Help Installing RAID Controller Driver

Solaris Express 11 live CD cannot find drives('format' output says "no drives found")
After booting up from Solaris Express 11 live CD,there is a message "Some device drivers cannot be found".
After clicking Device Driver Utility there are two storage related items in the list with 'missing drivers':
PromiseTechnology PDC20575 SATAII150 TX2plus
Intel Corporation 631xESB/632xESB SATA RAID Controller
There is an option to install 'PromiseTechnology' driver,I clicking 'install',after a while it says "Installed successfully" but 'format' still cannot find anything.
The details for both items are below. How do I continue installation from this point ????
Many Thanks.

  • Need help installing Intel Lan Driver on a Satellite A100-011

I have bought Toshiba Satellite A100-011 notebook with Windows Vista. Now I downgraded the os to Windows XP. The problem is how to install Intel Lan Driver. I would really appreciate any help, because there is no .exe file and I have no idea, what to do with those files.

    Hi buddy,
the files which are in the zip file are really the drivers but you have to install them manually which means you must go to the device manager, search for the LAN device which probably should have a exclamation mark and then right-click on it. After clicking a wizard should appear which leads you trough the installation process. When the wizard asks for drivers (if not already automatically found) then point on the folder where the driver files are located.
Then everything should be fine. :)

  • Need help installing my graphics driver in windows vista via boot camp

New to mac so first time on forum as well.
Love the Mac but i also want to get on some old games. C&C The First Decade mainly.
    I am currently using below.
Mac mini Mid 2011 processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core it
    Memory 4 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6630M 256 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
Installing windows vista home premium 32 bit
I have installed windows vista home premium using boot camp assistant and downloaded the windows drivers as well. After i have installed windows i installed boot camp using my Mac OS X snow leopard which installed boot camp 3 or 3.1 i believe and i eventually got apple updates for 3.2 which is what i am now runnning on vista. I had trouble getting my sound to play through my speakers at first but eventually got them working and now it is my graphics driver that i cannot seem to get working. In vista(I also downloaded service pack 1 and 2) when i go to control panel and check out my device control it shows a yellow exclamation point next to the adapter. I guess i need help in getting my graphics installed correctly on my windows. Is there something i should take off to install the correct driver? Or do i just need the correct driver download? If i have the correct driver how do i upload it onto my windows side in the device control.
When i try to run c&c generals/zero hour i get a directx 8.1 error, red alert 2 is black but i can hear. i know these games can work i installed the graphics correctly the first time when i did not have sound as this is my second time installing windows so the game did load when i did not have sound.
    Advise?
I was thinking about saying forget this i can't waste hours of my time anymore but i have to be close to getting everything working if i had graphics before and no sound but sound this time and no graphics. I was also thinking about just buying windows 7 home premium sp1 64bit system builder dvd off amazon and reinstalling windows using windows 7 but i want to make sure i can play these games before i spend the money. I thought my mini couldn't support windows vista and if it did only boot camp 4? how am i getting this far to get things to work?
What is the driver i need to install to get these games working? What do I need to do or what am I missing???
Do i need to install a different boot camp off apple and find a driver that will get mine to work in vista?
Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated i have been at this everyday for hours.

Also is there something, say maybe a driver, that was installed i do not need that is blocking me from installing the correct drivers? What driver in my boot camp folder do i need to install to get to the correct display to run those games.

  • New tech help install new hard drive

Installing a new drive in late 2007 MBP. Read about cloning drives et al. using carbon cloner.
Instructions for cloning to an already formatted external verbatim HD - by dividing an existing partition looks simple enough.
    http://help.bombich.com/kb/overview/formatting-your-hard-drive-for-use-with-carb on-copy-cloner
I would do the clone just to see how it works and have a bootable copy of my existing drive...
But what I'd like to do is - Fresh Install - everything, and pull desired data over manually from time machine back up I have on external.
QUESTION - after I install the new "unformatted drive" into computer what happens when I start it up since there is no operating system? Will I just be able to restart and use my Snow Leopard disk - NOT ORIGINAL COMPUTER INSTALLATION DISKS - to format drive and install OS ?
If so, I would do software upgrades, then install applications and updates, then get my data from time machine back up.
    Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
    David Stamm

You will need to do this:
    Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    7. When formatting is completed quit DU and return to the installer. Complete the OS X installation.
When done you will boot into the newly installed system on the newly installed drive. You can then restore what you want from your backup.

