Help installign lightroom

Hai!!
I am having a few problems installing light room from creative cloud.
My download gets about halfway through then just errors.
This is the text of the error message
Exit Code: 7
Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example, ERROR:

MSI Error message:
ERROR: Third party payload installer Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi failed with exit code: 1624
I saw elsewhere someone had managed a workaround for this, but i had a look at it and couldn't understand it. I'm not very technical and have little idea how windows works. So if you could be really simple with any advice that'd be great!

Here's some more info on what's going on, and how to work out how to find the Adobe_Lightroom_X64.msi file referred to in the earlier answer.
The page Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC shows how to find the log files from adobe installs.
I used this to find that my most recent failed install log was:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 5.3 12-24-2013.log.gz"
The first error message in that file was:

I looked in the folder C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp\{F6E83402-D8E2-4149-BFE4-5AF6C840B619}\Lightroom_5 _CCM_LS11_win64\ and it contained only these files:
Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi
de_DE.mst
en_US.mst
es_ES.mst
fr_FR.mst
it_IT.mst
ja_JP.mst
ko_KR.mst
nl_NL.mst
proxy.xml
pt_BR.mst
sv_SE.mst
zh_CN.mst
zh_TW.mst
i.e. it contained Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi, but didn't contain the required en_GB.mst.
When I ran that Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi manually, it installed Lightroom fine.
So it looks like an error, that the Adobe Creative Cloud-driven installation of Lightroom requests the en_GB translation or language, which is missing.

Help! Lightroom freezes after installing.

I get this message after trying to create or open a catalog: "An error occured when attemting to change modules." Then Lightroom freezes.
I work on a Mac and have formatted and reinstalled my systemdisk with a qlean install. I had Lightroom installed and have used it for some years. But when installing the programs again I went for the Creative Cloud solution. When I tried to open my previous catalog I got this error message. And after several deinstallings and reinstallings I still get the same message and Lightroom freezes.
Anyone who can help?

Thank you for answering. But I find no such file in Preferences. I think Lightroom freezes before making the preference file. Other solutions?

well the reason I wanted to talk to someone live because it would take forever to explain everything on here But anyway, here goes. I have an HP Pavilion Notebook with Intel Core i5-323om CPU @2.60 GHz and 8 gb ram 64bit. I am trying to run Lightroom 5.7 on my laptop and having major issues. I use an external hard drive for the storage of my photos. When I try to use Lightroom I run into many issues: Flickering of the screen, freezing up, slow, the loading circle just goes round and round lol. If I go to the washroom or leave the computer for even a minute it freezes up. I have to keep pressing Ctr/alt/delete to bring it back when it flickers. I have to constantly exit out of the program and restart it to be able to edit even just a couple of photos and then it starts acting up again.
I have tried un-installing and re-installing, updating everything on my pc, changing compatibility settings, updating development settings, I even took the laptop into have it looked at and they did all kinds of updates etc...and still couldn't figure out why it wasn't working for me. I have gone through the lists of troubleshooting for LR problems and there just seem to be nothing that works.....I have made new catalogues, moved them, tried using the software on my pc without the EHD, etc etc.......I have tried EVERYTHING...I think.....so I was looking for some answers as to why this is happening....

Just for clarity, "we" haven't taken your money - this is a user-to-user forum, and you're not talking to Adobe.
Like Rob I'm a Windows user, and - like him - I thought "uninstalling" on Macs was simply a case of trashing the application. Google would seem to concur.
Not really a Lightroom/Adobe issue, then?

Help In Lightroom Help

Not sure why this is happening or how to fix. If I click on Help in Lightroom and then Lightroom Help to bring up topics, it trys to open PageMill and can't.. Why would it do this, and how do I get around this problem?

What platform? Help useually opens in a browser. You may have to locate the Help files and make sure they are directed to your browser of chice, instead of PageMill.

HELP! Lightroom CC file will not open "edit in" Photoshop CC after upgrade

help! I use Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC and I used to be able to "EDIT IN" and choose Photoshop which would then open up the image in Photoshop. Just updated last night (auto via CC) now it will NOT open in Photoshop...any suggestions! thank you!

Hi, I am looking for some help with Lightroom.

Hi, I am using windows and I have the latest updates for both Lightroom and Photoshop. Although everything has been working okay, now all my options are greyed out in Lightroom when I want to go - Photo, edit in, Photoshop. The only things that have changed recently are I am using a new camera (but Lightroom and Photoshop have updates for it, and I have downloaded trial versions of Snap Art 4, DXO ViewPoint2 and DXO Optics Pro. Does anyone know why my options to edit in are greyed out? And, how to fix it please? Thanks.

I think there may be other ways but as it's holidays there are less people around.
Pretty sure removing the Preference file won't help but you can try that first by shifting the file and if no change replacing it. Here is the way to locate them:

I cannot open HELP in Lightroom 3.6.

When I go to Lightroom HELP it will not open. I have been able to open it in the past without any problem.
I'm using Windows XP and Lightroom 3.6.
If I have changed anything I'm not aware that I did that.
Any suggestion greatly appreciated.

