Help! installed 10.5 - now no internet!

Up until yesterday I had a G4 tower running 10.3.9. The built-in ethernet card died sometime ago, so at the recommendation of the apple discussion boards I purchased and installed the Belkin brand PCI ethernet card - worked great for years.
Now, I have recently updated to 10.5, and my card will no longer function whatsoever. the computer does recognize that the card is there, but despite being hooked up to the working internet (i tested the cable modem and the cord - both work on my crappy PC laptop) the status says that the "cable is not plugged in" what can I do? i really would like NOT to have to downgrade just get my internet back.

It is possible the belkin device needs a new driver to work under leopard.
Can you confirm what chipset the belkin device is using. In my experience the only cards that work flawlessly under any build of the mac os are devices that use a realtek chipset.
Given that you can purchase and generic branded NIC that has a realtek chipset for as little as £5 then you may just want to try a new NIC.
Failing that you could try and copy the ethernet driver from tiger and put in your leapard extensions directory.

Hi Guys, I'm running snow leopard 10.6.3 recently had update which left me with a DMSL launch problem. Re installed software and now can't connect to Internet with cable or wifi ! can see network and router. Have tried many things and now pulling my hair out !

first things first — buy an external drive to use as a Time Machine backup destination and make a back up. That way, you won’t lose anything which is currently on your MacBook Pro. -

i have installed photoshop elements 12.
when I try use the editing features it said that i must login to Adobe to register the product.
but each time i try to it said there is a problem.

the problem stated that the internet is not connected, but that is not the case.I had the same issue and I'm running Windows 7. Tried working with technical support for several hours but they were no help. They just had me doing the same things over and over, offering no real answers. I finally got fed up and have decided to return my product for a full refund.

I have been working on installing this software for weeks now and am at the end. The first time the organizer installed but the editor wouldn't. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and am ready to take this application back to the store. I have a Vista machine.
It still didn't work. I paid for Photoshop 12 at Costco. The organizer downloaded just fine but when I tried to use the editor, the screen appeared asking for my Adobe sign on, I signed on, and then the application just churned. I had to use task manager to stop it. Per your instruction, I downloaded Photoshop 13 from the site, it downloaded fine and then asked for my Adobe sign on and then just churned. I can now access Photoshop 13 organizer but still can't get editor.
This is ridiculous. Last night I did the msconfig.exe and followed the instructions on changing the start up menu and disabling everything.
I am furious about this. It looks like you want me to pay for Photoshop Elements 13 when I can't get 12 to work. This is a Vista machine.

I tried to update iTunes with the latest version and I got a message saying that - MSVCR80.dll was not installed. I think I successfully installed that through an online help website but I now get R6034 - C\Program Files(x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe

Ever since I installed MAVERICK, nothing now works, Flash Player won't run, printer works but scanner will not and the computer runs so slow. Any help anywhere?
wqn02h, first thing I would do is use Disk utility to repair permissions. Once this is done. Make sure you have the latest versions of the software you use. Also, check the manufacter of your printer/scanner for updated software. If they don't have updated software there are 3rd party alternatives that will work.

I had beeen using Puffin browser for running flash player on my iPad2. Now the Puffin browser is not getting connected and I get a message saying that " A Firewall is installed between your device and internet". Can somebody suggest how to resolve this???

In System Preferences > App Store you can turn off the automatic updates by unchecking "Install app updates" as I've done here:
