HELP! Installed new OS but...
Pls help.
I was in the midst of installing the new 4.5 OS for my curve and suddenly half way through installation it prompt that device was not connected. the desktop software suggested to reinstall the backup file.
at this point of time, i can't even get my bb to connect to the pc. the desktop software opens but says disconnected.
my bb shows a white screen with "blackberry platform 2.5.0.40" bottom of this says empty.
dont know what to do know, need guidance from experts.

And Make certain your USB cable is connected to one of the PC's main rear USB ports. Not a USB hub, nor a monitor USB port, nor a USB port on the front of the PC.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

What exactly dod you have and have you done?
What version of iPhoto did you have and what version do you now have? Of the OS? If you are upgrading from iphoto '08 or earlier did you download and RUN the iphoto library upgrader?

If it then works on your computer's iTunes but not your phone/iPad then try logging out of your account on the phone/iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it -

but i followed documentation "http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/install-linux.html" and installed new j2sdk 1.4.2 but again when i check its version it is showing old java as

Mac laptop (OS X) trackpad functions don't work since I installed new firefox (but works on Safari)

You don't have to disable any addons or extentions!!!You guys are not going to believe this I figured out the problem it's really dumb...ok here goes the attachment uploader loads seperate so I got to thinking it's a popup so I went to options content and under block pop ups there is an option exceptions click on that and in the box type firefox.com and hit allow pow its fixed!!!!! :-)

Ive looked over the wiki page regarding installing new fonts and am finding it a bit confusing. The wiki suggests creating a package and lists provides and example but I am still unsure how exactly to use it.
Lets say my font is downloaded to: ~/Desktop/font.ttf
What exactly would I edit in this code, and then what would i type to package it and then install it?

Need help installing new itunes version on older mac for nano syncing
I purchased a new nano and new music, but can't get the nano sync because desktop mac is requesting me to upgrade the iTunes version.
When I do, it says "This update requires OS X version 10.7.5 or later." How does this get done?Which exact model computer? Basically you're stuck unless you can upgrade OS. There's no other way to transfer music to the device. -
When Trying to install the newest Flash player, Im asked to fill in my login.
I have no clue what my login is. (It happened very rarely that I was asked to fill in this when installing a new program, and the login I have used before are not valid now.
When I search for help, I am suggested to put in the original installation Cd.. and press the "C" button when I hear the starting sound... but when I do this nothing is happening.

/ JoelYou need the admin password you created when you first set up the machine. Just about every installer running under OS X will require you to authorize the installation by entering an administrator password - even software update requires this. You really should not forget your admin password, as it is required for many things in OS X since, unlike Windows, you often need to manually type in the admin password to proceed with an install or update (whereas Windows will take admin authority, if you are logged in as an admin, by simply clicking continue or yes).

Trying to install music ringtones on my new iphone. Downloaded app., and went through steps. When I got into itunes, I don't have a ringtone file under Library, so I can't download the songs into that file. Suggestions?
Ringtones library is now called Tones. If you don't see Tones under the Library, go to iTunes menu EDIT>Preferences>check the Tones box under General tab, sources then click ok.

I just got a (lightly) used Mac Mini as a second computer (2010 model). Logged into Mac App Store with my Apple ID and tried to check for updates...received "An error has occurred - The request timed out" message. Was able to go to the main App Store page and download/install OS X Mountain Lion...then tried again and still got the time-out error. Any ideas of what is happening and how to get Software Update to work?
Apps already installed by the former owner of the Mini are associated with that persons Apple iD. You won't be able to update any of those apps using your Apple iD. Those apps will have to be purchased from your Apple ID only.
Apparently the previous owner had not upgraded to Mountain Lion as yet, or you would not have been able to download and install that OS X. -
"you are tring to use is a network resource that is unavailable. find folder itunes.msi" i dont have a folder like that and anything i use that is related does not work. ive tryed to uninstall but still does the same thing when.