  • Please help Installing new Hard Drive.  PLEASE HELP

I know this topic has been posted before and I have read all the reviews but still nothing ..
I m trying to install a new hd. I put the screws where there needed to go, plugged in all appropriate SATA plugs into new HD, went to dicl utility and no new HD shows up to initialize or format. Please help me .. I have purchased a 500 gb Seagate HD from ramjet.
    Item:
    Seagate 500GB SATA II 7200rpm 16mb
    Specifications:
    Capacity: 500GB
    Performance
    Rotational Speed: 7200rpm
    Buffer Size: 16mb
    Transfer Rate
    Serial ATA (G/s): 3.0G/sec
    Average Seek: < 8.5ms
    Average Latency: 4.16ms
I have installed and uninstalled the new HD about 5 times already. Please help me

On older ATA drives there are little plastic tabs that, depending on configuration, designate a drive as "Master" or "Slave." If both drives are configured as "master" it can sometimes cause one not to be seen by the computer.
    I only mentioned it because:
    A) I had it happen 2x with my old G4.
    B) Most new drives are shipped with the jumpers in "master" position, I'm guessing because they assumed most people were replacing their primary drives, not adding them.
Check out these links for more about jumpers on drives.

  • Desktop Help Installed to C Drive without asking

Prompted by an email, I just installed Broadband Desktop Help.
It just installed itself on my C drive without asking me. My C drive is a small SSD drive. I have no room for this.
It's really pretty worryingly poor that the software did not ask me whiere to install it.
    So my questions are:
    1) If I uninstall it now, what can I expect to go wrong?
    2) How do I install this in on the drive of my choice?
    thanks
    Dave

not a lot will happen, you may need to re-do wireless if you use it. personally,i wouldn't use it,as would many others,as it causes more problems than it solves, ymmv.
as for installing on another drive, doesn't it ask where to install ? ( i don't use it, i'm a linux user ) if not, shame on BT!!
    free your computer, use opensource
i'm a linux user & very happy about it

  • I need help installing Realtek ALC880 driver on HP Pavillion a1104x

As the title says, I need help installing the Realtek ALC880 audio driver on my HP Pavillion a1104x
I installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Home SP2 and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I download the Microsoft UAA Driver
Then I install the Realtek Driver
When the Microsoft UAA driver installs, it tells me that I have an audio device
When I install the Realtek driver, it dissappears and the realtek driver shows up in my device manager but the Realtek sound manager doesn't show up nor does any audio device show up in the windows sound manager.
    Please help

Try clearing the CMOS.  No sound device in Device Manager generally means that Windows in not detecting the device when it boots up.
Try a device manager hardware rescan and see if Windows will redetect the sound device.
Try these two Intel utilities and see if anything will need updates.  #1 might not find the appropriate hardware so be too concerned.
Intel Driver Update Utility  Intel Driver Update Utility
Intel Chip Set update  Intel chipset update utility
A yellow question mark or yellow exclamation point in device manager would indicate a software driver or hardware issue. Go to www.realtek.com for the latest XP driver.

  • TS130 1105-19U RAID controller driver issues

I am trying to load WIndows 2008 Server Foundation on some ThinkServers.  In a nutshell, after the Windows 2008 Foundation installer reboots, the server cannot find any bootable devices.  I did this with the TS130 startup DVD, I did this manually loading the newest Intel driver and I tried this manually loading an older Intel driver.  I even took the same driver that is used on another TS130 and that didn't work either.
I checked the RAID configuration and the logical drive exists.
Can someone recommend the exact driver I should be using for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Controller or offer a suggestion on how to get Windows to recognize the controller?
    thank you

    Hello,
Today, I downloaded the new SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver onto
my Linux Server. The path to the driver's .jar file is
/root/sqljdbc_1.0/enu/sqljdbc.jar. I placed that path in my CF

the app server but each time I try to establish a dsn connection I
keep getting this error. (note: I have dsn's set up already to this

would prefer to use this new driver)
Connection verification failed for data source: dsnTestDB

The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: No suitable

Try placing the jar file in the
{cfmx-root}/runtime/servers/lib (create if not already there)
directory if you have the server install or the
{jrun-root}/servers/lib directory if you have the multiserver or

    Hi
Are you sure thats the Ethernet controller and not the WLAN card? Ethernet controller in device manager can mean both
Normally you can get all drivers on the Toshiba website. Furhtermore you should try to install the drivers manual via advanced installation routine. If you right click on the ethernet controller and choose update driver. In next windows choose the advanced installation where you can choose the driver directory yourself.
By the way: Why you dont use the Toshiba recovery disk? There are already all drivers preinstalled. :)

  • Need help installing new hard drive and wiping the old one for Windows XP.

