back when it fails.
    Solution:
Through this error I found this MSKB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946414
The Automated MS "Fix It" msi package didn’t work.
Note: Please backup your registry first (see the above MSKB article for instructions).
I opened the registry and (as instructed in the MSKB article) deleted the following keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\
    PendingXmlIdentifier
    NextQueueEntryIndex
    AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving
    Reboot and reinstall iTunes.
    I hope this helps.