Upgraded to Mavericks and installed new iphoto but can't get iphoto to work
I have not been able to open my iphoto library with the current version after installing Mavericks and purchasing/installing iphoto 9.5
Here's the system info: iMac (from Dec. 2007)
2.8 GHz Core duo
4 GB SDRAM
OS X 10.9.1 (as of yesterday)
Iphoto 08 (7.1.5) lived on a network drive ( Lacie cloud drive) shared between a pc and a mac.
Upgraded to 9.5 yesterday
I used time machine backup before installing Mavericks and proceeded to try to upgrade iphoto. However, I did not make a backup of my system after this installation and before I installed the new iphoto. Does Time machine backup iphoto files located on a network drive? Does it matter that the backup was made with snow leopard and not Mavericks?
I followed instructions on a thread indicating that iphoto Library upgrader 1.1 should be used to prepare my old library prior to opening with iphoto 9.5.
When I double-clicked the upgrader it gave me this message:
Your library can open with the current version of iPhoto and does not need to be prepared with this tool.
I noticed that the iphoto icon has already changed from orange to blue.
OK- great! So I go to the freshly installed iphoto and try to open my library and get this message:
The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto.
Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete.
Alright, so I click the upgrade button and I get the beachball of death for about 15 minutes and then see a message that says:
Examining photo library- Examining with the beachball of death goes on for another 10 minutes and then iphoto just crashes and closes.
Back to searching through threads- Ah- try option + cmd while opening iphoto to rebuild the database but then get this message AGAIN:
The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto.
Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete.
And so, the cycle continues....
After reading through a few other discussion I discovered that the iphoto library should have been on a drive formated as Mac OS extended (journaled)
So- I format an external harddrive as Mac OS extended (journaled) and proceed to copy the iphoto library (234 GB) onto the external harddrive and after about 30 minutes I received this message:
The operation can’t be completed because an item with the name “iPhoto Library” already exists. I click OK and everything stops and shuts down.
Is it possible to get rid of Mavericks and go back to my original iphoto 08 using the time machine backup? If so, should I then use the upgrader before installing Mavericks and the new iphoto?
At this point I have no clue how to proceed. I am trying not to panic but this process is starting to drive me a little bananas and my brain is slowly, but surely, melting away.
Please help save my sanity. Please.
Thank you.The problem is the library has been damaged from sitting on the Network Drive, and frankly, returning to the old OS won't change anything, nor will downgrading iPhoto. You're going to have this issue once you try and move the Library, or update it in any way, and - even if you stick with the old version of iPhoto, you're going to start having issues just saving edits, sharing and so on.
So, you're between a rock and a hard place.
I've no idea if TM backs up material on a NAS, but I do know that it can be set to back up externald rives. I'm somewhat surprised that you don't know, as this is your back up system that you created and the easiest route out of this situation. NOw there's only one way to find out.
So, my first effort would be to try restore the Library from TM to the correctly formatted drive:

If that doesn't work or is not possible, your next effort is to try rebuild the Library to the correctly formatted drive:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
If that doesn't work, then you're recovering the masters from the Library and starting over from scratch. -

Installing a new drive in late 2007 MBP. Read about cloning drives et al. using carbon cloner.
Instructions for cloning to an already formatted external verbatim HD - by dividing an existing partition looks simple enough.

I would do the clone just to see how it works and have a bootable copy of my existing drive...
But what I'd like to do is - Fresh Install - everything, and pull desired data over manually from time machine back up I have on external.
QUESTION - after I install the new "unformatted drive" into computer what happens when I start it up since there is no operating system? Will I just be able to restart and use my Snow Leopard disk - NOT ORIGINAL COMPUTER INSTALLATION DISKS - to format drive and install OS ?
If so, I would do software upgrades, then install applications and updates, then get my data from time machine back up.

Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
7. When formatting is completed quit DU and return to the installer. Complete the OS X installation.
When done you will boot into the newly installed system on the newly installed drive. You can then restore what you want from your backup. -
Help installing new JDBC driver on LINUX
Hello,
Today, I downloaded the new SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver onto
my Linux Server. The path to the driver's .jar file is
/root/sqljdbc_1.0/enu/sqljdbc.jar. I placed that path in my CF
Adminstrator "Java and JVM" page's Class Path field. I restarted
the app server but each time I try to establish a dsn connection I
keep getting this error. (note: I have dsn's set up already to this
instance of SQL Server 2005 so the communicatio is there but I
would prefer to use this new driver)
Connection verification failed for data source: dsnTestDB