Need help for Lightroom Print&Web Templates

Hi,
I have just downloaded/installed my official Lightroom version (Mac OSX 10.4) and I have realized that there is no Print nor Web Templates accessible in the Template Browser section. I think I have done a mistake since I have erased completely the files from the beta4 version (including obviously the libraires containing those templates) before installing the official Lightroom V1.
Can anybody tell me where/how to get those original Adobe Templates files again. I have tried to re-install several times the V1 version but it does not help. Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

They were in User/Libray/Adobe Lightroom, no at User/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom

Exporting Help in Lightroom 2.7

I am trying to export a file from Lightroom. I don't see any mark on the file that I just exported that file. Is there any way to do/see that? If i don't end up working on all of my images at one time & then close down lightroom, when I open it up again, i have no idea which images i worked on already.
Can anyone help please?

In the bottom right corner of images you will see a series of icons, depending on what changes you have made. If you have made changes in develop, if the file has been cropped etc.Your most recent export is automatically added to a collection that is shown in the top panel "catalog" of the library mode.
In LR you can mark your images with various ratings, colours, flags dependent on your needs as well as adding key words etc. You can also use smart collections to search for files by any metadata field you wish. There really are so many ways to search for and organise your files it is not worth trying to explain them all here. If you click on on line help there are lots of tutorials that will explain how LR works and give you some ideas about how you want to use LR to organise your files.

HELP! Lightroom 5 catalog has nothing

I will try to provide all the steps that brought me here;
LR 5
Win 8 Pro
1. In the field, imported and edited images on laptop.
2. Back at office, Exported Folder as a Catalog on laptop.
2a. Catalog creaed some funky folders it never did in LR 4...created the previews folder but then it created a D- folder, inside this folder was the name of my root folder, inside that folder was a copy of my data, duplicated from the above folders in the folder structure.
3. On my main workstation, I copied the entire folder and catalog to the machine and chose Import from Another Catalog.
4. Here my folder structure was not visible however in my explorer I had the files doubled; the D folder created in my CATALOG folder and also the folder structure I had originally created so my folder now is 40GB twice the original folder structure of 20GB.
5. Not knowing what to do to fix this, I clicked on Synchronize folder and that's when everything dissapeared. Now I have (0) photos showing, however they are all there in my Explorer. If I click on the catalog which clearly shows the same file size when I originally imported it, 17MB, it tells me there is nothing new to import and all my files are there but I can't see anything in LR.
6. If I click on the IMPORT function, it shows me all the files as if I was importing them from a flash card or another location.
So, what is wrong and will I loose all the edits that I did?
Why when I exported the catalog did it create this funky folder structure and duplicated the files?
HELP, HELP, HELP, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you speaking about Lightroom? By "main page", do you mean the Library Module with "All Photographs" selected?
If so, right-click on any photo and select Go To Folder in Library and it will highlight the folder containing this photo in the left-hand side Folder Panel.

No help in Lightroom CC

Pressed F1 key in Lightroom CC and get a message that the page cannot be displayed. Then asking whether http://community.stage.corp.adobe.com is correct. It is not. Strange that this shipping version has the wrong web address for its Help.

An update called LR 6.0.1 was released earlier today that supposedly fixed the lack of help. Log out and back into CC (Gear/Prefs/Account/Signout) and you should see LR CC at the top with an Update button. The update is not a full install and only takes a minute or two.

Please help! Lightroom shuts down and re-starts EVERY time I export a file

I've used Lightroom for 2 years and it only started happening TODAY! I need to edit my pictures in photoshop, but I can't get them from Lightroom because every time I hit the export button it starts the process and then my computer shuts down and then re-starts after a few seconds. Why? How can I fix it. I'm a wedding photographer and need these pictures edited! Any help is appreciated.

Check in the same folder/directory as your active .lrcat: there should be no xxxx.lock file when LR is quit; there should be one opened when LR is launched. Other than also deleting your Prefs file, perhaps the OS and version of LR would help.

Need help with Lightroom 5. How do I download?

I was able to download Adobe PS and Bridge, but not Lightroom 5. I purchased these items. They are not beta or trial. This is the error message I get. Please advise.

Help with Lightroom 5

Hello, I am new to photography and Lightroom 5.
I just installed Lightroom 5 in my iMac from the Creative_Cloud. When I open the app., I get the following error message:
"An error occurred when attempting to change modules". When I press OK, it goes away and I get a blank gray screen.
The Library/Develop/Map/Book/Slideshow/Print/ Wed module buttons are displayed on the upper right side of the screen.
"Lightroom 5 Catalog.Ircat - Adobe Photoshop Lightroom - Library" is also displayed at the top center of the screen,
but nothing else.
What am I doing wrong?
I would like to import some photos into this catalog?
I have also downloaded Photoshop and that app. is working fine.

In Solution 5, I was able to verify that I have "Read & Write" priviledges,
so that did not help.
Solution 6 - I'm stuck. It suggests to Copy the Lightroom folder into a new user account or other existing account on your computer.
Then, restart Lightroom. The Lightroom folder is in the following locations:
Mac OS: [user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/
I am not that computer literate because this procedure seems confusing to me. I have located the Lightroom folder, but I am lost beyond
that. I don't know where the "new user account" is or the other "existing account".
