Help installing OS X please!

I wiped the HD clean. I lost all my software, but borrowing OS X for MacBook from a friend.
First and foremost... is it POSSIBLE for me to get this software on my iBook?
Secondly... how? When I put the install disc in, I get a chime, an Apple and the spinning circle of death, no matter what key I hold down or don't.
Your help is greatly appreciated, and thank you for dealing with my complete lack of knowledge when it comes to Macs.

No, it's not possible to use install discs for an Intel Mac (MacBook) on a Mac with a PowerPC processor (iBook).
In fact, it's often not possible to use install and/or restore discs for any Mac other than the ones that came with it. Do you have those original software discs? If so, follow the appropriate links here:

If you don't have the original system software discs, you could use a full retail version of the OS, but it won't have all of the applications that originally came with the iBook.
What is the MHz rating of the iBook, how much RAM is installed, how big is the hard drive, and what kind of optical drive does it have?

I have installed the two disks on my pc.....and it says 'Thanks' ...but no startup icon has been put on the desktop...and there is no startup icon in Program files/Adobe/Premier pro.

Need help installing Zend Optimizer, please!

I'm new to this... Zend's installation instructions aren't the greatest when it comes to installing Optimizer 3.3.3, at least for someone with my lack of experience. I see that I have to run Terminal to install. Zend's instructions read as follows, and I don't see "dir" where I can change "dir to a directory in Terminal. Also, where do I find out the package name? Here are the directions:
To install the Zend Optimizer on UNIX Variants:
1. Open a terminal window and change dir to the directory in which the
Zend Optimizer package was saved.
To untar the package use the command:
gunzip -c <package name> | tar xf -
2. From the extracted package's directory, type the following command:
./install.
The installer is launched
ALL help is appreciated. I am lost!

Reistallation of older or up to date iTunes versions is impossible because: "Installation package iTunes.msi is located on a network resource not available" and because "It is impossible to remuove thew previous verson of iTunes. Impossible fto find the path."

Take a look at iTunes for Windows: "Error 7" message when opening iTunes. Perhaps your .NET Framework needs a repair.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

I reinstalled iphoto from the original application install DVD and when trying to open it I get a failure message. My mac version is 10.8.5 and the install disc is 10.6.6. Cannot Install CS4. Please Help!!

I downloaded a 10 segment CS4 package from my university software site. My download window shows all parts were downloaded sucessfully but I cannot install. Bear with me, I'm still in computer "tech" learning and lingo. They are all .dmg extenstions. When I try to open, say, part 1, there is a warning saying "no mountable file systems". Try to open part 2, and warning says "missing parts 1,3, 9" though they are present. I ran Adobe Support Advisor and it said that I needed to update a certain font, but wouldn't tell me which one. I ran the download through Firefox, if that matters. I looked through their support forums and found no help. Can someone please help?? I've spent hours trying to install this. I'm about ready to give up and scrap it, but I really need some of the Suite, especiallly Illustrator.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps to install Firefox.
You may need to re-download a new Firefox copy.

I still don't know which version of OSX you have but assuming it's 10.7 or 10.8 .....
You need to press command-R (at the sound of the chime) to get into recovery, try that, if it does not work try command-option-R for Internet Recovery.