I’ve searched to try and figure out the answer to my question and haven’t been too successful, so hopefully someone can help me out. I have a new Mac Pro that I haven’t even turned it on yet because I’m waiting for some upgrades to show up. Here is what I plan to do, I’m unsure of what I need to do and what order to do it in:
It has a stock 250GB hard drive that I plan to wipe and install Windows XP on. I have a new 750GB drive coming that will run Leopard which will be my primary OS. Once I have this set up, I will probably try running VM Fusion which I assume I can install later on. Here are my questions:
When I put my new blank 750GB drive in to install Leopard, will OS X boot up off the Leopard install disc to then allow me to do the install?
When do I wipe the smaller drive to put Windows on it, before or after I’ve installed Leopard on the new drive? How should I wipe it, using the Bootcamp setup assistant or Disc Utility? If I wipe it after installing Leopard, will I be prompted for which drive to boot from?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't use Windows, but I think the proper order to do things would be this:
First, if your Mac Pro came with Tiger installed, when you start it up for the first time, you'll need to go through some initial setup, create an administrator account, etc. You can go ahead and do this.
Afterwards, you can install your 750 GB drive. Next, you can insert your Leopard disk, and go to System Preferences/Startup Disk to choose to start up from the disk. (Alternatively, if you just choose "Install Mac OS X" from the disk, it will instruct you to restart the mac.)
When the mac boots from the disc, install Leopard on your 750. Once you have that done, and have booted from that drive, you'll be able to erase your 250 in Disk Utility, and then install Windows on it.

  • Help installing new hard drive

The original hard drive in my powerbook went out and I bought a Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD3200BEVE 320GB 5400 RPM 2.5" ATA-6 to replace it. However, when I boot from the OS X disk and run the disk utility to format the drive I am unable to locate it in the list of available dirves. Only my DVD drive is listed. Am I missing a step?

So I am assuming that you already have it installed into the Powerbook? If so then see if you can boo the mac into Firewire Target Disk Mode. This will help troubleshoot whether or not you have the drive installed correctly.
To boot the Mac into TDM:
Power-on the Mac and immediately press and hold the "t-key" until the firewire symbol appears. If you cannot boot into TDM then you may need to recheck the installation of the HDD.

  • After installing ethernet controller driver, Solaris 10 refuses to boot

    Hi guys!
I just installed Solaris 10 8/07 on a Compaq SR5250NX. Install went smoothly with no issues. When I got into the system, I noticed that it didn't install a driver for my Ethernet controller, which is a Realtek RTLS series. I downloaded the Realtek provided drivers and followed their install instructions, modifying the Install script to use the correct PCI ID of the card. The Installer said that it installed correctly. Following their instructions, I created /etc/hostname.rtls0, issued "touch /reconfigure" and then shutdown the machine. Upon attempting to reboot, it hangs right after printing "Use is subject to copyright laws." Sometimes it just hangs and sits there, and other times it reboots itself, only to repeat the cycle.
Not sure if it matters, but Solaris loads a 64 bit kernel, and, as far as I know, the Realtek drivers are 32 bit.
Firstly I need to get the system booted, and then I'd like to get the network interface up. What steps should I take to get the system running again?
Please excuse my ignorance, I've not used Solaris for a very long time...
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this.
    ~SlowToady

Well, it turns out I read the card model number wrong initially. It's actually a RTL8101E, which Realtek doesn't provide Solaris drivers for. Instead, I need to install the 'gani' 2.x series of free drivers.
I should be able to fix the system by uninstalling the improper driver, correct? Any tips, hints, or pointers would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Novice needs help installing new hard drive

I have a macbook and purchased a new hard drive after my current hard drive failed. I can remove the battery, unscrew the 3 screws, install the new hd. What are the steps that follow to bring my machine up to being back to normal? Let's approach this with "color by numbers" type instruction. Thanks

    Bama--
You score points for guts. Novice changing HDD is not one I see often. You also lose points for not getting directions first before starting. (I work in education, and thus grade a lot of work and exams.)
As this is an open book/open note exam for you, best you look here: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/MacBook13inch_HardDriveDIY.pdf. If this is not your MacBook, then we'll need just a bit more info to steer you in the right direction.
There is no time limit on this exam.
    Best of luck--
