[HELP] Installing Windows 7 on MBP by USB using Boot Camp

Hello!
Im using boot camp to try to Install windows 7 on my MBP. The problem is my cd/dvd driver is broken and I cant use DVD to boot from. I tryed to install by USB but when Im about to restart and boot try to boot the windows that I installed on the USB it says: 'No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key'
I have read that Apple changed in boot camp that if you have a DVD you cant use USB function to boot from in USB. I have fixed this problem by using this method from a video in youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_587318&feature=iv&src_vid= I3MNnbtfyzs&v=KmHxkahbK-g
But after I changed this I stil get problem when I boot that my laptop dont recognize the USB.
I need a help to solve this problem. Im using a MacBook Pro 13 (late 2011) OS X 10.8.5

I dont have the opportunities to repair my internal optical drive. Im looking for other solutions for this problem, there I can install the windows without the optical drive.

    You're welcome anytime.
Microsoft doesn't make it easy sometimes

  • Unable to install Windows 7 because of missing drivers using Boot Camp

I tried this question in the lap-top section, but nobody could help.
I have an MB Pro with 13" Retina, late 2013, 250 GB SS-disk, 8 GB RAM.
I need a partition with Windows 7 Professional, and I have an ISO with Norwegian Windows 7, service pack 1 (64 bit).
I run the BootCamp assistant to partition my HDD and to generate the USB-disk with Windows and the necessary drivers.
When i try to install Windows the installer asks for a driver for the DVD-drive. I get a message that it cannot find a driver file and tells me to provide one. There is no DVD so that is correct. There is no way I can skip this part, and I must stop the intallation. I have not been able to trace down any dummy-drivers.
I have also tried to do this procedure with a USB-Superdrive attatched, but that did not help.
My problem is that I am not able to complete the Windows 7 installation. I must break it as it wil not continue until I provide the correct DVD-drivers.

    Hello everyone,
As the struggle was real, I thought I would also participate in this thread and share my testimonial with you.
For more than a week, I had been attempting to set up Windows 7 x64 on my mid-2014 MacBook Air 13", but to no avail. I was so sick of witnessing the infamous black screen, "no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key", or the "select your language" window in the Windows 7 PE with no keyboard nor mouse alive, that I had almost given up on it all.
But that was before I came across the present thread. I diligently applied your procedure and IT WORKED LIKE MAGIC
    My specs:
    - Mid-2014 MacBook Air 13" with pre-installed Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks)
    - Windows 7 x64 Home Premium ISO file
    - The most basic USB 2.0 flashdrive one can get
    - (Note: I did not have rEFIt installed)
You must be some kind of wizard. I signed up just to upvote this, no kidding!
I sincerely wish this post gets the visibility it deserves.
    Thank you so much!
    Cheers,

Try the Boot Camp Assistant when you are in OS X and download those and follow the directions in BCA utility.
Then look up the Boot Camp forum. I suspect you thought this was MBP related forum, it is for 65 lb tower model (and well the new "nMP Late 2013 Mac Pro" http://www.apple.com/support/macpro/

  • Installing Windows 7 on MBP from USB key?

    Hello all,
I've searched all around the internet, but I just can't seem to find a straight answer to this question:
Is it possible to install Windows 7 on an MBP with a USB key? Before you answer, read my process to see where I'm having trouble.
I want to install the Windows 7 beta on my MBP, but DVD media isn't available to me. I do, however, have a 4gb USB key. I've formatted the key with my XP install (through Parallels) to be bootable, and loaded the Windows 7 install on it. When I tried to use Boot Camp, the assistant asked me for a CD/DVD, so I figured that option is out.
My next attempt was to install rEFIx, which did show the USB key as a viable boot option, and even let me select the efi file to boot the Windows 7 installer. However, when I try to load it, I get a complaint:
    Starting legacy loader
    Using load options 'USB'
Error: Not Found returned from legacy loader
The firmware refused to boot from the selected volume. Note that external hard drives are not well-supported by Apple's firmware for legacy OS booting.
So now I am stuck. Can anyone offer me any advice regarding this matter? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Windows normally cannot be installed nor boot from a USB or any external drive. This is a Windows problem. There are methods for installing and booting Windows from USB devices, but you will need to do some searching to find sites that detail the process. It's not likely you'll find much on Windows 7 because it's beta software, and not supported for installation on a Mac.

  • Trying to install Windows 8.1 from an ISO, but boot camp assistant doesn't seem to recognize

    Hi there,
I have a 2011 Macbook pro, 15", 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM. I'm wanting to install windows 8.1 using boot camp assistant, and downloaded windows 8.1 from dreamspark (Microsoft store for students). I have downloaded all of the windows support software onto a USB, and there is a folder sitting on my desktop containing the .ISO for windows 8.1. However, when i try to run boot camp assistant, it says that the installer disc could not be found, and does not give me an option to install from a selectable .ISO. Can anyone help me with this? Is it something obvious I'm missing? Thanks!
    Connor

For Macs with built-in Optical drives, you will need to burn the ISO to Optical media and use the Optical drive.

  • What is the best way to install windows 8 on MacBookPro Mtn Lion(VM, boot camp...) to maximize hardware & features

Has anyone installed Windows 8 on MacBook Pro? Is it best to use Boot Camp or virtual software in order to maximize the Mac trackpad usage in Windows 8 (for a better "touch screen type" experience)? Will virtual software suck the power out of the MacBook if I need to use it for intense picture image editing and because of this should I stick to boot Camp even if it does not allow me to use the multi uses of the trackpad?

