Help installing iPhoto 6

I have an iBook G3 800 with 640 MB of RAM. I would like to install just iPhoto 6 from the iLife '06 DVD but when I click on the package icon I receive the message that I need a G4 or better processor to install this software. Has anyone been able to install this on a G3? Is there some way to extract just the iPhoto files from the installer?
iBook G3 800   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Raymond:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You're getting that message as a G4 is needed for some of the advanced editing features. Download and usePacifist to locate and extract iPhoto from the iLife install package. Should work.

What do i do if on the app store when i try to install iPhoto tells me to "accept" and when i do it states that i can't do that on this computer? It doesnt give me the price and the option to buy, it just gives me the option to accept the app but doesnt let me accept it.

Yeah. I eventually just installed it with the original CD that came with my mac and then updated to the most recent versions so that iphoto could support icloud. Without the application CD that came with your mac I dont dont how to install it. You would probably have to request a copy from Apple. Hope this fixes your problem.

  • I have bought a 2nd hand late 2008 macbook air and can't install iPhoto as it requires update 10.9 or higher i can't seem to update any further than 10.7.5 help???

I have bought a 2nd hand late 2008 macbook air and can't install iPhoto as it says it requires update 10.9 or higher i can't seem to update any further than 10.7.5 can anyone help please???

Thankyou for your response... being new to this i have had a look and it says the following
This system can run the last version of OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" as well as the current version of OS X 10.9 "Mavericks," but does not support the AirDrop, AirPlay Mirroring, or Power Nap features. It is not supported booting into 64-bit mode when running Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard." It does support "OpenCL" and Grand Central Dispatch introduced with Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard."
Please note that OS X "Lion" 10.7 and subsequent versions of OS X, like Mountain Lion and Mavericks, are not capable of running Mac OS X apps originally written for the PowerPC processor as these operating systems do not support the "Rosetta" environment. To run PowerPC applications on this Mac, it will be necessary to use Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" or earlier
    what do i do next
Thankyou once again for your reply

  • I have just installed iPhoto 11 and all of photos on my iphone have now all disappeared and ended up in my photo stream and the library in iphoto does not display all my pictures?? Can anyone help?

I have just installed iPhoto 11 and all of photos on my iphone have now all disappeared and ended up in my photo stream and the library in iphoto does not display all my pictures?? Can anyone help?

And I cant work out why all of my pictures are not diplaying in iphoto?
Is this iPhoto on your Mac?  Are you referring to the photos that were in your iPhoto LIbrary prior to the upgrade to iPhoto 11?  If so then apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If that's not what you're referring to then you should describe what is happening in more detail. Remember we can't see your Mac or your iPhone so need detailed and accurate descriptions of what you're experiencing.
Also we need infomartion like do you have an iCloud account and are you logged into it on all of your devices, iPhoto and Mac? do you have Photo Stream enabled on both.

  • Can't install iphoto 6.0.3!! help

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have a imac G4 256 MB w/ OX 10.4.6. I am still running iphoto 2 (what the computer came with) Now I finally want to upgrade to iphoto 6.0.3 and the computer won't let me. When I am told to select a destination to install it, my Mac HD icon comes up w/ a red exlamation point through it. When I select it I get this message: "you cannot install iphoto update 6.0.3 on this volume. An eligible iphoto apllication was not found in the location application/iphoto/app." Does anyone have any idea what I need to do. I am not very computer savvy. Also my computer says that I have 38.3 GB (is that memory?) w/ 21.8 free and iphoto needs 52.9 MB so I think I should have enough. Any help or thoughts is greatly appreciated. thanks

    hello brooklyngirl
you say that you are still using iphoto 2. you have to have iphoto 6 installed before you can download version 6.0.3. the only way to get iphoto 6 is to buy it. that is buy the ilife'06 package. once you install it then and only then will you get the update. sorry this is the way it has to be.

  • Re installing Iphoto 08...Help!!

I need help on this does anyone know how to re install iphoto 8, its already installed and when i put the cd in the computer i went to custom setting during the install process, but i cannot check the box next to iphoto. What is the secret or what do i have to do to reinsall just iphoto again!!

    rbe1972
It won't install because the Installer thinks it's already on your Mac.
So, to uninstall the first iPhoto: trash the app from your Applications Folder
Then go to HD/Library/Receipts and trash any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
Then try run the installer again.

I deleted the pre-installed iPhoto app from my iPhone 5s by mistake. And I can't find the same app in the App Store. How do I recover it?

iPhoto for iOS is no longer being offered by Apple and has been replaced by the Photos app. It is not compatible with iOS 8.  This Apple document may help:  Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8 - Apple Support

  • When I want to edit a photo in photoshop, iphoto duplicates the image and I end up with two or three copies of the same photo and they are also duplicated on my computer.  This has only occurred since I installed iPhoto 11.

Ever since I installed iPhoto '11 on my computer, I have had a problem with images being duplicated when I want to open an image to edit in Photoshop.  I did not realize at first that the images were also duplicated on my computer.  This has taken up an incredible amount of space on my computer.  Why does this happen?  Is there a problem with the software?  Can I remove iPhoto and re-install?  Would that help?

saUnless you have a copy of your iPhoto 09 library you will have to start over from scratch with a new library and import the Masters file from inside iPhoto 11's library as described here:
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1.  Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Origianls (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.

  • Error in installing iphoto 6

Hi. I just converted to a new powermac G5 and started using iphoto.
I tried upgrading iphoto 5 to iphoto 6 but during the install when I'm asked to
"Select a destination volume to install the iphoto Update 6.0.2 software." I get a red stop sign when I click on the icon "Macintosh HD 233GB (219GB free)". It states "you can not install iphoto Update 6.0.2 on this volume. an eligible iphoto application was not found in the loction /Applications/iphoto.app".
I've read on here that I need ilife 6 but I thought this new computer (purchased oct/05) had it already on. Do I need to purchase it or is there something else I need to do on the install.
    Thanks you for any advice!

Thanks Lori, that's what I finally figured.
I'll go ahead and purchase it.
    I appreciate the help!

When I tried to install IPHOTO 4.0 this message appears "This installation cannot proceed because one of the following applications is running - ITUNES, IPHOTO, IMOVIE" All these applications are not running, I have turned off my computer and on again and continue to get the same message.