Apple's bootcamp doesn't support Windows 8 at this time only Windows 7
You can run Win 8 (or almost anything really) in a virtual machine, free Virtualbox

  • Having problems installing Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro w/Boot Camp

Having a problem installing Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit) on my Macbook Pro (mid-2010) 13". I use the Boot Camp Assistant, download the necessary drivers and burn them to a disc. I insert my legit Windows 7 install disc, and the process begins but once I get to 'Completing installation', my mac freezes and I have to restart it and delete the partition. This has happened twice. I have contacted Apple and Microsoft and neither of them said that they could help me with the problem so if someone has had a similar issue and found a solution to it, I would really appreciate the help.

  • How do install windows hard drive (from dead pc) into boot camp partition

My Windows 7 desktop died recently, so I took the opportunity to buy a Mac Mini (latest version as of Feb 2012) as a replacement.  I want to transfer  the Windows 7 installation (from the dead PC) including all applications, accounts, settings, user files, etc to the Boot Camp Partition.   Can someone please provide the steps on how to perform the Win 7 migration to the Mac Mini.

    Just to clarify:
I want to install the Windows 7 installation from dead the PC into the Mac Mini's Boot Camp partition.
I installed the PC's hard drive into an enclosure and connected it to the Mac Mini via the USB port.
What I want to do is the following:
    1) Do a Windows 7 "fresh" install in the Mac Mini Boot Camp partition.
    2) Migrate all the applications installed on the  Windows 7 PC and their associated data.
    3) Migrate all user accounts and data.
Is there a tool that can transfer all applications and user accounts from the Windows 7 Hard Drive to the Boot Camp partition on the Mini?
Based on the documentation the Window Migration tool is Lion OS utility and does not perform a complete migration of all applications installed on the Windows machine.
    thank you.

  • How do I Install Windows XP on my MacBook w/o Boot Camp?

I just purchased a new MacBook right before Leopard came out. I guess I missed the window to download Boot Camp Beta to install Windows XP because it has now expired. I am a bit ticked off that I didn't get Leopard with my laptop purchase already since it came out within days after I made my purchase. Is there a way to install XP without Boot Camp?

"...Is there a way to install XP without Boot Camp?..."
There is (use Google) but trust me - by the time you are finished, you'll wish you could just buy Leopard and get those 2 or 3 days of your life back....!
Bootcamp is soooo nice to use because it partitions so easily and it offers special drivers that you will need for Mac keyboards and such. Drivers can be searched for online and found which KINDA do the job, but not as well.
If you are really in need, you can find an old Bootcamp 1.3 version on the 'net. It is saved to some software download mirror site (again - use Google). You possibly are taking chances with those saved downloads because they MIGHT be tampered with. Also 1.3 is out-of-date. The out-of-date problem can be fixed by temporarily setting your Mac clock back a few months. If you have decent skills and computer experience it might be worth the gamble. If not - get a job! With a decent hourly wage you can just purchase Leopard from Mother Mac in no time!

  • Installing windows 7 and one other questions about boot camp

I have a 20 inch iMac with Mac OS 10.5.7 and all updates. I am thinking about upgrading from vista on boot camp to Windows 7. I know what to do but i wanted to hear some personal experiences from other people. Also, a long tome ago, I tried to install Windows XP but realized half way through that I did not have a product key. It turns out I did not need one, but I tried to cancel the installation process and all I would get was "Press any key to restart" and I would be sent back to the beginnign of the installation. I was trapped in a loop. For future reference, how do u "escape" this loop? Thanks

You 'escape' by not killing it. And most people have to redo their entire install to get things working properly.

  • I have a MBP and have used boot camp to make two partitions.  I screwed up and reformatted the PC side.  I'm trying to use boot camp to get to the pc side now and it says it can't.  I have to download some helps for windows.  I did that, but it still won'

Then... I tried to reformat using the start up disk and reloaded everything.  When I tried to use boot camp I still get the same message.  When I check disk utility, I still show two partitions...same as before... I just can't use the pc side.  What's up, please?

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?
I am running Yosemitie on a  iMac.

  • I tried installing Windows 7 using Boot Camp, but it didn't work, I don't know how to "unparticion" the memory I gave to Boot Camp, and Boot Camp "vanished", help...

I tried installing Windows 7 using Boot Camp, but it didn't work.
Although it didn't work, the memory is still divided. So I looked for Boot Camp in aplications, but it literally vanished...
So I tried downloading it again, but I only found EXE files... they don't work on my MacBook Pro...
It's very new... Bought it recently...
Please... I need help to unparticion memory back to original Mac HD and install Boot Camp...
    Thanks...

Below is the paragraph from the instructions. Follow it exactly and then report what happens at each stage.
How you remove Windows from your computer depends on whether you installed
Windows on a second disk partition or on a single-volume disk.
If you installed Windows on a second disk partition:  Using Boot Camp Assistant as
described below, remove Windows by deleting the Windows partition and restoring
the disk to a single-partition Mac OS X volume.
If your computer has multiple disks and you installed Windows on a disk that has only one
partition:  Start up in Mac OS X and use Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder, to reformat it
as a Mac OS X volume.
To delete Windows and the Windows partition:
1  Start up in Mac OS X.
2  Quit all open applications and log out any other users on your computer.
    3  Open Boot Camp Assistant.
4  Select “Remove Windows 7,” and then click Continue.
5  Do one of the following:
a  If your computer has a single internal disk, click Restore.
b  If your computer has multiple internal disks, select the disk with Windows on it,
and then select “Restore to a single Mac OS partition” and click Continue.
